Nyirko sighed. When he said begin, she got up from her seat and walked over to the teacher. She was defiant as always and looked him straight in the eyes, not looking away like most would. Though, she was actually anxious to start the project he suggested. Painting was something she'd done once and had loved it. She even had an idea for what she was going to make. Which was odd, cuz the idea was a little nuts. "I was late. I know. You don't have to give me a lecture, Mr. Onis." She wasn't polite but she wasn't rude about it either.

He nodded, accepting her excuse, "Don't be late again or I'm going to assign you something extra to do instead of coming to my metal class." The corner of his lip twitched in silent laughter. "After all it is the first day so I'll go lenient on you though you should have known where my classroom is. Now please, have fun with the assignment."

Nyirko managed a small smile. "I'll make sure to do that. Thank you, Mr. Onis." Though, I doubt whatever extra you give me will be that annoying. She turned and returned to her seat. On her way, she grabbed some supplies, an easel, several different paint burshes, canvas and paint. Mostly blues and black with white and a skin color and a couple shades of red too. She set up the canvas, took out a pencil and began to sketch something.
Once she was done with a light outline of everything, she undid her paints, took a paintbrush and began painting. She took her time, not caring if she went over class time at this point since she had nothing afterwards. Luckily, she was done before the class was, however. She stopped and took a few steps back, looking at the painting. She tilted her head to one side and then the other. It wasn't so bad. She just wasn't all that good. It didn't look quite like him but she had captured his frosty demeanor enough that if you saw him, you'd recognize him from the painting. It was mostly the aura that filled most of the canvas, and his eyes. She somehow got his cold eyes just right. She sat in her chair and waited, seeing if there was anything else to do.

Matt Onis walked around the classroom watching the different paintings progress; Flowers, rainbows, things showing their love for their own element. There was a wide variety of paintings, a few less creative people were copying pictures from the magazines directly. One of the earth elemental students had actually taken several magazines and made a sort of Picasso style collage by painting each one but not taking much time on any individual one of them. For those that seemed to just be lounging around now that the end of class was nearing he walked back to and told them that if they were sure they were done to move it to the other side on the vertical drying racks and than start cleaning up their supplies and working area. "You aren't excused yet, and those of you who aren't finished yet may finish and stay after to clean up unless you need to get to another class, if you do, please start cleaning up now and finish the work in your free time."

(I know...i just couldn't resist. She didn't really mean to but it just was an idea that popped into her head. :P Who knows if she's going to show it to him? Unless he saw it by accident....)
Nyirko sighed and stood up, stretching slightly. She picked up her painting and brought it to the designated area, setting it to where it couldn't be disturbed too easily and hopefully will dry quickly. She realized how embarrassing that painting could actually be, so wanted to hide it as quick as possible. She returned to her seat and started to clean up. She put the paints away and cleaned the paintbrushes in the sink after having to wait a couple minutes for someone else to do the same. Once she was done that, she went back to her seat and sat down, just waiting again. She didnt realize that some of the blue had gotten in her hair when she had absented brushed it out of her face a couple of times. It looked like she had actually dyed her hair, the blue somehow giving her grey hair more color and life. Which is ridiculous.

"Nice hair."
Leaning against the doorway, Sayren chuckled. He gave no indication as to whether he'd seen the painting or not, but merely surveyed the room slowly. "I haven' t been in here before. It's . . . different." The navy-haired youth looked back to Nyirko. "Do you like it in here?" Somehow, the room reminded him of her. It had . . . a unique flare. Something interesting.
Pushing himself away from the doorframe, the barefoot male sighed and raked a hand through his shaggy hair. "Hey . . ." he trailed off, and Ren cleared his throat as though uncertain as to what he should say. "Are you-" Sayren cut himself off, and then licked his lips before continuing. "You hungry?"

Ren startled Nyirko, causing her to jump only slightly. "Uh, thank you." She was really hoping that he hadn't seen the painting that she just put up to dry. She nods. "It's cozy. The teachers pretty cool too, if you like school anyway." Then he asked his next question and she raised identical grey eyebrows. "Well, yeah." She thought it was kind of cute how he seemed...nervous. He's nervous? Why in the hell is he nervous? Wait...is he asking me out? What the hell? "Why do you ask?"

Sayren shoved his hands into the pockets of his lose black pants, and he observed the girl for a moment before coming up with an answer. "Because I found a secret store of icecream that we aren't supposed to be eating." Finally breaking his gaze away from her, the elementalist felt his face begin to heat. Lifting one hand to cover his mouth, he frowned, trying to force away his nervousness. His next words were more of a murmur. "I was wondering if you wanted some."
His powers reacted to his emotions then, and Ren wasn't aware of the ice forming on the surfaces nearest to him. Glancing down, the navy-haired youth suddenly withdrew all the cold, trying to keep it within him. It wasn't working very well, honestly. "If you're busy, I understand," Sayren blurted suddenly, and took a step back toward the door. He was so used to being a jerk, that asking a question like "do you want some icecream?" was difficult (if not impossible) to do. Making a slow retreat, Sayren shook his head. "You know what," he cleared his throat, embarrassed knowing his blush had darkened, "I just remembered a quiz I have to study for. You have a good night."
With that awkward, sudden cut, he backed toward the door again, shaking his head and looking just about ready to dash away.

Nyirko's grey eyes widened when he asked her if she wanted some ice cream...from a 'secret stash.' She watched him and listened to him. Before he could completely leave, she went out the door after him and grabbed onto his arm before he could start running. Her voice shook a little bit, because now she was nervous too. Not that she really understood what the heck was going on. This was really a first for her. She was more used to fighting than any other real social situation. "If you hang a minute for my class to really finish, I'd be glad for some ice cream. And it can be quick, so you can 'study.' Just, don't run away okay, Frosty?" It took her a moment as she struggled with a word she hated. But she managed to get it out, though it was a little rushed. "Please?" Without waiting for a response, she turned on her heel, going back into the classroom. She looked at the clock, seeing that it actually was a minute until class was supposed to end. She hoped the teacher wouldn't go over the time. She sat in her seat, a little dazed.

Matt, like any of his student was intrigued by the drama unfolding between the two, especially so having seen Nyirko's painting. He looked at the painting and back at the boy in the door and left it alone. No dating was a rule at the school he hated and it wasn't something he was about to stop. "Okay class, now that you are all closed to finished I would like everyone to line up over here so we can take a look at each other's creativity and maybe use some new ideas for next class." He went on by asking what students liked about certain paintings, or why it had stuck out to them. Mostly he was gageing what they were all interested. When Nyirko re joined them he continued with the lesson. "For next class I would like everyone to bring in some items for still life paintings. Something interestingly shaped, or something that has a unique texture. One of the best ways to really get into the painting is to take items that represent your element. We are going to be doing a very fun project with these still life paintings so I expect you all to put in some effort when you choose your items. " He paused momentarily to let the homework assignment sink in. "Those of you who still need to finish cleaning up please do so, the rest of you may head on out and I will see you next class. "

Nyirko listened to the teacher. She growled softly when she heard what their assignment was. It was interesting enough, and something she knew artists tended to do and learn right away. However, she did NOT want to do still life of an item based on her element. She hated her power. But she left without comment other than the quietly obvious disdain, heading away from the classroom. She wondered if Ren would be waiting, like she had asked him too. Why would he be? Even though he asked first, he didn't want to go through with it. I'd get that. She smiled to herself at a thought. I'll just have to keep throwing things at his window then, if he's going to go back on stuff like he did.

Moving to his desk Mr. Onis waited for the rest of the students to pack up and leave before packing up his stuff as well. Several of the students had asked to come back later to finish up their respective paintings. He himself was packing up to move to his office in case anyone needed to talk to him, and to get his daily paper work finished. Making a face he strode off, metal gun still hanging off his hip.

Melesha was just emerging from her office when Matt arrived at his. Her's was across from his door, which she thought was a stroke of luck it wasn't anyone else, since he was usually nice to her. She locked her door and turned to him. "How did your art class go? Have any perspective artists?" She smiles faintly, as she usually does.

Sayren blushed a bit when he heard Nyirko's words, but didn't have the time to reply as she slid back into the classroom. The youth stood there for a few minutes, and then headed toward the other side of the hallway to wait. Since he was in his loose pants and long-sleeved shirt, he let himself sink down to sit. Yes, he was already dressed for bed - but who cared? Feeling the cold floor beneath his feet, Ren let a bit of frost trail over the ground that he was sitting on. With his bare feet pressed against the cool ground, he sighed. What am I thinking?
The elementalist listened to the murmur of classes as they finally let out, slowly trickling into the hall. He kept his maroon eyes down until he heard the art room emptying out. It was then that he looked up, searching for Nyirko. There she was, already heading the opposite direction. Instead of going after her right away, the youth wondered if he should just let it be. After all, no relationships were allowed in school. Who in their right mind created that bogus rule?
Standing, he swiftly headed after the girl, and ended up catching her arm with an icy hand. "Hey," he breathed, his heart rate taking a leap once again. His gaze showed nothing but nervousness, and he shook his head to try and clear it away. "There's a freezer out back where the teachers keep some," he whispered, and slowly let go of Nyirko's arm. "If we stop by the kitchen, we can snag a couple bowls and stuff."
Swallowing, the navy-haired youth averted his gaze. It was then that he spit out a quiet curse, glaring back over his shoulder. Another student had run into him, and he'd stubbed his toe on their boot. Letting out another string of colorful words under his breath, Sayren tried to calm himself down. Honestly, he was freaked out about spending time with Nyirko. But he couldn't get her off of his mind in the first place - so it was a lose-lose situation for him at that moment.
Heading toward the cafeteria area, Sayren glanced to her for the first time since they'd first run into each other in the hall. "So how did class go?" he asked, running a hand through his dark hair nervously.

Nyirko almost electrocuted Ren when he grabbed her arm, which ended up causing her arm hairs and some head hairs to stand on end because of the static. She looked at him as he talked, rubbing her arms on her arms to try and get them to go back down (she had no idea her head hairs were up). She followed him before she stretched her legs out a little more to match his stride, causing her to walk by his side. She shrugged. "Class was alright. Better than a few of the others but its class. Still not really into this type of thing. How were your classes? With the exception of your magic training class. I witnessed that first hand." She grinned at him, obviously harassing him. It was fun when he got riled up.

"My classes were fine," Sayren said, his maroon eyes narrowing as they walked. He immediately stiffened, and frost began to form over his cheeks and fingertips - he was irritated so easily! The youth reached out to pull Nyirko into a side door that led to the kitchen, ignoring the fact that she was already filled with electricity. Passing by a few of the workers, who eyed them warily, Ren snagged a couple paper bowls and plastic spoons.
"Good enough?" he asked, though didn't stick around to wait for an answer. Instead, he turned and started toward the door that led outside. By the time he hit open air, he had ice creeping up the back of his neck, and his actions were a bit more jerky than usual. He was still riled. And now that his emotions were heightened, it wasn't like he could calm down easily.
Sayren glanced to Nyirko, and grudgingly slowed down so she could catch up. Maybe this isn't such a good idea.
They got to the freezer near the back where Sayren swiftly swung it open, revealing over five different kinds of icecream packed into the shelves. "Which kind?" he asked brusquely, and licked his lips before letting out a clouded breath. "And hurry. I don't want to get caught."

Nyirko frowned as soon as he started to be more tense. She hadn't mean to offend him...mostly. She almost freaked out when he grabbed her again, this time pulling her into the kitchen. Before she could respond to his question, he took off. She growled softly and only followed him, expecting him at any minute to turn on her and attack. She could see the frost building. The static started to turn into little sparks giving off of her hair, mostly. She was starting to get irritable herself.
But, she forced a weak smile at him and answered, "Mango sorbet, actually. If they have that. If not, I like strawberry a lot. What kind do you like?" She was trying to be nice but he wasn't making it any easier. She wondered if he regretted waiting for her. He didn't have to. Even though she had been glad he did. She sighs. "And stop being so icy. I wasn't trying to be mean....well, that mean."

"Chocolate," Sayren blurted, and sighed as he reached into the freezer. "They have rainbow sorbet, if you want it." His answer was blunt, but at least he spoke. He then set a container of chocolate on the small table beside the freezer, letting Nyirko get her own icecream. "If you want me to stop being so cold, then you stop being so . . . sparky." He gestured to all of her, and then shook his head. "I just . . . don't usually talk to people like this. Only in class."
From that moment on, he seemed to relax - slightly. It was still "illegal" to be in a relationship, so he didn't even contemplate taking it further than a friendship - at the time. Ren scooped out some of the chocolate for himself, and then ended up offering to help with Nyirko's as well. "We should eat somewhere else though. I don't want anyone seeing us back here."
Nodding toward the tree that grew near the building, Sayren slowly headed toward it.

Nyikro looked around the room, trying to find the icecream. When she did, she moved and started to scoop it, just shaking her head at Ren's offer to help her. She had it pretty much. She followed him out to the tree. "I can't exactly stop being what I am, no matter how much I would want too. But if it helps, I'm not that talkative either. I like fighting more than socializing."
She sat down next to the tree and leaned back against it, taking a bite of her yumminess. "Why don't you like talking to people?" She looked at him, actually curious. She had to admit, even if he was frosty, it suited him well.

"I'm not good with them," Sayren blurted, and then frowned. "With people, that is." He cleared his throat, taking a bite of his chocolate icecream before continuing. "My parents used to think that I'd kill someone, or freeze some kid's hand off on accident. They always kept me inside, even when I was supposed to be in school."
Though he'd never mention it to anyone, the result had been a learning disadvantage. Currently, he was behind in every class . . . and the teachers didn't mention it. They thought it was because he was lazy, and didn't care. Really, it was the fact that he was struggling to learn everything that was so suddenly shoved upon him. At home, he learned what he wanted, when he wanted. Even his family wasn't so keen on teaching him - and his "homeschooling" was never very prominent. It was just an excuse to keep Ren behind closed doors.
"They decided I was getting too out of hand to keep at home." Sayren's maroon eyes filled with disgust, and he shook his head before taking another bite. The bite he exhaled was laced with frost. "So they sent me here. Pathetic, isn't it?" Narrowing his gaze, he looked up at Nyirko. Tilting his head a bit, he took yet another bite. "Why are you here, Sparky? Parents get sick of you too?"

Nyirko took another bite of her dessert, a slow bite. Her eyes stared out towards the lake, a storm brewing. Whenever she thought about her childhood, her life, the sparks started again, always growing in intensity. It do so again now. This time though, unlike earlier in the day, they were actual little bolts of electricity, arching along her all along her skin, though no one would know that because of the clothes she wore. Static was everywhere around her, touching even Ren's hair, causing it to stand on end even. Ozone, the scent before a lightning storm, could be smelled by anyone close by.
When she spoke, her voice was raspy and eyes glazed over. "At least you have parents, Sayren." She shook her head, the glaze leaving her. She looked at him and they widened in horror. She stood too quick, spilling the bowl of almost finished icecream from her lap. She looked at her hands and her arms, seeing the sparks of, to her, death. Then a look of disgust passed over her face. She looked at him as she slowly backed away. If she went too fast, the static would make everything spark and she knew she could cause a fire if she did. "I'm sorry. I, I didn't mean too." Tears were starting to form. "I can't control it." Her voice cracked and she turned and ran.
The electricity didn't cause a fire, thankfully but it left the grass standing on end where they had sat and where she ran. She headed straight towards the rocky shore at one end of the lake. She knew what water did but it always helped to calm her. She always wanted to have power of water. Not this deathtrap.
In the back of her mind as she ran, she wondered what would have happened if she had just stayed and talked to him instead of running. But then flashes of the past came and she knew why. She didn't want to kill the only friend she really had at that moment.
(Holy crap, a long one!!!!!!)

((Oh, take your time, deary. We understand. ;)))
Sayren noticed the scent of the air, and even felt the electricity building beside him. When Nyirko stood suddenly, he started, and he frowned at the girl. "Hey!" But before he could say more, she took off running. Did she kill them? His maroon gaze followed her to the shore, and he glanced about at the strange grass before frosting a path to the sand. Slowly walking up beside her, the youth hesitantly cleared his throat and stood a few feet away. "You sure you want to be alone?"
