Emilia thought she was in a very good home, "Yeah I love my family." She said, thinking about her huge family." I got lucky. I heard a lot of foster kids dont get very good homes." She guess Angel was song of those kids. He seemed to not like his home life very much. Emilia hoped he did have a good home though, even if he didn't.

"Yah some kids do get put in bad homes." the smile that always lit up Karu's face vanished and became life less. "I dont go home often. My foster dad gets payed and thats good for him." his voice changed it became harsh. "My bud lets me crash at his pad somtimes so its cool. Other times i stay at my job. I work in a car shop so its cool with the owner." his smiled retuned but it wasnt as full as befor.

Emilia gave him a worried smile. She felt horrible for Angel, but she didn't want to pry into his business. She hadn't known him that well to do so. She decided to get off the topic, seeing as it was upsetting him. "So what are you up to now?" She asked, swinging her arms slightly.

"Well i dont have work today so i was looking for you." he kicked a small rock that was in his way. "Im 18 by the way and this is my last year in high school." he tryed to change the subject in a nice way.

"Oh, 18 eh?" Emilia asked. "Im 16," She said bubbly. She liked being 16, it was her favorite age so far.
He's much older than me, he must just think of me as a little kid, Emilia thought to herself, looking Angel up and down. He was very attractive, but she already knew that. She could see now though that he was 18. He did look a bit older than her.

"16?" he looked at her up and down he couldnt belive it. She looked alot older then 16. He took another look at her and said "Its just a number to some people." he knew he couldnt have a relationship with her because of what others might think.

"Well It's just a number to me." Emilia said proudly. "And I don't really think it should get in the way of us being friends. So I'm not going to let it." Emilia smiled, trying to reassure Angel that she wanted to be friends with him. It shouldn't get in the way of any sort of relationship either. She thought while looking at him. She did like him, she thought she may even have a crush on him. Emilia liked boys, but she never had a boyfriend before. She wasn't sure how any of that worked. But she did know when she liked someone.

Angel cocked his head to the side. "Friends are a dime a dozen. But a friend like you is one in a millon." he taped her playfully on the arm. He had meny friends. But she seemed to be a nice girl. She was in the system like him and for that he knew they would be good friends.

Emilia blushed hearing his compliments. He tapped her on the arm, making her laugh. She did feel like he thought of her as a kid, but she hoped to change that. "So, lets go do something," She said excitedly, "What do you do for fun? Besides tapping things." She joked. She wouldn't mind doing something he liked to do. Maybe she would like it too, she thought.

"Well im going to a party tonight at a friends house. Hes in a band and he asked me to fill in as a drummer." he didnt want to take her if she wasnt into rock music. "They play rock" he said to see if she liked that kind of music.

Emilia didn't have a favorite genre of music, she pretty much listened to everything. "I've never seen a band play live before," She said to him. "Actually, I've never been to a party before either." She laughed at herself, hoping he wouldn't laugh at her.

"Well as long as you stay next to me you will be fine." he told her with a stern look on his face. He knew that the party wasnt until later that night so he had to find out what to do until then. "Well the party isnt untill later so you want to go to the mall?" he didnt like the mall much but he had to get new sticks for the party.

He's going to protect me, she thought with a smile. "Oh so I guess I'm coming with you?" Emilia liked the sound of that. She had never been to a party, and she was very excited to hang out with Angel some more. She wanted to get to know him better. "I wouldn't mind going to the mall. But I need to stop at my house for a minute, my parents might be worried if I don't come home." She knew her parents wouldn't mind her going out for a while.

"Hey do you mind if i meet them. Its just i want them to know who your with. Ill even do a drug test if they want." he started laughing but he was not joking about meeting them. He knew how parents could be even if he didnt have any. "Also to tell them about the party. If they say no its no ok" he said with a stern look on his face.

Emilia was surprised he wanted to meet her parents. She was very happy though, she knew that they would like him. "They would love to meet you. I don't think they would want you to take a drug test though." Emila laughed at the thought. "I really don't know if we should tell them about the party part, they might worry."

Emilia started walking towards her house, it was only two blocks away. "Do you.." She wondered if he did do drugs. She didn't really care, she knew a few users, including her sister. Emilia thought she should know if he did. She didn't want to find out in a horrible way.

"Do you?" he was blank at what she said. Then it hit him "O drugs. Never touched them i smoke but im trying to quit. I go to partys but i dont drink. Thats why i said for you to stay close if you go to the party with me." he totaly didnt want her to get caught up in that world. "Do you?" he asked knowing she would know what he ment.

"Oh, no. I've never touched the stuff. I don't smoke or drink either." Emilia said, sounding too girl-scoutish for her liking. "Well, I haven't I mean." She said, saving herself from sounding too square.

They continued walking down the street, being about half way there.

"Thats good smoking is bad." he smiled at the voice she just made. He didnt like it but it made time go by faster. He is trying to quit and he finds it kinda hard. "So were you live." he asked as he wasnt aware they were at her house already.

They reached Emilias house, and she opened the front door, letting him in before her. "Mom, Dad?" She yelled, not knowing where in the house they were. She turned to smile at Angel, and her foster parents came into the front room to greet them.
"This is my new friend Angel, he's in foster care too." She said introducing him. Emilia had rarely brought friends home, and never a boy.

Karu flinched at the sound of his name. "Hi im Angel" the last word was hard for him to say but out of respect he let it slide. He put his hand out for the dad and they shook. He gave the mom a friendly hug.

"I just came to let yous know that I'm going to go to the mall for a bit." Emilia said to her parents. "I won't be out too late." She confirmed. Her parents nodded, and thanked her for letting them know. They told Angel it was nice to meet him. She was very nervous introducing her family to her new friend, so she wanted to get it done with quickely.

She began to put her shoes back on, and her mother pulled her aside. "He's very cute" She whispered to Emilia. "MOM!" She replied, quickly looking to see is Angel had heard. Emilia laughed and she headed out the door with Angel.

Angel peeked his head back in the door and said "I like handsome better." he shut the door and walked with Em back to the street to head to his car.

They walked down the street together, enjoying the beautiful weather on the way to Angel's car. "Sorry about all that. I've never brought a boy home before." Said admitted to him. "I think they like you though," She smiled.

"I have a way with parents." he said with a big smile on his face. "Shall we go?"he said as he got in the car and started it up.

Emilia got into his car for the second time today. She wasn't scared like she was the first time. She buckled her seat belt and He buckled his. "Well I'm glad they like you. I like you," She smiled at him. I hope he doesn't take that the wrong way, she laughed in her head.
