Kenshin wasn’t surprised that the people surrounding him disburse after staying that he had a meeting to go to. Unlike them he wasn’t interested in what was going on outside the school and all the news reporters. A small sigh of relief escaped from his lips as he headed down the hall towards his first class of the day, history. Around him he could hear the whispers of other students talking about the fire or saying things like ‘he’s so cute’ as he passed by. He ignored them, closing his eyes slightly. Maybe he should have skipped school again today. It already seemed like it was going to be a very long and bad day. He entered the classroom to see there was a crowd of students at the window chattering away. Just shaking his head he took his seat near the back of the classroom. It was just a little fire and it was outside, not like the school was actually going to burn down or anything.

------

Nikita’s close friend Samantha filled her in on what had been going on outside. “Really, how stupid. All that needed to be done was call the fire department. Too bad the school hadn’t actually caught on fire though so we could all go home.” Her tone was cold. In a way she was kind of envious of the girl who had been so brave. If only she could be brave and have the courage to do what she needed to. Of course she could always use her money to get done what she wanted, but she wanted to do things with her own hands. To make that man pay for everything he has done to her, but now wasn’t the time to be thinking about that. “How did things go with teaching that freshman a lesson?” Aaron spoke up telling about how they beat him and humiliated him after she left. A smirk formed on her lips. “Good good, can’t let someone like that get off easy otherwise they’ll get the wrong idea.” As she was about to say something else her phone started playing the ringtone she had picked for her father. She groaned rolling her eyes. Apparently the news about the fire had already reached him even though he was who knows where. “Damn it. You guys go on to class. I have to take this.” She didn’t really want to pick up, but had no choice. “Hello daddy, how are you?” Her father sounded somewhat frantic, but that was only an act. It only took a few minutes to reassure him everything was fine and he didn’t need to come back early. Her phone made a loud click as shut it. “I hate that stupid old man,” the anger she felt was evident in her voice and she didn’t care who heard what she said. After all she was known around the school for being a bitch.

Akira had just awoken from her little nap. Everyone around her was chatting loudly about something that happened outside. "What is this all about? Aren't we supposed to be 'learning' or something?" like sh cared about the learning anyways. If everyone was learning, she could go back to her nap. The noise in the room was too loud to sleep to. "Seriously. It's too f<*#ing loud in here!" She stood up and walked out of the room, not caring if the teacher was yelling at her.

Setsutarou sighed. "Really, dear sister. We can't just leave whenever we want. We got stuff to learn," he said as he followed her out of the room. He was curious about what was going on outside and wanted to find out exactly what it was even if the teachers didn't want anyone out there.

Jae rolled his eyes at the flock of students who had suddenly rushed outside, either wanting to be televised by a reporter or just simply skip a few minutes of class. Slamming his locker shut, he balanced his books on his hip and entered his first class of the day, History.

As he entered the room, he could see that most of the students were crowding around the window like it was some sort of magnet. The teacher was trying to get them to calm down, without any results. Jae sat down at a desk near the back but not so back that he wouldn't be able to listen during class. Sure, most of the time Jae was dozing off in first period, but he could also answer any questions thrown at him this way.

When Setsutarou saw Jae enter the school, he sighed. Oh great. That's what everyone was fussing about? What a prat. He leaned against the wall with his arms crossed, waiting the male walk to class. Maybe I should teach that git a lesson. He followed the boy. Placing his hands on the desk and leaning over it, he glared at the boy. "You, sir, are a real ass." He stood up straight and crossed his arms over his chest.

Akira looked over her shoulder to find that her brother was missing. "Now where did he go?" Right as she was about to turn around and continue walking, she saw him walk into a classroom after the famous guy. Oh great. This isn't going to turn out good. She stood there for a few seconds debating whether to stop her brother or just let it be. She knew she already had detention for today, but she couldn't afford her brother to get arrested for starting a fight with another student. Not with their little secret and everything.

Jolene watched Jae enter and sit down calmly. Hmmm, he didn't appear to be affected by the reporters and firefighters outside. She knodded in appreciation for his maturity... then raised an eyebrow. Setsutarou followed Jae to his desk and now looked like he was picking on him. She turned and rose, standing there wondering if she should step in or not. She kept a cool gaze on them and waited.

Terry walked in behind Akira wishing his shirt had had time to dry. He paused mid-stride as he saw Jolene stand. She rarely reacted to much... being too cool and spicy to let anything affect her. He saw where her gaze rested and felt a moment of jealousy. How much time had he spent trying to get her attention? He grew still.

Kenshin glanced over watching Jae and Setsutarou. More drama, just what we need right now. He raised an eyebrow when Jolene stood up. How curious, normally something small like this wouldn’t get her attention. This could turn out interesting. He relaxed in his seat deciding it would be best just to stay a spectator for now. A small smile was on his lips as he watched.

Jae looked up at Setsutarou, who had followed him into the classroom. Another commotion, oh great. Jae groaned inwardly. Why can't everyone just leave me alone...

The teenager glanced upwards as Setsutarou hovered above him and glared rather menacingly. "Maybe I am." Jae shrugged, surprised at his statement. "But why would you care?" Out of the corner of his eye, Jae noticed Jolene, the well-known 'teacher's pet' walk his way. He raised an eyebrow at her, then focused back on Setsutarou.

"Tess, how would I have been able to start the fire if I was with you guys the whole morning?" Stephen could not believe how many times he had to explain to his friends that the school fire was not another of his stunts. It was impressive, sure, but the orange haired boy was never really into arson.
"Well, you could have set it up to start automatically.", replied the student with curly hair and sleek, horn-rimmed glasses. She grinned as she proposed her theory but Stephen merely shook his head.
"It's not really my thing to do something as big as this without someone actually seeing me. But whoever did this was really gutsy. I guess they probably aren't too fond of school...." Bright blue eyes looked out the window of the Music class once more. The fire trucks were still at the school, some of them going around back to check on the rest of the school grounds. He found it a little ironic that a fire should start today after fire alarms were set off yesterday. Wasn't the fire supposed to come before fire alarms? The thought made him laugh a little.

"So are you still going after the paint in the Art rooms later?", his friend, John, asked while writing down some notes in his notebook.
"Not anymore. At least not today, anyways." Stephen paused to turn a page from his music sheet before continuing. "They'll most likely up the security now." After the interruption from the fire, the lessons continued as usual. Some students still continued to whisper about it and eventually even the teacher joined in on the speculations. Stephen, too, had his suspects.

On the top of his list was Klaus, though he's never heard of the guy wanting to do damage to the school before. The second was that scary kid from his Spanish class. The way he acted showed that there was definitely something not right with him. And the last suspects were the Hasegawa siblings. He knew them to be unpredictable and neither of them, to his knowledge, seemed to ever enjoy their stay in school.
If any of them were discovered to be the arsonist, Stephen was sure he wouldn't be surprised.

"I d'unno," Joyeuse said suddenly, frowning at her toes. Were her right toes longer than her left? That was weird. Not that she could tell without measuring them though. The man behind the desk sighed, and she looked up at his birdish face. His nose seemed more like a beak than cartilage, and his eyes were really beady. He tapped his pen against the desk for a few moments before he came up with another question.

"Your mother tells me you have episodes were it's as if you don't have control over your body. Is that true?" the man, Dr. Cruse, asked kindly.

Joy sighed before nodding slowly, aware of his satisfied smile. He had been trying to coax answers out of her for the past thirty minutes, but this was the first real breakthrough he had. The man scribbled it down onto his clipboard before he looked up, ready with another question.

"That really helps narrow things, sweetie," he commented, giving her another one of his smiles. They were nice and warm, but she didn't really feel anything in return. "Do you like being around others?"

Joy shook her head from side to side. Cutting his next question off, she said, "They don't really like me, and I'm pretty sure that they'll hurt me if I try to get to close." Like yesterday, when a cheerleader had slugged her in the arm because of her gift to Jessica earlier.

"I see," he said, chewing his lip before he continued. "Tell me, have you ever had intense hallucinations out of nowhere?"

"Yeah, bunches of times actually. It's really weird. I can hear and see lots of stuff, like waterfalls and rainbows and stars and paint. It's very beautiful," she rambled, which the doctor found interesting for some reason.

"And about how often does it occur?" he asked, eyeing her curiously. At least they weren't as weird as the questions he had started with, like if she saw colors for every letter and number, tasted something with every sound of a word, etc. Of course she did. Didn't everyone?

"I'd say about once a month, though sometimes twice, or even three times," she explained, looking at her toes again. Really she was just trying to ignore his eyes on her. They seemed to be ripping her apart and weighing her; seeing how she measured up on some invisible scales.

"Interesting," he said, nodding to himself. "Would you send your mother in? After I talk with her, you can come back in and talk about whatever you want." She nodded before leaving. Her mother came in a few minutes later looking angry as a cat that just got drenched.

"Mrs. Frosin, would you have a seat?" he asked, gesturing to the open chair. "I have three questions for you. First, does Joy seem to have any magical or superstitious beliefs?" The woman nodded, eyeing him oddly. She was certainly not a woman to cross.

"Second: does Joy seem to behave eccentrically or oddly?" Another nod. So he was probably right, but the third question would confirm it beyond a shadow of a doubt if the answer was yes. "Third: does she seem to obsess over the cause of her past problems? Sort of like reverse worry?" A third nod. Three strikes; you're out.

"Well, I have enough information to diagnose your daughter then. Would you please get her for me?" She frowned as she stood and left to do as requested, coming in a few minutes later with an iron grip on her daughter's arm. It was obviously uncomfortable for the small girl from the way she lifted her right side up to her mother's level.

"From the questions I've asked, and the information I've gathered from meeting Joy, I can safely say that she has two conditions," he announced, eyeing the clock. It had only taken him forty-five minutes to do so. "Her first condition is called synesthesia, which is the blending of the senses. It's why she sees letters and numbers in colors and all that stuff. That's not a problem at all though. The second condition explains her personality. She has Schizotypal Personality Disorder, which isn't the end of the world. It's untreatable, but it is manageable, so I'll want to see her at least once a week. Other than that, she's a perfectly healthy girl, and that's not even a major condition."

Doctor Cruse couldn't help but feel sorry for the girl though. Her mother obviously blamed her, and it showed in the way she treated her daughter. Shaking his head slightly, he spoke. "Could you leave, Mrs. Frosin? I told Joy that she could talk to me about anything once I got that out into the open." The woman obviously wasn't pleased, but she nodded and left.

Joy stared at him curiously for around a minute before he asked her what she wanted to talk about. Surprisingly, she opened up. She talked about art, which she obviously loved more than anything she had, including her parents, what was good luck and what was bad luck, the fire incident, and how she thought her paintings were going to sell. The entire time, she laid on the sofa backwards, staring up at the ceiling as she spoke. The doctor couldn't help but smile.

Yawning, Tabitha’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she woke up. She sat up a bit and looked around her not sure where she was. “When did I fall asleep,” she questioned herself finally realizing that she was in one of the practice rooms. Yawning again she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. “I wonder how long I was out. No matter, I’ll just clean up here and get to class.” In a bit of a hurry she grabbed her bag and put away the music books and some of the sheet music. Then she proceeded to put the instruments where they went. Picking up her guitar she placed it into its case. Looking around she double checked to make sure the school instruments were where they belonged. “Guitar, clarinet, bag and sheet music that should be everything I think.” She slung her messenger bag over her shoulder as well as the strap to her clarinet case before picking up the guitar case. Today would be fun since she would be carrying her guitar around school with her. Making sure she had the sheet music she left out in her other hand she carefully opened the door and headed down the hall to the music room.

Once at the music room she opened the door and quietly entered, hoping to go unnoticed. Of course that was close to impossible since there was no way the teacher wouldn’t have noticed by now that she wasn’t in class. “Sorry that I’m late.” At least she thought she was late. Mr. Snively motioned for her to take her seat and went back to discussing the fire. Walking over to her seat which was a few seats down and in the row in front of Stephen’s her head was tilted slightly to the side. Fire? What fire? Did Klaus do something and I missed it because I was napping? Darn it, I’ll have to text him later. Once in her seat she got out her clarinet and music just in case class would resume. After a few moments she turned towards Stephen and his friends. She didn’t know them well, but figured they were as good as anyone to ask about what was going on. “Umm…excuse me, but what is everyone talking about? Was there really a fire?”

Stephen looked up when he heard someone ask about what was being talked about. Quite frankly, he was surprised there was someone who didn't know about the attempt to burn down the school. "Yeah, didn't you know? There was a fire at the school's garden. The whole thing's gone now. Scorched some of the school's walls a little, too.", he informed the oblivious girl. Two other classmates near them nodded in agreement to his statement, adding how the firefighters were still in the parking lot and that there was a news crew who interviewed a student from the school about something.
"Where were you anyway? How come you missed it?", he asked her in turn. Stephen only knew the girl by her last name, Klein. However, she was renown, if not in the whole school then at least to the people who have watched the school's marching band and football games, for the fact that she was as skilled with an instrument as she was talented in singing.

Annabella looked at Klaus as he spoke to her, she tilted her head to the side. She looked at the ground and smiled softly, "I'll keep that in mind but I still wish to be your friend." Annabella smiled and seen that he was on his phone. She looked away a little and waited until he was done.

Pilaris looked at Knight as he finshed wrapping her wrists. She listened to him talk for a while and narrowed her eyes a little as it was clear her plan was seen. 'Damn it, that didn't last long.' she said in her head until she heard the question about the garden, "I know, its such a shame how that happened." Pilaris said in her sweet and gently voice as she blinked her red eyes. He started looking at some blue flower that was near the window that was in water, when he told her what they were and how rare they were, Pilaris smiled softly. "What if I told you I know where to find Dragon Lillies? My mother owns a few flower shop here and there, if you want. I can get you some free Dragon Lillies that we recently got last week, just say 'Pilar sent ya.'" she said then stood up and stretched a little. "And to be honest, I actually didn't. You have nothing to apologize for Mr. Knight and Ill be here right after school." she said in her perfect voice and walked out the office and down the hall. She waved to Knight and growled evilly to herself. 'That didn't last long, I have to think of a more dangerous plan. I want to ruin this school, word of that fire will spread around school in an instant. Good thing I got rid of the fluid and burned the match, then again the couldn't find me prints.' she though to herself and continued walking to her next class.

Alyssa was wordless at what Lyssa said. Trust? Keeping secrets? That was all new to her. As she made her way into the school building, she noticed the girl on the skateboard again. Why does that girl look so familliar? Shyly, she raised her hand up to wave at the girl.

Alison, slightly taken aback that someone who never talks to her was waving, didn't notice the trash can in front of her. She raised her hand to wave back and ran into the trashcan. Thankfully, it was recently emptied and the only thing that spilled out was a coffee cup from teh convienece store down the street. She got up hoping that not many people notices, and grabbed her skateboard to walk into the school, her face a bright red against her blue hair.

Lyssa followed behind Alyssa, chuckling grabbing her helmet, "I'll see you after school, god we're so late. I'm late for one of my favorite classes, History.."

Lyssa got into her class, Mrs. O'Brian looked up at her quizzically, "You know it's mighty troubling, your second day of school and you're late for your first day--first period class. Go--have a seat and get started on today's lesson. I would suggest not playing around with your Motorcycle tomorrow morning so you're not late."

"Yes, Ma'am and it's a Ducati--the first one was built in 1965. History lesson seems to be on the Bubonic plague--also known as the Black Plague. It went from 1348 to 1350 and it also helped lead to the Peasants Revolt of 1381. May I just take the test and ace it already," Lyssa grinned as she walked backwards to her desk.

"I was told you were an exceptionally bright student, but you're going to just have to wait and take the test Friday morning," Mrs. O'Brian retorted.

Lyssa went and settled into an empty desk and stared up at the ceiling, humming 'Ring Around the Rosie.' She started getting some awkward stares, she grinned from ear to ear. She stopped humming and then just stared out the window bored with the lesson.

Klaus sighed, and looked over at her once more. He looked her over a bit and a few thoughts raced through his mind. He leans against the wall a bit. "Anything else" he asked and placed his phone back in his pocket. He waited for her to speak.

----------

Knight watched Pilaris as she left. He looked back at the flowers, then thought about what she had said. He sighs and turns back out the window. He thought she had been acting a little to sweet about it all and a little to cla. "She couldn't have had anything to do with it...could she?" he shakes his head, "what am I thinking". He grabbed his coat and closed the office door, going out to see if everthing was ok.

“Really? That’s a shame about the garden.” Tabitha listened to the others as they added more to the story. With all the commotion that was going on she was kind of glad she had been in one of the practice rooms and oblivious. As she thought about what happened she considered who might have caused the fire. Klaus was a good possibility, but she wasn’t sure if had been the one who started it.
It was too embarrassing to admit the real reason she didn’t know is because she was sleeping so Tabitha just told half the truth. “Oh I got here early so I went to one of the practice rooms to get in some practice and to work on a song. Thank you for filling me in. Umm…you’re Stephen right?” Even though it didn’t really matter to her if others knew who she was she tried to keep track of those she had class with.

Annabella looked at Klaus and smiled as he spoke to her again. She thought for a moment then smiled more, "You haven't answered my question." she said giggling.

Pilaris continued walking and spotted her cosin with Klaus, 'Interesting, this I gotta see.' she said and hid behind a wall and listened into the conversation.

Walking back through the school, Joyeuse ignored the whispers and stares of the scrabblers, the ones who were late for their next class. She had an excuse, of course, but she'd still rather not be here. Begin diagnosed with Schizotypal Personality Disorder, or any Personality Disorder for that matter, was not a good way to start the day, and especially not after almost dying in a fire.

Opening the door to her history class, she handed Mrs. O'Brian the excuse, ignoring her raised eyebrow, and made her way to the back of the class, self-conscious due to all the stares from her fellow classmates. She sat in the back as usual, only eyeing another girl, apparently new, with slight curiosity before pulling out her second sketchpad. Luckily, Mr. Leumo always kept art supplies on hand for her. He knew how her parents got after all.

After a moment of thought, she began to draw. She found it appropriate to draw what she thought the Bubonic Plague would've looked like all those years ago considering that they were studying it at the moment, though the girl a few seats over seemed bored. People stood petrified in doorways, staring as a man was dragged down the street to a shallow ditch, his limp body covered in buboes. At the head of the grave, a priest stood to preform the man's last rights, while a wind swept in, tousling everything from the trees to the houses.

It was a pretty depressing image, but it felt... right. Joy was certainly in no mood to paint something cheery. She viewed her drawing again, touching it up here and there with details so that it actually looked like a photograph. To most, it would seem to be an actual portrait from around that time period, unless you were used to Joy's drawing style, of course.

She continued drawing though, unaware of how much of her work was on display to the new girl, Lyssa.

I started going to school here late yesterday morning. Jolene felt the scrutiny of the other classmates, especially when Terry stopped in the doorway. Picking up her bag, she pretended to have an air of self-indignation and moved to the back. She tried to hide how much she cared about others. Too many times at another school she had been used and manipulated like a servant. Taking her new seat. She looked out the window, maintaining her cool and spicy pose.

Terry had moved to just inside the door and was leaning against it studying the students who looked like they were about to be in a fight, and Jolene, when Joyeuse came in the door beside him. Evidently she didn't see him on her way in. He waited by the door as she took her seat. Jolene seemed to wake up and pull herself together. He knew her from her last school. They both had attended there before transferring here a couple years ago. He wouldn't believe the transformation she went through. Back then, she would have broken up any fight before it began... with him probably covering her back. Now she had a lofty personality and only really got along with the teachers. While he managed to be friendly to most students, it bugged him how she seemed to no longer care about those around her... especially him.

"What's your deal? You walk in here like you own the place. No one gives a damn that your father is a mobster. If you're such a big shot, why don't you fight me?" the boy stood, waiting for a reply from the other. He didn't care if the whole class was watching or that the teacher was furious with the interruption he had caused. Not even his sister yelling at him was bothering him.

Akira stood behind her brother, telling just to leave the kid alone. She didn't like him either, but they couldn't afford to get the cops called to the school. "Setsu, it's not worth it. Let's go. We're already in enough trouble today." She knew right away that her words didn't affect her brother. He just stood there and stared down at the boy.

Jumping like she had just been goosed, Joyeuse turned to eye Lyssa curiously. "I wasn't staring," she said simply, her eyes flickering to the conflict at the front of the room. She saw Terry and waved, though she frowned at the two boys who were getting ready to fight. They were stupid for starting anything here. Regardless, she turned back towards Lyssa a bit apprehensively. "Joyeuse Zoelie Frosin," Joy responded, turning back towards her art. "But I go by Joy. It's easier for others to pronounce."

Joy couldn't help but feel that Lyssa, along with everyone else in the room, knew that she had Schizotypal Personality Disorder, which explained her odd anxiety. Her parents said that that made her an awful human being, so she felt that it did as well. She knew it was silly to believe that everyone knew about her disorder, but she couldn't help but feel that they would treat her like her parents if they did. Even though Doctor Cruse hadn't treated her any differently, she couldn't shake the feeling that everyone else would.

Lyssa sighed, rubbing her temples fighting the ongoing headache the quarreling students had started causing her normally shy state of mind to dissipate, "You seem a little tense, Miss. Joy, but then I could see why--I'm finding it hard to stay in this room myself. I swear it seems America is just as bad as Germany--if not worse. It's nice to meet you though."

She turned her attention to the two student who were about to get into it, questioningly, "Do you two have to carry on your cat fight, right in the middle of class? You would seriously think you wouldn't try to set more bad examples for the foreign kid."

Finally turning her attention to Mrs. O'Brian, "Ma'am, may I be excused? All the whining these two children are doing over who gets to play with the first edition star wars action figure, is giving me a headache and making me want to throw up. I promise to get an 'A plus' on the test Friday."

Mrs. O'Brian looked at Lyssa curiously, "You're looking a bit pale Mrs. Rose, go and get a bit of fresh air, don't go off campus, and behave--or at least try to, please?"

Lyssa nodded as she got up and left, making her way to the front steps of the school she pulled out her bottle of Gatorade and started to sip on it. Then pulled out her pack of cigarette's she lit one and started smoking it as she looked out onto the parking lot at her Ducati.I'm surprised no one has messed with my bike yet, good thing no one has messed with it yet.., she thought.

Hearing Mrs. O'Brian call her up to the desk, Joyeuse sighed before closing her sketchbook and obeying. "We're really not supposed to allow students to leave like that without another student. Would you go with her to make sure she's okay?" the older teacher asked, obviously expecting an affirmative answer. Joy nodded before leaving the room, her books already in her arms. She followed Lyssa out of the building to the steps, sitting down next to her out of nowhere.

"Mrs. O'Brian wanted me to make sure you were okay and stuff," Joy said, pulling out her art supplies again. She began drawing then, specifically focusing on a motorbike she saw in the parking lot. It was really nice, even though she was clueless about cars and vehicles. Her tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth, she started with the background as usual, working her way up to the details of the actual bike, and the other stuff in the foreground. In a few moments, she had the Ducati drawn in precise details, again making it look like a photograph. That was just the way she drew though. Her art looked completely different when she wanted it to.

She wasn't just good with drawing and painting though. She could sculpt, design, etc. Pretty much everything artistic was something she could do. Pottery, modeling, photography, drawing, painting... the list went on forever. That was why she was so close to Mr. Leumo, as well as the head of the art gallery in town. It was ritzier of course, but a lot of people loved her artwork and continued to buy it. Several articles had actually been run about her, though she didn't know about most of them. Her parents took care of stuff like that. Frowning, she set her drawing aside for a moment, just breathing in the fresh air.
