O.O Oh god, why is my avatar naked?
Anyway, I'm posting here because I'm looking for some new friends to RP with on AIM. I stumbled upon this forum googling around for PBP stuff, but really that's not my preferred means of playing.
I would be happy to play with anyone, man, woman or anything in between, just so long as they're nice and can use proper spelling and grammar. Though, it does bare noting that I'm an indecisive sort of person and after years spent DMing campaigns for my group of friends I'm really burnt out on running storylines for a while. Doesn't mean I won't do it... just means I can't be expected to.
As for themes... I'd be looking for all sorts of stuff! Action and adventure, romance, social, comedy, pretty much the full gamut (excluding random, unabashed raunchy sex). I have a wide range of characters I enjoy playing, some male, some female and between the all of them I can do pretty much any setting, but I'll list a few that have been on my mind lately to get people an idea of my interests.
So, it's onto settings. This is by no means an all-inclusive list! I am willing to try a lot of new stuff if it's suggested. Of course that's no guarantee I'll try something, but don't shy away from contacting me and offering your ideas. Anyway, onto the list of stuff I've been wanting to do lately!
Generic fantasy:
Pretty much any sub-genre would do as well. I've got a whole arrangement of characters for fantasy RP, humans, elves, even more exotic creatures like dragons! I don't care much for large amounts of magi-tech in the worlds I play in, though... so let that be fair warning. As for setting, I'm happy to go with just about any from a completely made-up world to a more 'real-life' inspired ancient setting, all the way to roleplaying in feudal Japan or ancient China.
Sci-Fi:
Could be fun, too! I don't have nearly as many characters for a sci-fi setting, but I still do have a few. Here I'm a little more picky, though. I don't like utopian societies. I prefer the gritty, space cowboy feel of Firefly or Alien.
Modern:
I'll do modern, and this is where I suppose there's the most sub-genres. I've been unexpectedly enjoying a Japanese school RP with a friend for some time, so I'd be willing to try something like that. World of Darkness style modern is fine, too... Though I'm a garou sort of girl, don't expect any vampires from me! Another thing that would interest me is modern or post-modern elite military sorta thing. I've always though the forbidden sorta romances in the armed forces could be very interesting fuel for RP.
Fan-based:
I don't usually play characters not my own... though I can make some exceptions. As far as established worlds that I really enjoy there's Warhammer 40k. The Eldar have really grabbed my attention since I first read about them some nine odd years ago... and since then my love for them and for toys has led me to spend way more time and money than I should have on a sizable army of them. I have a few characters that are Eldar as well.
Alien/Predator has interested me to some degree as well. The Alien series has been some of the only action movies with a really strong female presence that I could enjoy them to the fullest extent. Vasquez was just too damn cool for words. Also reading into stuff about Yautja (Predators) a few months back when complaining to a friend about how much the new movie sucked, I found out that they're actually matriarchal, and their females are around two feet taller than males and rule over their clans. That was something I always thought was too cool an image!
I used to really enjoy Warcraft, before WoW went and ruined the Kaldorei by turning them from ancient and powerful warrioresses to ditzy little powerless sluts (If you do play WoW and want to RP with me, please don't ever talk about it. I hate that game with a burning passion.)
I enjoy the world surrounding the show Avatar, and have one character I've come up with to play in that world but have never been able to, so if someone would like to do that, it could be a lot of fun!
Recently I've also been pretty into exploring Sakura and Ryu's relationship in Street Fighter. I've always enjoyed fighting games a lot and recently after being allowed to borrow the series of comics that UDON did I found myself skimming through the rest of it, just to get back to the two of them. Sure she's always been my favorite character in that series, but I never really found myself filled with so much interest before.
