Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have a question? Look here and see if you can find the answer first!
Q: Can I join more than one play?
A: Of course! You can join as many of them as you can keep up with, so long as you read the rules, and all other story information before you join.
Q: I've been a member here for a long time. Can I still join the role-plays?
A: Absolutely! In fact, I encourage it. These were created for all members of Mene, and a novice would be a great addition to any role-play.
Q: I'm not really clear on the role-play forum rules, what are they?
A: The rules created by Mene can be found here.
Q: Are adult concepts allowed in the plays?
A: Somewhat. Mene is a PG-13 site, so while romance is allowed, describing sexual acts in detail is not. Neither is the insinuation of rape, incest, beastiality, and sexual or otherwise inappropriate contact with minors by a character who is not a minor. You can find more information in the Mene role-play forum rules.
Q: C'mon, they won't know right?
A: Wrong. The Mene mods know eevveryythinngg. [ninja] But if you really want to join or create a role-play that allows adult and even taboo concepts, because hey, you're an adult after all... Check out WTF RPG. Mene has a sister site that will let it allll slide. :)
Q: I really love some of these plays, but I want to turn them into a 1x1 with someone. Can I use your ideas?
A: Go ahead! So long as you don't copy my threads exactly, or use a character without permission from the owner, have at it! I also prefer that you don't use my photo titles without asking first as well. I'll say yes, more than likely. It's just nice to be asked when I spent the time to make them.
Q: I have a group play idea. Will you make the thread for me?
A: I will make a thread for you, but, you must keep in mind that in doing so, it might not turn out exactly how you envision it. You also won't be able to edit it, and I won't have the time to go in and edit the introduction, or pictures, or rules, etc. I'll implement one of the rules I have with my daughter; You get what you get and you don't throw a fit! Also, you earn a lot of gold when you create a new thread. And then you earn gold each time someone posts in it. So I really suggest that you create your own thread. But if you just have a general idea of a play you'd like to see or join, and you don't care about the details, I'd be happy to set it up for you!
Q: What is Godmodding?
A: Godmodding is a big no no around here. It's when you write that someone else's character is doing or saying something. That's not allowed. You can't control or direct anyone's character without their permission. It's when you take it upon yourself to make a huge change in the story without the consent of the other players. There are a lot of different terms for different no no's. Basically, control your character and your character only, and you won't have a problem. :)
Q: Who's in charge of the role-plays if you aren't joining them?
A: Still me! Just because I won't be actively participating, doesn't mean I'm not around to clarify parts of the introduction, help with the story or moderating arguments or posts when needed. I will even change or add rules when necessary, and remove players who are not following the rules or keeping the peace between players.
Q: I have questions about the play, where do I ask them?
A: There has been an OOC created for each role-play, which is an Out of Character thread where you and your fellow players can talk about the play, plot the story, etc. If you have a question for me, feel free to send me a personal message, a visitor message, post here, or simply ping me to the OOC for the thread in question.
Q: Can I share my links here?
A: You're welcome to share links in this thread that are related to role-play; your request thread, your new role-play, etc. But links to your chats, general threads, memory jars and things of the like are not allowed and will be considered spam (unless you're talking to someone about the thread and they ask for the link - it's okay to share then).
