"What did he say. And Danny? The strange one with the gold tooth? Or is that your second cousin Rory?" He asked and frowned as his hands slowly and so very gently slid over her skin, just trying to comfort her. "Don't worry about it anyway, he's a dweeb. On the bright side... there is no bright side. Today sucks." Nathaniel said and closed his eyes.
"Dad? DAD!? Mom is shaking again." the fuzzy image of a boy appeared and then things moved fast. "ANDY!" Nat's voice. "Is it time?" "Nat. Keys. Now. Finally. Oooooh shoes. DON'T FORGET THE SHOES AGAIN!" Nathaniel came out of the vision and smirked. "Now less Sucks... kinda." |
"No, gold-tooth is actually my uncle Mitch," Andy replied. "You remember Danny, he's one of the twin cousins, he's the seer of the pair. He gave me the 'mama's boy' onesie for Riley, remember?" She sighed. "He just texted me 'this is why I didn't say anything beforehand.'" She looked down. "He knew this would happen, I'm sure of it." She glanced at him, and recognized the look on his face. "What did you see?"
|
"Oh yeah! Your uncle is creepy... He doesn't have a blue dot does he?" Thinking about the child pedophile episode he saw of Raising Hope the other week. He then sighed and looked at her. "I saw it too, and I prepared us the best I could. Like we've stated, Riley is safe. So text Danny back tell him he's not the only seer in the world." He then kissed her forehead. "Riley sounds sweet when he is worried about you." He said and hoped she knew that was all he was going to tell. Nathaniel didn't want her to know her future. It was bad and good all at the same time.
|
"My uncle isn't creepy. The gold tooth is just a crown because he chipped his tooth a while back," Andy protested. "He's a redneck, it's just how he is. My dad would have been the same if my mom wasn't around with her common sense." She looked at him. "Riley shouldn't have to be worried about me, I can take care of myself. What was he worrying about?" She cuddled carefully into his side, taking comfort in the 'safe' conversation.
|
"That you were having a heart attack. You were perfectly safe, I promise you. I promise you and I love you so no more questions. And I still think he's creepy." He said and laughed lightly. "Hey you..." He said as he glanced up and spotted Jason. "How's Tomi?" After a strange shrug and silence as Jason got ready to leave. "I understand it sucks to be separated from your girlfriend, but you know she'll be back soon enough."
|
"Don't tease him," Andy said gently. "He misses her."
"Hey, I can speak for myself, thanks," Jason snarked. Andy didn't take it to heart. He always did that when he was upset, or worried. She noticed he didn't deny it, however. "Mom and Riley are out in the lounge on this floor," he added. "Better cell phone reception out there. I think she's on the phone with either Dad, or Nana." |
Nathaniel frowned. "I wasn't teasing..." He whispered and shrugged. "Doesn't matter, does it?" He asked and then sighed quietly. "Tell Riley we love him?" He said and then closed his eyes, resting against his girlfriend.
[[All I got... sorry.]] |
Jason considered for a moment, and then left the room. A moment later, he was back, with Riley propped on his hip. Carefully, he set his nephew down on his sister's lap.
"You tell him," he said. Andy immediately wrapped her arms around her son and pulled him closer, murmuring to him softly. "Everything's alright now, baby," she said. "You're going to stay with Grandma for a little while, until Mommy and Daddy are better. You behave for Grandma, okay?" |
Riley giggled and grabbed his moms hair. "Mom." He said and Nathaniel laughed, kissing his sons cheek. "Be a big boy?" The boy shook his head and touched his fathers face. He took the hand and laughed lightly. "Be good for grandma." Riley fell into a hug on his parents and Nathaniel held in a groan and wrapped one arm around him. "Okay... go with Jason and you'll see mommy and daddy tomorrow." Riley laughed. "Love. Bye." He said and Nathaniel smiled at the 'childspeak'.
|
"Love you too, baby," Andy said, hugging her son. She ignored the pain in her ribs. "Be good for Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Jae." She let him go as Jason picked him up again. "You have the spare key," she said to her brother. "If you need any of Riley's things, you know where they are."
"I know, I know," Jason replied, pretending to be annoyed at Andy's worrying. "He'll be fine for a few days." |
Nathaniel finally watched his new family leave the room and he sighed. "Ms. And--" "Andy." Nathaniel caught the nurse before she said anything wrong.
"Andy. Right. Are you ready for surgery? Nathaniel, you're going to have to get off her bed." Nathaniel nodded and sat up, the nurse helping him with his cast and getting back into his wheelchair. "Can I be there with her?" He asked and the nurse frowned. "I suppose it's up to Andy." |
"It's alright with me," Andy replied. "I didn't think it was allowed, but if it is, I have no problem with it." She was glad for the company. The support was welcome after her miscarriage. She watched as Nathaniel was helped back into the wheelchair, and wished she could have helped. She could have gotten him back into the chair faster and easier, without bumping his ankle or anything. Telekinesis was good for things like that.
|
"It's just a simple surgery on your hip, one incision, and he'll be wearing a mask." The nurse said and then smiled. "Even I could to this surgery, one handed. It shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, it only requires a surgeon because it's behind muscle tissue in your thigh." She then smiled. "We've got your official room ready for you as soon as we're done here, so, answer these questions and I'll tell the surgeon we're ready." She handed Andy a form and Nathaniel a mask. He slipped it over his head and left it off, hanging around his neck.
|
Andy nodded and filled out the form. It was fairly simple form, and she handed it back when she was done.
"Ready when you are," she said. ((sorry it's so short)) |
"Ugh, surgeries." He said and grinned. "The next time we get in a car wreck, don't chip a hip." He said and then stopped. "I so didn't just rhyme." He whispered and slid his hand in hers calmly as the surgeon came in. "Gloves for wheelchair boy."He said and then drew the curtains. "This shouldn't take too long, and breathe slowly." He said.
30 Minutes Later Nathaniel pulled off his gloves and watched as more natural light swamped the room. "Well that's better, right??" |
Andy came out of the anesthesia slowly. She hated being under like that, because it messed with her control, so as soon as she was awake enough, she clamped down on her power to make sure none of it slipped past her. Once she was sure she wasn't going to be sick from the anesthesia wearing off, she slowly opened her eyes.
"Hey," she said softly to Nathaniel. "I'm guessing it's over?" |
"I'm guessing yeah." He said and kissed her slowly. "You did fine." He said and smiled as he saw the portrait stay still after beginning to tremor. "Very nice." He then lifted her hand and examined it slowly. "We look like hell. In couple form." He said and yawne.d "You got a nap. Not fair." He said and then winked. "Don't be mad if I fall asleep." He said as he rested his head against the beds mattress.
|
"Wasn't much of a nap," Andy replied, using a little of her power to move over so he had space on the bed. She was still a little woozy, but she was able to move that little bit. "You may as well come and join me," she said. "At least then we'll both be comfortable." She yawned a bit. "Any idea when we'll be able to leave?" Not that she didn't appeciate the time to just rest and recover, but she wanted to be home taking care of their son.
|
"Andy, I'm not sure I want you to leave just yet, you're pretty banged up. If it will make you feel better, tomorrow I'll take Riley home with me so he's at least with a parent, and we'll try to get you hospital leave the day after that, but they wanted a 72 hour watching period, so I don't think we're going to get you out before that." Nathaniel said as he maneuvered the chair to help him get up into the bed then lifted his cast over the bed. "Fun..."
|
"Alright," Andy murmured. She didn't have to like it, but she would deal with it. Carefully, she used her power to help him out of the chair and onto the bed. "I just hate being away from Riley for so long..." She cuddled a bit closer once Nathaniel was comfortable. "Promise me we won't be in any more car accidents? Or anything that requires more than one day in the hospital?" She didn't count having more children in that category, though, that was something that she'd already learned got her at least three days in the hospital.
|
"Uhmmm I can't promise anything. But I'll try to make sure the only reason you're here are for your children, check ups and what not. Children do tend to hurt themselves..." He said and held her to him, his hands around her gently. "I can't wait to be back in our bed with you, so much more roomy than this thing."
|
"Though until my hip heals, we're not going to be doing much more than sleeping in our bed," Andy teased a little, snuggling into his arms. She did her best to be careful of his bruises. It was probably for the best that her hip was fractured, though. It was a little too soon to be trying for another baby after what happened.
|
"I would never expect you to do anything inappropriate with that hip." he said and smirked. "Not that you cant use that creepy touch while I use real touch on you." He said and smirked. "But on a very much later date. For now, I just want to hold you, and make sure we are alive and getting more healthy."
|
Andy cuddled with him, comfortable.
"They're probably going to try to make you move to your own bed," she said after a moment. "Us being in the same bed is probably against the rules or something." She laid her head on his shoulder. "I already miss Riley... I hope he'll be okay for a few days with my parents." |
"He'll be fine, and like I said, I'll go with him tomorrow night. And I know, they most likely will move me, but I'm not volunteering just yet. Just relax, okay?" He said and pressed his lips against her head, not quite wanting to talk. He just wanted to be with Andy as the emotions hit that he had lost a child with her, he'd lost an opportunity for them to become a much more united family, and it was always going to feel like there was something missing. He knew it, and it hurt.
