"No need to call me miss." Although she did blush. "It's just because it's forbidden. With my tendancy to run off and explore im suprized Ravenclaw even has points left to be honest." She looked at the hourglass that kept track of house points. The saphires for the Ravenclaws have remained untouched. That was good.

"Rules are meant to be broken. Some of them at least." She brushed her hair back away from her face and started to help herself to some food. "I mean, some of these rules are pointless. Like the ones that say we can't be out of bed around the castle after a certain time, or the one that says we need a note to take out a book in the restricted section."

"I-I d-don't th-think I-I've m-moved p-past th-the n-newborn s-state y-yet," Cassi said, joking about her growth defect. While it usually bothered her, it was different with Annie. Maybe it was because Annie accepted her despite her flaws, but it was certainly alluring.
The explanation as to what a Patronus was was riveting, and Cassi found herself devouring every word. It was amazing that an emotion could result in such powerful magic. After all, Dementors weren't small-fry, though there weren't a whole lot in America. Something about all the hope of immigrants keeping them away in favor of richer hunting grounds.
"Expecto Patronum!" Cassi repeated, having watched the tiger leap from the end with awe. She had focused on a happy memory to help it come about, but all she got was a half-formed creature that faded away almost immediately. She frowned in disappointment, looking to Annie for a sign of judgment. Had she done good, or bad?

"You doing very well Casi, beginners on this spell normally can't do that well, what just happened to you happen to me," She smiled softly, trying to help encourage her. "There has to be a really happy memory, think or the day you learned to fly--the day you got Sparky--or even the day you got your Viper. Maybe even combined the three memories. Think positive Cass, I know it hard, but you can do it--try again, I believe in you."

"Th-The h-happiest?" Cassi asked, thinking. She truly was glad for the praise, as it meant a lot to her that she wasn't going to be shunned for failure. That had been one of her biggest fears going into this. Taking a deep breath, Cassi focused. The happiest moment she had ever experienced was meeting Sparky, and the months after. Pulling all of that emotion up, she let it fill her.
"Expecto Patronum!" she shouted, allowing the happy feeling to pour out through her wand, which hummed a crescendo of exuberance. It was always happiest using good magic, after all. But Cassi was still shocked when she saw a full-grown version of a phoenix dragon burst forth from the tip, cloaking the area in a silver glow.
"N-Now wh-what?" she asked, trying to maintain her focus.

Anniebelle nodding, watching closely as Cassi seemed to trail off into deep thought. She watched with amazement as the Phoenix shot from her wand, "That was excellent, Cassi," she cheered, then calming herself to continue, "The color-changing charm is rather simple, you think upon the truest continent of changing the objects color--even if it may be your hair color, skin tone, eye color, anything really. Think up a little spell and point your wand, but remember this spell is only temporary."
She paused, as Rupert walked out on her arm curiously, she pointed her wand as the her weasel, "May his eyes be as blue as the sky's."
Within moments the little red-eyed weasel now had blue eyes, Anniebelle grinned, leaning over to show Cassi, then patting Rupert on the head, before he dashed back into the collar of her shirt.

Nodding as she listened intently to the next lesson, Cassi was only vaguely aware of the Patronus behind her, a roaring phoenix, vanish. Rupert's eyes changing color amazed her, eliciting an applause. Despite being born into it, magic still amazed her."O-Okay," Cassi responded, looking around for something to practice on. Her hat came to mind, and she started.
"Pointy hat with wide brim,
become as rose of prim," she sang, literally, her voice flowing out adorably. It wasn't really fair considering she had the body of a three-year old, but it was what she had. The hat turned to primrose though, now yellowish-white instead of black.
"Like that?" Cassi asked, the excitement coloring her voice.

Anniebelle smile, patting Cassi on the back, "That was wonderful, you did it correctly on you first time, good job. Now the Finite Incantatem or Finite in shortened terms negates the effects of many spells. So when you see someone about to cast something on you, that's the best time to use it, I can't really show you this one, but I can at least tell you how to use it for future reference. Now that you know the color-changing charm, you may never get attacked in Diagon Alley again--and you'll be protected from most Magics. I would love to see what you can teach me."
"Alyssa, I figured it out--I was doing some light reading over the Summer and I don't know what to do -- to either tell you or to tease you about it. We need a cloak or we can do it to ourselves temporarily, but I would prefer the cloak as you probably would too," Evonka grinned leaning over to whisper into Alyssa's ear, "The Disillusionment Charm..but I don't remember how to go about doing it.."

"Dangerous? Dangerous means frightening and scary! Nothing scares me!" At that moment, she shrieked as a large eagle owl swooped down next to the Ravenclaw prefect, Alison, who happened to have just sat down next to her.
"Nothing scares you Aurora?" She laughed a nice kindhearted laugh. "Maybe you should be in Gryffindor then with the rest of the brave ones." She took the Daily Prophet off of the owls leg and gave it a peice of toast before it flew off again.
Aurora blushes as the rest of the Ravenclaw's laughed at the poor timing. Most of them knew well that aurora was frightened of some things. Everybody was afraid of something. The boggarts in some of the darker hallways proved that.

Afanassii raised his eyebrows and smiled but managed to keep from laughing at the scene that had so quickly unfolded before him. In stead, he changed the subject quickly, in the hopes that it might help Aurora save some face. "Why is it that the Griffindors get all the credit for being brave? It seems to me that, sometimes, the reasons we are sorted are hard to understand. We all have a variety of personality traits... I'd be willing to bet that you're just as brave as most of the Griffindors are...." With that, he raised his glass in a casual toast and smiled before finishing his juice.

"Like minds always combine, we can pick up a cloak in Hogsmeade--preferably a man's extra large--just in case we need to stuff more than two people under it," Evonka grinned, "You know that little hex would come in handy to use against some of the really annoying first years. Just to watch them freak out like they normally do, when they see someone or one of their friends of their house get a hex put on them. Our first year here is one hell of a thing to think about, I was more clumsy back then..."

Beaming as Annie praised her for her success, Cassi found herself as bubbly as boiling water. "Wh-Which o-one d-do y-you w-want t-to l-learn f-first?" Cassi asked, smiling as she readied her wand. "C-Contego, o-or th-the sh-shield ch-charm, i-is p-pretty e-easy. Th-The w-wand m-motion y-you d-do is b-based o-on wh-what k-kind o-of sh-shield y-you w-want. U-Unlike F-Finite I-Incantem, th-this p-protects y-you f-from on-only b-basic m-magic, b-but al-also ph-physical o-objects as w-well."
Drawing a small circle with her wand in the air, large enough to cover her body, Cassi exclaimed the incantation: "Contego!" Instantly, a greenish round shield burst into existence in front of her, securing itself to her wand arm. To show it's physical nature, Cassi pounded on it with her other fist, resulting in a loud, hollow banging. "S-See?"
Sitting only a little ways away from Evonka, his Housemate, and her girlfriend, Jacob was quite absorbed in his book. It was on advanced Transfiguration theories, but it was truly riveting; fully expected of the number one transfigurist in the school. That wasn't a brag either. His grades in that class were the highest out of all the Houses, something which he considered trivial. After all, he was here to learn, not become famous for being able to preform complicated spells almost from year one.
Despite being caught up in his reading, a set of terms leaped out at him from the others' conversation. Standing, he closed his book carefully before speaking. "Invisibility cloak? Might I inquire as to the need behind this subject?" he said, taking a seat opposite from them. "I may be able to craft you one, so long as it won't be used for... deplorable acts."

"Wow, that's neat Cassi, I wish I would have known that one a long time ago--it would have helped save me a lot of grief. Well, whatever order you prefer to teach them to me in is fine by me to be honest; I'm always more than willing to learn--the more you know, the more you are prepared for anything life has to throw at you," Anniebelle grinned as she jotted down Contego one her arm and a gist of what it did.
"Gosh, you're no fun, the whole point of an invisibility cloak is to sneak around. I mean it's not sneaking unless you get caught. It's not like I'm an example student, but I don't go around late at night defacing properties or cursing people--or even setting up traps. We just want one to snoop around the Castle when we please and go to Hogsmeade and maybe Diagon Alley whenever we want--with whom ever wants to tag along. How about I make you an offer, since I know you're in Herbology--I'll tutor you or something...or give you a year supply of whatever candy you like--or maybe pick you up a nice expensive book of your choice," Evonka grinned softly.

"U-Um, w-well, V-Vigoratus i-is a-a h-healing ch-charm," Cassi stammered, going over her list mentally. "I-It's r-really s-simple; y-you j-just v-visualize the w-wound wh-whole, a-and i-it'll h-heal i-it." To demonstrate, she found a sharp rock and used it to open her skin, bleeding a good bit. Then she chanted the incatation, and watched as the wound was knit together as if it had never been.
"B-Bigger i-injuries w-will t-take m-more m-magic, o-of c-course," she continued, moving on shortly afterwards. "C-Caliga O-Oscuren m-makes a sm-smokescreen s-so th-that th-the c-caster c-can escape. Watch: Caliga Oscuren!" Flicking her wand straight up in the air, Cassi waited a few moments before the huge cloud of smoke descended upon them with devilish speed.
"Ah, but you misunderstand me; the act of sneaking is not itself a deplorable act. Many a benign outcome has spawned from a bit of sneaking," Jacob replied, smiling slightly with a twinkle in his eyes. "That all sounds well and good, though the bribery insults me. This benefits me exponentially, after all. I've never attempted to craft an invisibility cloak before. Rest assured, you will get the first one that works flawlessly, but any others will need to be paid for."
Popping his book back open, he flipped to one of the bookmarked pages before pulling out his writing case and transcribing pages of notes in a concise, flowing hand. "I presume you will provide the material for such an object?"

"Cassi, America taught you some pretty amazing stuff--you should really speak to McGonagall about adding this stuff into the curriculum," Anniebelle reflected back on Cassi's Father's death. Now, I don't think I'll ever learn the full truth about my parents, She thought to herself. "It really makes me wish I could have attended school with you--prior from this school year."
"Alright then, and I'm glad we see some of the schools rules on the same levels," Evonka sneered. "I've been sneaking around, since the first day of my first year here--this place has never ceased to amaze me. I'm sorry to have offended you, where I come from it's a good gesture to at least offer. It's truly a good service you're doing here, Alyssa and I will make sure to take it on a test run. We'll get a cloak tonight--at some point, I'm itching to crawl into Diagon Alley tonight. Make sure after every cloak you make to erase the evidence of the spell from your wand, wouldn't want you to get caught..."

"That spell is used for other things besides making an invisibility cloak And who are you to charge for making invisibility cloaks? Why are you even listening in?" Alyssa was not normally rude, but she disliked people listening in to conversations. "We can do it perfectly fine without you. We don't need multiple invisibility cloaks around the school. Especially since a certain Slytherin would abuse it." Of course, she was talking about Liliana, who was still in the hospital wing belching up slugs. "Besides, if we needed help we would ask. The one thing I hate is people who listen in to others conversations." Alyssa will speak her mind if someone presses her buttons, no matter who the person is.

Evonka was somewhat stunned by Alyssa's dramatic change in attitude to someone in her house, "Well, well, well, I haven't see you this pissy in ages, but you do have a point mass-producing invisibility cloaks could be rather catastrophic."
Evonka paused, "Jacob, I can't allow you to do that, and yes I know I'm only one person, but you remember what happened to the Langdon child--her first year. We don't need repeats of that by those damned Slytherin's it's bad enough that Liliana still hasn't been expelled by McGonagall, but please--don't add anymore fuel to the already out of control fire. Or--well let me put this nicely--erasing your memory will be the only way you won't get expelled and I really would hate to do that to a fellow house member. I'm trying to be nice about it--I mean it's something my Mistress doesn't approve and and therefore I should not either--no matter how much a mischief maker I am--there's a lot of sense in what she's saying."

"Liliana WONT be expelled. From the view of a prefect shes done nothing that can get her worse than a detention with the Squib. And you know he'll work her good. Jacob, I won't wipe your memory. Hufflepuffs are known to be loyal and true, so I trust that you wont tell anybody." She held her head with both hands rubbing at her temples. She 's found nothing that can help make invisibility cloaks in this book so far... and she still has over a thousand pages left to look.

"And you expect me to offer these out of the kindness of my heart? You mock me," Jacob scoffed, leaning back. "And you insult me once more with your wild, overly dramatic assumptions. I wouldn't have offered if I had even the slightest hint that you'd attempt to use it for malevolent deeds. Not to mention that they're not hard to buy anyway. I just feel that I've come up with a better formula.
"But if you won't offer, I'll find someone else too. I just need to make sure it works for everyone," he sighed with disappointment. "A word of advice for future scenarios: don't assume. It makes an ass out of you and me, but mostly you." Pushing his chair back, he stood before turning away, already scribbling down the steps that would be needed to make sure the cloak worked right. A simple charm wouldn't be good enough, after all; they could be detected.
