A dark play; supernatural/fantasy
I just set up a play on WTF. I'm pretty sure I can link there, since it's not an avatar site and is Mene's sister site? Correct me if I'm wrong.
The play is adult oriented, welcoming violence and romantical themes, so if you're not 18 or older, just keep moving aloonng. It's a sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural styled play meant to be somewhat dark. If anyone is interested, you should checky it out. ^^ Shifting Shadows; When Darkness Falls I'm also open to opening this in a 1x1 on Mene, or WTF, just to put that out there for people who aren't into groups but might like the idea or my character pairing. ♥ |

Agreed! Pretty much everyone I know left the website T___T or is on Roleplay Gateway (since the pace tends to be faster and there are more members).

I thought about checking out Roleplay Gateway a while back but didn't get too far. I got busy and forgot or something. Is it good? I adore the way WTF had the role-play and character layouts set up. I just wish it was more active.

RPGW in terms of character layout and set-up is pretty similar except that you have total control over how the character layout is set (it's a blank sheet) and the preview appears under the text box (although it only works up to a certain amount of characters). The site goes down from time to time and the system can be buggy but most people appear to work around it.
The community itself is a lot, lot more active with new RPs appearing every couple of days or so. It's a lot different from Menewsha or WTF in that they put a bigger emphasis on appearance. This isn't to say that they don't appreciate content (as many of the prominent members are literate and post RPs average 400+ words) but that lots of RPs will have differing fonts, banners, gifs, etc in both the introduction page and the profile. Characters sometimes will have pre-set "faceclaims" and it's expected that you have a decent knowledge of how to fill out a profile (e.g. changing colors, adding pictures/gifs, etc.). They can sometimes be painstaking but I suppose I've gotten used to it? Here is an example of an RP I'm currently in with a very intense front page versus this RP that only has a banner and a few images. Both have their audience but people tend to gravitate more toward the picture-filled pieces. I'll say this though: there are still leavers. It might take some time to spot them (as I don't want to name names here) but the community is still small enough that you can identify some big name leavers who will either: never post, never start, or drop the roleplay once they lose interest (though tbh there have still been more posts than in Mene). Real life happens (as it always does) and it tends to take a front seat (as it should), but once you find a good group of people (it's good to try and look through their history, stalker-y as it seems) they are invaluable. I'm never on Mene either. Checking for your messages is literally the most I've been on in a long time, lol. But RPGW looks crazy complicated. x.x I'm afraid I'd hop on and not get it and people would shun the sheet out of me. But, if plays actually survive there, it would be worth looking into. I can't deal with many more plays that die off after a page because someone's lost interest, signed up even FREAKING KNOWING they wouldn't post as often as everyone else who followed the rules promised to, or just poofers in general. Oh. My. Gawd. The poofers. T.T I just signed up for a few other websites. If they don't take off, I may sign up on RPGW. If I do, I'll let you know here or on WTF. I don't have Skype.

Yeah it seems overwhelming at first but once you jump into it I found that it's easy to pick up. A lot of it is just using the "find and replace" function in Microsoft Word to add colors and of course images. At least for now the site seems pretty nice, but things are always subject to change lol. I agree with you about not being able to stand leavers but alas they will always be there so long as the Internet remains anonymous ;~;
What other websites did you sign up for? I'm always looking for new places to play so I'd be happy for any other information you can provide (: |
Hmm, well I signed up for two other avatar sites, which I can't name unless you PM me. Mene rules. One of them is AWESOME. And super busy all the time. Plus the avatars are beautiful, and role-play is good too. *nods* The other one is an older site that seems to be doing a lot like Mene; slowing the heck down. I wouldn't really recommend it, so I'm sure it's fine to call that place out as Roliana.
The role-play site is Iwakuroleplay.com. It's pretty neat so far. But I've only been there for like three days, and am still looking for a partner. I have two people interested in what I'm looking for (which is something specific - probably why I haven't had loads of bites) but talking about it is slow going. Which makes me feel like role-play with these two will be slow going as well. x.x The site itself has hundreds of daily members and everything seems to move pretty fast. The other site, which I signed up for and promptly left, lol, was Blue Moon. It's adult based, but the users there seem to all only want loads of constant smut. They dive right into it and that's where it stays. That's cool, don't get me wrong. I just need a story, with a plot and character development. I like the tension of not delving straight into adult concepts, if you know what I mean, and I also like it to be relevant when it happens, lol. So that site got scratched off my list, but, it's super super busy, too. Also, I had a hard time finding anyone who wanted to play in a thread. Everyone wanted to PM, which I just don't like as much. I love threads, lol. |
RPG is okay. I used to be on there but the site is constantly down with errors. Or at least it was. It was a huge inconvenience. Definitely prefer Mene and WTF as they tend to always be up and running. But that's just me. ;P
Also, nice to see that someone is using WTF! I haven't been on in forever. Can't really sneak on at work like I can with Mene. But hey, good luck with the story! |
