Dear Aspiring Scholar,

We cordially invite you to the Lemuria Boarding School of Magick and Special Abilities(abbriviated LBS or Lemuria). You have been chosen as you posses that which many humans do not. A special power unique to you and only you. Here, you will not only learn to control your powers or special abilities, but you will also expand upon and master them.

Traveling across our vast state-of-the-art campus,you will notice that it is shaped like a pentacle. Surrounded and protected by a tall hedge that contains a force field in a circle around a huge star shaped building in which is now your school. The five wings are separated into the five elements; Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Spirit. Each student will reside in the dorm section of their element’s wing. The middle of the campus building is where the cafeteria and classrooms for required classes.

You and your classmates will meet in Galway, Ireland where you will board a luxurious ship to take you to Lemuria; an island thought to have been nothing but a myth. This ship is much like a cruise ship and will act as a last bit of vacation before heading to your studies. Be sure to make some friends on the train before you arrive, because you never know who your room mate might be!

When you arrive, you will meet with the headmaster to receive a special animal orb which contains a familiar. You will reach blindly into a soft velvet bag full of what seems to be marbles. Remember, you do not choose your animal, your animal chooses you. Your familiars can exist in three forms; in the marble, outside of the marble walking among you, or visible only to you and no one else.

#8. Be sure your character’s power is something resonable. Be specific! If you give a vague power, it will be the very weakest version of it. Example: Fire(you will basically have the power of a cheap plastic lighter). The more specific, the more capability for power you can have. Remember, you can expand them later in the thread!
#9. Try to read all the posts, I’m going to be attempting to include everyone to keep it from becoming a ton of mini private roleplays.
#10. One line posts are annoying and don't contribute much, so if it's possible type a couple sentances at least.
#11. Apply for the Lemuria Boarding School by sending a PM to me, Dr. Nyx, or in thread using one of the shells provided in this post.

This is her first year taking up her birth right as head of the boarding school. Always being a shy woman, she was never sure she would mahe a good Headmistress. However, being the only child of a Headmaster came with Responsiblility, so she decided to give it a try. After all, now she was a doctor.

Bio: Terra grew up in the redwood forests of Northern California, where she discovered her unique gift as a child. The ability to speak to the planet helped her through a lonely childhood, as her parents were constantly busy working and taking care of her three younger sisters, and she was bullied, picked on, and generally misunderstood all through school. When she got the invitation letter to Lemuria, she was understandably ecstatic.

Bio: Growing up in the bustling city of New York Alisa found herself alone due to her parents time consuming buisness job. She had a rather quiet childhood, excelling in all school studies, constantly striving for 'Mommy's and Daddy' attention. However the family began to drift apart. Alisa one night came into the living room, parents fighting. That was when she discovered her power. Consumed by pain and anger all hell was let loose. The cyclones destoried their house. Living in an orphanage for a few years, everything seemed dull and hopeless a letter was sent to Alisa...from Lemuria. Seizing the chance Alisa now heads off to the fabled school.

Power: The ability to call upon the flame from within herself, either as a small flame or to completely engulf her hole body. She can control her body temperature as well, heating her skin so it burns hot. Other then that, just simple fireballs can be shot as well.
Bio: Known to be the quiet nurse that sits behind her desk with a soft smile but once an injured child came in, she is immediately there fussing over the child. Being born into a family that barely had any powers, she was sent away as soon as possible to train and perfect her power, when done she didn't return. If her family thought she was an abomination or not, she cared little. She just wanted to roam, and thus she did until the funds she had disappeared. A job was in order, and why not at a school? She enjoyed children and had a basic learning in healing and nursing.

He was raise far away from his family by his great grandfather, who believed that if he was raised away, his power would be more greater.

Power: Psychic Touch - When she touches an object, she can see its past, where it has been, who has touched it, ect. When she is in a place, she can see a brief history of things that have transpired there. When she touches a person, she can see significant events in their past, or their most recent thoughts/feelings. She has a very shaky control on this power, so most of the time she isn't even sure of what she is seeing, or she can't control when she sees, so she wears gloves over her hands and arms.
Bio: Suraii grew up in the quiet countryside, living a typical, average life for the majority of her time since birth. Her father was a farmer and her mother made clothing for the local communities. She was an only child and went to school in a small, nearby community. Nothing extraordinary happened until she hit puberty and all these images started to appear in her mind whenever she touched something with her bare hands or feet. Not knowing what to make of it, her parents had her pulled from school, thinking something there was causing the episodes. But when they didn't improve, they sent her to a hospital, and then a mental facility, thinking she had some kind of mental illness that could be cured with medication and lots of "share time". She never got "better", but she learned to keep most of it to herself. She occasionally has spasms when she can't control herself and she lapses into visions and dizzy spells. But since she received her letter, she's had hope that she could learn to control it and hopefully lead a normal life again, even if normal was a term that was quickly changing for her.

Bio: Only daughter of master illusionist Tim Brent, Tory has spent her whole life in the spotlight, right next to her father and mother. Although they always tried to persuade her to join their act and stay forever in the lime light, Tory skipped out when they got the surprise invitation for Tory to join Lemuria Boarding School. Astonish filled their faces as they read the letter, smiling as they did. They immediately bought a ticket for the next flight out for Ireland knowing the entire time they did so that their daughter was always something truly different and special.

Dr. Eris Nyx Was travelling back to the Boarding school after being gone for quite a while. She decided that it was probably a good idea to arrive on this ship the students were on, to ensure a safe return. After writing the acceptance letter that was sent to all of the students, she realized they were all her responsiblility now. And Eris was deturmined to take that responsibility head on. Stepping onto the boat, she knew this would be a great experiance despite her hesitations.

Terra looked around, awestruck. She had never been on a cruise before, but had often dreamed about it--never did she think she'd get to go on one on the way to school. The events of the past few days were nearly overwhelming, a blur of emotions and preparations. Still, she couldn't help but grin. Ireland had been beautiful, and now she was going to an island thought not to exist, to study magic! Surely, the world was full of amazing things. As she stepped off of the gangplank and onto the ship, she turned to look at Ireland one last time. Her parents had only had the money to fly her to Ireland, so she had gone through most of the trip alone. Not that she minded; it gave her more time with the planet. Amidst the bustle of the ship boarding, however, the soft whispers of the wind and gentle currents of the deep sea below were more difficult to discern. Steeped in thought, Terra took another step forward and bumped into a woman not much older than herself, with short black hair. "Oh, I'm sorry," she gasped. "I wasn't looking where I was going. I'm really sorry."

While standing on the ship she noticed a nudge on her shoulder. Looking over she sees a young woman dressed in Earth tones appologising to her. "Oh it's quite alright." Eris smiled. "My spatial awareness could be better as well." She held her hand out for an introduction, "I am Dr. Nyx, by the way. Your new headmistress."

Currently she was leaning over the side of the ship, her arms bent upon the bar and her chin rested within her fingers. Her nails pressed firmly into her cheeks, giving herself small dimples where each nail pressed into her pale skin. She was bent at the waist, most of her weight set upon her elbows, while her back was completely straight, her left leg lazily bent. Black boots were apparent upon her long legs, the green buckles clinking with every movement of the ship. Sighing so softly it was barely heard, she moved to stand and pressed her hips upon the railing, staring at the water. Something she was mildly frightened of, more of an instinct. Fluttering her long lashes closed, she sighed once more as a breeze blew her thick, straight and dark tresses around her, in a silent dance.

Alisa stood quietly near the edge of cruise. The wind whistled through her jet black hair. The wind was soothing actually. Although it Alisa appeared completely zoned out she was quietly observing everyone. The most thrilling thing at the moment was the student and the headmistress her didn't look over 25. Alisa was more of a silent person. She enjoyed 'observing' them then rather talking to her. Alisa didn't mind. A small yawn escaped from her mouth. Although Alisa didn't seem it she was highly escatic about being able to learn how to properly use her powers. Perhaps there was hope. Alisa only wanted was to become a beter person and lead a more sucessful life.

Terra took Eris's hand and shook it congenially, dazed from the shock of finding out that this young lady was to be her headmistress. "I-it's nice to meet you," she stammered. "I'm Terra Fullmer...thank you for accepting me into your school." She wasn't quite sure what to say next, but any conversation was better than none, especially when speaking with one's superiors. "So you're coming on the cruise too?"

mika carryed her luggage onto the cruise ship.she put them down and adored the ship "wow ive never been on a cruise ship"mika walked to the people talking "hi"

"Hullo," Terra said to Mika with a wave. It was nice to see someone being sociable--most of the other students seemed too busy enjoying the view. She grinned as she saw Mika admiring the ship. It was certainly a technological marvel, like a tiny city afloat in the vast ocean. Which reminded her--she would have to commune with the ocean later to petition for a safe voyage. But that could wait until she was in her quarters, which would hopefully be less quiet than on deck. "Enjoying the ship, hmm?" she asked Mika.

"oh yeah"mika then used her hands to make a small wave then some water designs in the air

"It was actually my idea that the ship to Lemuria become a cruise ship." Dr. Nyx admitted. "I thought the students could use a nice vacation to end thier summer with." Noticing the young woman was slightly confused -- more than likely abour her age; she was quite used to that response -- she thought about ways to make the students more comfortable.

Another, seemlingly more playful student bounded over and joined the conversation. "Nice to meet you as well, Mika. I am Dr. Nyx." She decided to give her a wave instead of a handshake, considering the young lady's hands were occupied by water manipulation.

Eris decided now might be a good time for the students to get aquainted with their familiars before they reached school. "Do you remember what your acceptance letters said about Animal orbs?" The doctor shuffled lightly through her backpack(which she preffered carrying to a purse) and found a black velvet bag, held together by light blue and purple silk. She slid open the silk chord that kept it closed. "Would any of you like to meet your new friends now?"

She thought on this a moment. "Here, let me show you." Eris opened a very specific compartment in her backpack and picked out what seemed to be a large, Clear marble with a blue, etheric looking animal design inside. "This is my familiar. As you can see, it is a wolf. It looks like a blue ghost doesn't it? It's blue here because my element is water. Spirit will be purple, fire: red, Air is white, and Earth would be green."

She tossed the marble into the bag with all of the others. Looks of surprise crossed the students' faces. "You will always be able to find your familiar, because you belong to one another." The Headmistress stuck her hand blindly in the bag and dug around a little before she felt a magnetic pull to a certain side of the bag. When her hand slid over a certain marble she felt something like butterflies in her stomach and immidiatly picked it up. Upon pulling it out, she showed it to the students; the same marble with the blue wolf. She felt a little cheap showing it off like a magic trick, but there was true magick to the whole process.

[[Just so you guys know how it works: The animal orb chooses you. You actually get to pick your own, but it's written as such to where it's the other way around. It's meant to be an animal that decsribes your character, not always your favourite.

Shiro yawned as he sat on the railing of the ship. He watched the waves go back and forth, as a sea gull landed right next to him. Looking at the sea gull and then back to the water. Summer was the same as always when he was at home, go straight back to great grandfather for training. It was annoying him to no end since all it is that he has to concentrate on gathering evil spirits into one section and then to exorcise them. What was he supposed to do to have his own life and run things his own way instead of doing the same kind of training over and over again. "......." Yawning again, he fell backwards and hit the floor, "...." Getting back up, he leaned onto the railing and watched the waves pass.

Sighing once more, she pushed herself from the railing of the ship with a huff, her jacket folding slightly in the momentum of the move. Turning to walk along the deck in a slow movement, her green eyes staring as students began to file onto the ship, amusement lit within her eyes at the sight of the younger people, wondering what each student had within them. Which element. Hopefully nothing as destructive as to what she was born with. Shoving her hands into the pockets of her jacket, fingering the bright red orb within it, feeling the warmth her familliar answered in a response. A loving smile curled along her lips at the remembrance of her dearest friend.

[[Hm, curious, what shall I do about her familliar? I want to give her one cause it could help with her background a bit, ya know?]]

Alisa's attention was completely drawn to the silk backpack, she quickly cut into the conversation. Her head peeping over. "May I learn about my friend now?" Her eyes almost brightened as she enjoyed being surounded by people. It seemed contradictory. That she didn't enjoy talking however enjoyed being surounded by them. Her eyes fell apon the headmistress and her familiar, a blue orb. It was simply divine. Alisa simply stated "Oh my-" her voice was soft and mellow. Appearing calm and collected was one of Alisa's mastered talents.

"Amazing," Terra breathed, viewing the headmistress with awe. Clearly, this school was already more than she had ever imagined. "May I...?" she asked, raising her hand toward the bag tentatively. She loved animals, but her parents had never been pet people. So she was understandably excited when she learned that she was to have not just a pet, but a familiar.

Shiro looked over to the headmistress explain about the familiar orbs and how the color were different. Looking not to excited, he would wait until everyone else had gotten their familiar orb and then get his.

mika examined the orb trying to guess what her familiar was like

"Of course you may." Dr. Nyx replied to the eager students infront of her. She held the bag out infront of them so they could easily reach it. "Remember not to peek." It was a good thing that the students liked the idea of familiars, Eris wasn't sure how this new addition would go over.

[[Orisis, I'll probably come over to you after these two get theirs to aquaint myself. My character is very sociable, so your character doesn't have to do anything out of character. Also, I'm getting a new computer, so I may be off for a couple of days soon.]]

"Right," Terra grinned. As she reached her hand into the bag, she turned her head and closed her eyes to show Dr. Nyx that she was emphatically not peeking. She felt around in the bag for a few moments--the orbs were marvelously smooth and cool to the touch. Suddenly, as she pressed her fingertips against one, a strange sensation ran up and down her body, like cold and hot and good smells and fond memories and breathtaking views and chocolate, all at once. Her breath caught in her throat. Was this her familiar? Just in case, she removed her fingers from the orb and then tried it again. The same feeling washed over her. Having been firmly convinced that this was the one she was meant to have, she grasped it gently and pulled it out, opening her eyes to see what it was.
