"Well I'm sure if it's around it woudln't be sitting quiet would it? I mean after all how many things would wait." she said, "I mean after all we're going to be on guard all the time..."

The meeting had long ended before Histra returned stalking into the kitchen, "There you two are..." she said sternly, "didn't I tell you to stay in the..." she paused smelling the mouse, dinner? she questioned.

Hikari didn't answer her right away, "We umm, well, we need some cheese... and umm..."

He looked at the cat "you touch him, and i won't be to happy." he said glaring. He knew she was planning something, but he didn't wan the little mouse, that might be able to help, get hurt.

"Well that only increases the confirmation.." Histra said, "and here I thought I was smelling things..."

"Histra!" She said, "It's not dinner! you may not eat Ezulu's mouse."

The cat looked a little defeated, "Thats not fair... I meant to mouse... I'm not meant to sit around and get fat!" she said sighing, "But fine I won't do anything to it... I promise..."

Ezulu pick up the cheese, and squeakers. "you better not.." he was protective, because they didn't get to go and look for a familiars, and he found an animal that he can communicate with.

"You humans are far to fun to bother, I blame the gods for giving me the stupids cravings to hunt, yet mind you I can control them." she said poshly.

Hikari looked at her confused, "I don't understand you sometimes." she said.

"You mean to tell me you thought a cat could normally talk... and cast spells. Child you have much to learn... familiars are human spirits trapped in an animals body to protect their charge adn guide them." she said, "and judging by your reaction with your mouse you think he may be your familiar... You know you can have them awoken so it can talk as well right?"

"you just lost me....I don't know they were sperits, I didn't know they could talk, besides you..and you now confused me.." he said rubbing his forehead.

"we were once humans, like you and Hikari," she said, "We can only talk if you ask the right wizard. Most of us are pretty old. They tend to only use the wisest of witches and wizards to become familiars, ones that have lived long lives. Mind you I wouldn't mind being human again for a while again."

Hikari stood there in amazement, "I think she may actually be being serious..."

Does that make sense?"

"I think I get it now..." Hikari said actually making sense of the mental picture.

"so you can only talk to sertin people.." Ezulu asked starting to understand, but still a little lost.

"no, no.... when a wizard awakens you, you can talk to anyone... until that you can only take to the family line that you guide." she said.

"Than How can I understand him?" he asked again still slightly confused.

"maybe its a new assignment?" she said, "familiars are sent to protect generations of a family. me for example has been protecting the females of Hikari's line for many generations... if you are the first of your line to have a familiar it will pass through the generations..."

"I have no brothers, and I don't know if my father had one." He said and picked up the mouse.

"Must be a first than." Hikari said, "maybe thats why only you can hear him..."

"thats possible," Histra added, "I mean if he hasn't been awoken yet than only the person meant to have him will find him, but your hearing him may have been a mistake cause how many animals walk around talking."

"besides you..none that I know." Ezulu said and chuckled at himself. "so did I just stumble upon him, or was I meant to have him?" he asked and he would stop asking.

"Well if you hear him talking than you are meant to have him... why not as him if he wants to stay with you..." Histra suggested

"ok.." he siad and looked down at the mouse. "you wana stay with me?"

The mouse sat silent for a secont. Yeah planed on it..he said slightly sarcastic. Yea, he planed on it.." ezulu said again and chuckled.

"YAY" hikari said excited, "You should see if he wants to get awakened so he can talk too... So now you've got a familiar,"

"but how do I go into awaking him?" he asked. He was happy the little guy wound stay.

'You find a more powerful mage to do it..." Histra said, "One who's done it before... like the head master."

"You mean you know the headmaster hist?" hikari asked
