Okay this is just a rough plot line that I came up with:

Iris is in what she thought was a happy relationship, but her boyfriend is cheating on her with her girl best friend. Her boy best friend knows, but doesn't say anything because it's not his place. Anyway, Iris is diagnosed with leukemia and she tells all three of them.
