She had slept on the planning of the vacation, though she would also have to run the idea of it by Adrienne. After all, Diana had to get approval. It was only polite.

In the morning, her hair was tousled on the white pillows. Her pet bunny was asleep at the foot of the bed as well, and Kai was sprawled on the couch. She looked at her clock. "11:40 AM?! Mmmm...no...five more minutes..."

Diana definitely was not a morning person. She stayed in the warm comfort of her bed, yawning and closing her eyes once again.

She couldn't sleep right away, but her eyes were still tired. Thinking about Devon's attitude made her a bit jumpy. Of course it was hard when someone lost both their parents. Diana wouldn't know, though, but she never spent enough time with hers in any case. Diana wanted to cheer him up the most. If neither she or Devon felt anything more than friendship at this point, she would rather be his friend then. He was still a little younger than her, if only by a few months, but their outlooks on life were completely different. She wondered just what she saw in him though.



And neither was Kai. He heard his sister mumbling something aloud and flinched. The night before, he was making tea for Adrienne and they talked for a little while longer until they both went to their respective rooms - except for the fact that Kai had no room in the mansion and was staying with his sister.

He had found her asleep at her laptop, and took a look at the vacation sites. He made a face, wondering why Diana would be planning a vacation at this time, shut down the computer and carried his sister to her bed, while he ran a hand through his hair before laying down on the sofa across the room.

In the morning, he looked at the clock as well, and to his sister who seemed to want to stay in bed. He wanted to stay where he was as well, but at the same time, wanted to see Adrienne...and figured he should make Diana some pancakes, otherwise she'd freak out.

Stretching, he rolled himself off the couch and headed out the door, with no care to his current appearance.

Alexis arrived at the mansion, she looked around confused with no intention at all to enter the large house.

Adrienne had awoken a few hours earlier and was sitting in the kitchen reading over a booklet she'd been given before taking a break from her work. She'd wanted to keep up with everything and they were fine with her working from home for a few days, or at least until she got settled.

She was gripping her favourite red pen poised so that she could easily make comments on the page to anything that seemed inappropriate or any grammar that was off. The story seemed to be particularly interesting because she paid no heed to the time or what was going on around her.

Devon lay in bed staring at the ceiling. He fell awkward at the moment, wondering why he'd jumped to conclusions. It was more than likely that she would discover her true feelings of dislike towards him and they would both move on with his life. He hated his pessimistic attitude more than he ought to.

His parents were gone too, so it made it even more awkward for him. Was she only providing this trip to pity him for his great loss. He rolled over on the bed so he could look at the clock. Chloe was snoozing at the foot of the bed and didn't seem to give a care in the world to what time or what day it actually was.

His studies were on the desk that he'd found and dragged up here and he glanced at them momentarily. He needed to do some work but he didn't feel like it at the moment. A nice breakfast might do him some good, but he wasn't hungry so he finalized that it would be best if he stayed here and pondered for the rest of the day on the reasons that he was unworthy of so many things.

The extra five minutes had passed, and Diana's Bunny was batting her face with his tiny, leathery paw. "Mmm...no...I don't wanna wake up!" She elicited a yawn and immediately opened her eyes. "Ugh, almost twelve? What've we been doing last night?!" she asked Bunny. Diana pet the top of his furry head and Bunny chirped in happiness. A moment later he sniffed his empty bowl of carrots and stared at Diana, indicating he was hungry. Diana laughed. "All righty, fine, let's go get you some fresh food to eat. My bed's too warm anyway." She got out of her bed, and went towards her fridge. "You eat pretty fast...but at least your food is healthy." She took out more carrots and a couple of leaves of lettuce, putting them into Bunny's food bowl. She then set it on the floor and Bunny immediately hopped towards it. Diana smiled. "All right, time for me to take a bath. Be good and finish your food!" She went towards her bathroom and started up the shower, closing the door behind her.



Kai was downstairs in his wrinkled shirt and raised his eyebrows in surprise to see Adrienne there. "Morning, Adrienne!" he greeted her with a smile. "How long have you been awake?" he asked. "I'm about to make some breakfast for me and my sis, would you like some?" he added. He looked away, kinda embarrassed that he was disheveled but that was when he felt his best, when he didn't have to look it. "It's 11:45...kinda late, but well, if you're too busy don't let me bother you," he chuckled, rubbing the back of his head.

Adrienne had been so absorbed in reading that she barely heard what Kai actually said. In fact she didn't even notice him enter. When he spoke though she jumped and almost fell off of her chair from surprise.

"Don't sneak up on me like that," she said with a hand over her sternum. "Did you just get up?" She was a bit surprised that he was still here since she had expected him to actually leave during the night. A smile spread across her face as she though about it. She shook her head quickly then. "I'm not really all too busy," she admitted.

Devon ended up drifting off to sleep again and he woke only about fifteen minutes later. He looked at the ceiling for signs of the building collapsing on him but when he found none he let out a long drawn sigh.

"Diana's a good friend," he said to himself. "Attractive, yes, but just a friend." He didn't sound confident as he spoke and he let his eyes shut again but he didn't sleep. Chloe had wormed her way up next to him and laid her head on his chest now, letting out a soft sigh.

Half an hour later, Diana emerged from the shower, feeling refreshed but hungry. She dressed herself in her closet, wearing another one of her favorite cocktail-style dresses, but nothing that would get stained, and simple heels that wouldn't be problematic. Not like she planned to go out, but at least the snow SHOULD be melting, if her bed was too hot. When she was done and her hair was blow-dried and set into place, she headed outside into the hall without her bunny. In the kitchen, she looked for her brother. "Hey Kai I was wondering where you were." She then noticed Adrienne. "Oh, hey Adri! What's up? Where's Dev?" Diana looked around.



He grinned. "Yeah, little sis fell asleep at her computer so I had to make sure she was in bed, after you and I had tea. I had to sleep on the couch!" he laughed. He sighed. "So, are you hungry? I can actually cook more things than my sister can," he joked, knowing that Diana really hated to cook, after a traumatic event that happened when they were younger. "Is Devon still asleep?" He wondered where Adrienne's younger brother was, expecting to be somewhere around downstairs. Looking through the cabinets, he was looking for supplies he needed to make some food. Kai knew his sister would prefer a good berry and walnut salad in this weather, and pancakes weren't always good for breakfast. It was lunch pretty soon anyway, so he decided to make the appropriate things - orange-dipped Belgian waffles, that salad, some fresh iced tea...and then he ran out of ideas. "Anything sound good to you for a brunch?" he then asked, laughing at his uncreativity.

Adrienne seemed a bit surprised at first that Kai was offering to cook for her. When he asked her what would sound good she laughed slightly. "I'll just have cereal with milk to be honest," she said. "I prefer anything that doesn't have a lot of sugar."

She noticed Diana at that point and she smiled at her. "Good Morning Diana," she said with a grin. "By the way have you seen my brother. Apparently he hasn't gotten up yet this morning and its a bit strange. Normally he's up by now."

Devon was still staring at the ceiling, studying every little speck that he saw. He was intensely distracted by it so he didn't notice when Chloe squeezed her way through the doorway, which was cracked open.

"You're just in time, Diana. I whipped up brunch for us. Adrienne, what kinda cereal do you want?" He thought it was a good idea. Kai preferred cereal as well but since he was gonna be visiting for a while he might as well take care of his sister. Any arrogance he might have had at first vanished as he got to know Adrienne better.



"It's afternoon now," she corrected, smiling. "No I haven't seen Devon. Is he still asleep too? Yesterday was really eventful though, but thank you for it!" Considering it was Devon's birthday, the previous day had a lot of stuff planned into it. "I think he's kinda sick though. He didn't look well last time I saw him. You should check up on it," she suggested. She then turned to her brother. "Thanks for breakfast, Kai! I haven't had this in a while," Diana giggled. "Oh and um, Adrienne, I needa ask you something later so just keep that in mind."

Anastasia was glad to see people in the kitchen. She stepped in and leaned on the door frame. "Hey guys." she said with a bright smile as she pushed a few loose strands of hair out of her face.

Diana hadn't noticed there was a new person living at the mansion, and was surprised to see someone else there, considering that the day before she'd mostly spent time with Devon, albeit a bit tedious. She noticed her brother looking away, his attention focused on the cereal he was pouring into two bowls.

"Uhm, hi..." she started, smoothing down her hair that was tied in her signature white ribbon. "I don't believe I've met you. I'm Diana...and you are?"

Adrienne just nodded to Diana's question before turning to Kai. She stood up and walked over to the cupboards to look for herself. When she found something she wanted she pointed at it. "That's my favorite kind but its always too high for me to reach," she said with a slight smile.

It look to be like a cereal that was primarily made of wheat rather than oats. She was smiling slightly though when Anastasia walked in she suddenly felt nervous again and bowed her head slightly.

Devon was starting to get sick of just sitting in the room all day and when noticed that Chloe was gone he jumped slightly. He looked nervous as he started looking all over the room and under the bed.

He walked out into the hallway quickly and started investigating every area he knew. he smiled slightly when he found her in the room with the television, curled up on the sofa. He went over to her and noticed she had taken a dvd he'd never seen down from the shelf. He took it from the pup and put it into the dvd player, just curious as to what it was about.

Anastasia smiled at the girl. "Hi I'm Anastasia." she said softly as she held out her hand. She timidly pushed a strand of hair out of her face with her other hand and observed teh room.

He smiled at Adrienne and pulled down the box she wanted. "Well then it's a good thing I'm here, isn't it?" He then handed it over to her because he was unsure of how much cereal she wanted in her bowl. "Are you busy today, Adrienne? I thought maybe you could give me a tour of the city."



She coughed a bit suddenly and covered her mouth with what would have been her handshaking arm. "Sorry, I caught a bit of a cold last night while I was asleep," she said, weakly. Looking at the stuff Kai cooked for her, she realized it was probably more than what her petite figure could handle. And by that, I mean short. "Aww I can't eat all this by myself, you sure you guys don't wanna split it?" She looked to her brother and Adrienne, who seemed to be engrossed over cereal. Well sure it was a really really good breakfast commodity that she liked but Kai cooked more than enough food. "Or hm, Adrienne, d'ya think Dev would want some?" That boy was still nowhere to be found, and Diana didn't know if he was okay from last night. "I could go look around for him if you want me to," she offered.

Devon had become almost thoroughly engrossed by the film but he hadn't taken the time to note that it was a bout giant spiders. Spiders was the on thing he feared and when a rather large, or more gigantic, spider jumped on the screen he jumped also before running out of the room. Chloe followed him as usual and he seemed almost out of breath when he reached the front entrance.

"He's in the front entrance," Adrienne said nonchalantly despite the fact she really could care less where her brother was at the present moment. She returned her attention to Kai far swifter than one could possibly imagine. "I am quite free today, actually," she said before taking a bite. she chewed for a moment before swallowing. "I could show you around town and we could possibly go out for lunch."

"What's to eat?" Anastasia asked as she stepped out of the doorframe and itno the kitchen surveying it.

She looked to Adrienne in questioning. "How d'ya know?" She didn't hear anyone at the front entrance, nor would she know anyone was at the front entrance. Maybe it was that "sibling connection" kinda thing, Diana figured.

Looking to Anastasia, she shrugged. "Well...make anything you want. Pancake mix is somewhere in the upper cupboard up there," she pointed, to a cabinet near the refrigerator. "It's completely up to you, so go raid the refrigerator." She didn't really like meeting new people...Diana wasn't a socialite, and didn't really know how to carry herself in front of others. It was also a weird feeling...this girl seemed to be from the same social class as she and Kai were, but that usually meant a lot of snubbery between cliques.

Adrienne already seemed like a great friend to be with -- offering her a job, and going shopping together already. "Oh yeah, I got started on that book cover!" she exclaimed to the older girl next to her brother. "I dunno what colors you want me to put on it though, you gotta help me out with that later too," she grinned.

Diana finally turned to her brother. "Hey, don't eat my food, okay? I'll be back," she said, skipping out of the kitchen, her high-heeled shoes clicking against the floor, humming happily to look for Devon. It wasn't until she really realized somebody was in the front entrance at the last minute, she actually crashed into him.

"Ohmigosh, I'm so sorry, are you all right?!"



Kai laughed as he pinched his sister's cheek before she left. "You know I'm gonna eat it." He opened his jaw as if to eat his sister's head, and snapped it, but jokingly. Pouring the milk over his Rice Krispies, he wasn't at all irritated by the trademark "Snap, Crackle, Pop"...He was just hungry! Handing the carton over to Adrienne, he started to eat his cereal at the counter, and also forking some of his sister's food that he cooked, into his mouth. He couldn't help it, he just liked being playful.

"Yeah, generally you make whatever you want, I guess," he finally said to Anastasia, after he took his first bite. "I dunno what goes on around here, I'm just visiting," he reiterated. Still, it didn't seem like a bad idea...if only there could be more guys here rather than just himself and Devon...now that was embarrassing...two guys and how many girls? He hadn't kept count, and didn't really want to know. He was hoping his sister and himself weren't recognized by anyone for their family's business venture. He still had a mind to keep private about that from too many people finding out, or else they'd use him...or worse, his sister, who was easily swayed by people because she couldn't defend herself in debates. As he ate, he still worried about how Diana had been doing here. It seemed fine, but he was deep in thought.

He was really excited to get a tour of the city by Adrienne though. Kai decided they'd use his car, and inform her later when they were done eating.

Anastasia nodded and began making pancakes. "Anyone want them?" she asked everyone when she was done making them.

Devon was a bit surprised when he ran into someone. He was a bit shocked when he discovered that it was actually Diana. He blushed slightly from embarrassment and backed up a few feet.

"I'm fine really," he said. "Are you all right?"

He was sincere in his question as he studied her face. She was beautiful, no doubt about it, but there was something about her that had caught his interest and had fueled him to jump to conclusions about his opinion of her. It was hard though, and that something about her kept popping up in the back of his head. He paused after a moment.

"Do I smell pancakes?" he asked aloud.

Adrienne shook her head when she was offered some pancakes. She hated it when people came in like that and just started cooking. She wasn't hostile though, but rather polite.

"So Kai," she said. "What time do you want to see the town. It'd be nice to get out of her since I've had the week off of work to actually move in."

She was sure distracting him from her would be the key. In reality this was her only downfall. When someone she considered more beautiful than herself walked into a room and even glanced at the person she liked or seemed to like, she got nervous and had a habit of focusing on the person she liked more.

Anastasia turned at the sound of Devon's voice. "I made pancakes if you want them." she called out to him.

Realizing that she bumped into Devon, she blushed a teensy bit for a moment and immediately beamed. "Devon! Oh, gosh, really, I'm so sorry...I was wondering where you were and Adrienne said you were probably out here, but I wasn't watching where I was going and," she took a deep breath as she was rambling on. "Yeah, I'm all right!" Her mood was really perky, she had her brother here, and she still had Adrienne and Devon. Despite being slightly older than Dev, she still acted like a silly, possibly-lovestruck-and-she-doesn't-know-it, teenager because, let's face it, she's still eighteen years old and trying to find her way into the real world.

"Anyway...yeah my brother is cooking some pancakes and there's a new girl here too I just met. Her name's Anastasia...I think. Ehehe...well, come on, let's go eat breakfast." She started off ahead of him back into the kitchen. "Okay, yeah, now I'm starving. I'm gonna eat and then go work on some other stuff. Kai, you and Adri are going out, right?"



"Well I thought we could go maybe an hour after breakfast? I still have to shower, considering I woke up and just went to go make breakfast." He chuckled slightly, not knowing whether that was going to be well-received or not.

Kai shook his head at the pancakes. "Not right now," he refused, "but thanks for the offer." He looked down at the waffles he'd made for his sister, forked one onto his plate and started eating it. That was when Diana came in.

She asked if he and Adrienne were going out...
She meant they were going out later.

His sister just totally did not know how she just worded that part SO wrong. First off, he had no girlfriend, and Adrienne probably wasn't interested in him.

Nah, I'm probably just overanalyzing it a bit too much, he thought to himself.

"Yeah we're going into the city later. Do you need me to pick something up for you?" he asked. Still eating the waffles, he had to alternate between the cereal and the other food he cooked up.



"Uhm...hm. No, not really," Diana concluded. "If I do need anything, I'll just call you up," she figured. "Hey, you stole my food," she then exclaimed, and playfully hit her brother's arm. She stood next to her brother and started eating her food.

Devon had heard Anastasia speak. He was a bit shocked but when it was explained that there was a new person he felt a bit more at ease. Then knowing that Diana was alright made him feel even more better since he would feel absolutely horrid if she had been hurt in their collision.

Adrienne had also been a bit surprised when Diana had actually said going out. She was interested in Kai to some extent but her fear of the new comer made her worry that he'd be interested in Anastasia and completely ignore her, so far that was not the case and it put her at ease for the most part.

"We are going out as in leaving the house later," she said with a faint blush touching her cheeks.

Devon had come in at this point to get the pancakes that smelled a bit too tempting for him. He nodded slightly to Anastasia before noticing how his sister had reacted to just a few words. He successfully repressed a laugh before sitting down at the table.

"Do you think you could pick up some books for me? I need to read both The Grapes of Wrath and The Heart of Darkness. I can't find a copy around here," he said in his sister's direction.

Adrienne again was caught by surprise by her brother's question. She was shoving food in her mouth, though doing in such away that it appeared to be polite, so that she wouldn't say anything else that was completely idiotic.

After she had spoken she had come to the realization that Kai could have easily interpreted what she had said as a lack of interested in him and she was bowing her head slightly now so that she could hide the regretful look on her face. Her friends had always said she was pretty much an open book when it came to emotions and most of the time they were correct.

"I'll be sure to get them," she said looking up at Devon.

Anastasia smiled and seet out two plates and slid some pancakes on each. Then she handed one of the plates to Devon and gave him the maple syrup after she used it.

"I didn't mean it like that!" Diana giggled. "Anyway Kai hasn't had a girlfriend in years, have you, brother?"



He shook his head and smiled. "Nah, not really. I've actually been swamped with work lately. Mom and Dad told me to take a couple months' vacation and check up on you, and that's what I'm doing here." He quickly finished his cereal and waffle, then chugged down a glass of orange juice. "All right, I seriously gotta go take a shower. Ladies...and Devon, enjoy your breakfast! Sis, can you take care of the dishes for me?" he asked.



"No, not really. Go on ahead. I showered earlier, so no worries," she said. Shooing her brother out the door, she stacked his plates next to hers. Diana still had quite a bit of food to eat. She was pretty hungry and didn't care if she ate too much because she'd work it all off later anyway. If not, hey, it was just one day of spoiling herself. Turning to Devon and Anastasia, she asked them, "So do either of you have plans for the day?" It was cute that Kai was hanging out with Adrienne for the day, but Diana didn't have anything else to do and she didn't want to be bored.



"All right, thanks!" Kai replied, hugging his sister's arm. "I'll be seeing you later, Adrienne!" he waved off, and exited the door. 'Man that was really uncomfortable. I shoulda showered but Sis and I were gonna be hungry. Now Adrienne probably thinks I've got some kind of hygienic disorder or something like that.' He scoffed at himself and shook his head, pushing himself up the stairs. Back in his sister's room he took his time getting ready for the later part of the day. "If only we didn't wake up so late. Doesn't Diana have an alarm clock around or something like that?" He looked around and found nothing. 'Maybe she's using her cell phone for one? Nah, she wouldn't know how to set it up." Kai shrugged it off and hopped into the shower in the bathroom.

"Just studying," Devon said as he settled down with the pancakes he'd gotten. He put some maple syrup on them before taking a fork to it. He was hungry and hadn't really been expecting anything for breakfast so this was a pleasant surprise.

"Do you have anything in mind?" he asked. "I mean there's not much to do around the house that I know of and I'm not sure what the weather report is like."

Adrienne had smiled slightly and waved to Kai when he had left. As soon as she knew he was upstairs she also left. She felt disgusting in the clothes she was wearing and wanted to take a shower. If he was allowed to take one then she most definitely would.

"I'm going to go take a shower and change," she said before leaving. She raced up the stairs after that and began digging through her closet for something she could wear. She wanted to look attractive but at the same time look decent.

She had barely touched her cereal but didn't even think twice about it. She wanted to focus on her appearance at the present moment and if she got hungry later they could always pick something up in town.
