Andy could hear the talking out in the other room and tried to go back to sleep. Reaching over to her nightstand, she tried to take a sip from her water bottle, only to find it empty. Great. Getting up, she went into the shared bathroom and filled up the bottle from the sink. It wasn't filtered water, but it would have to do until she could get a fresh bottle. She didn't want to go and grab a new bottle, because she just didn't feel up to dealing with people. Not with her head still aching. Heading back into her room, she slipped back into her bed and fell asleep again, hoping her headache would be gone by morning.

[That gave me little to nothing to work with... Don't you LOVE his obnoxious family? You're going to love Nicky even more.]
Nathaniel woke up the next morning, crick in his neck. He rolled up his cover to see his brother laying on his back calmly, eying the ceiling. "Dude, finally you're awake. You're going to make breakfast... right?" Nathaniel groaned as his little brother made questioning demands. He nodded, and walked to the kitchen, getting out breakfast food. He made eggs, bacon, and sausage. He toasted a piece of toast and set it on a plate with some of each food and grabbed a fork and a glass of orange juice. "Help yourself, leave me and the 'rents some though, alright?" Nathaniel said and Nicky nodded. Nathaniel gave a light knock on Andy's door and slipped inside. He moved to her bed and sat down beside her, setting the food down on her nightstand. "Good morning." He said and then pulled out two tylenol. "Just in case." He said to her quietly. "I cooked you food, and I would advise getting ready and leaving with spending the least amount of time around my family as possible. I forgot how terrible they were." He said and smiled at her calmly. |
Andy woke up when her bedroom door opened, and she opened one eye experimentally. When the light didn't feel like it would burn her eyes out, she opened them both and sat up. Her headache was gone, which she was grateful for.
"You look terrible," she said when Nathaniel came in. "Did you sleep at all? And my headache is gone, but thanks anyways. How are your knees feeling?" |
"My knees hurt, but not as bad as the headache." He said and bit his lip, sitting at the very edge of her bed. "I didn't get much sleep, no. With the family being here... I'm telling you, before you even meet them I'm sorry. I just... I have problems telling them no." He said and then reached out, then dropped his hand. It was abusing his rights as a roommate to touch her just to get rid of a head ache. But he was too embarrassed to ask. He sighed and looked at her food. "You should eat, I bet by the time Nicky is done there won't be any left." Nathaniel spoke softly then grinned. "Keep the Tylenol close. You don't understand the headache they can give you."
|
"At least you warned me, that's something," Andy replied. "I can get breakfast while I'm out, if I have to." Getting up, she started to gather her things for her shower, including her clothes. She saw him start to raise his hand and then stop. "Is there something wrong?"
|
"Just a headache." He muttered and then sighed. "Don't worry about it." He then stood. "I still say you should eat the breakfast. I'm going to get ready also. Do you mind if I get ready in the bathroom too? I won't sneak a look I swear. it's just.... The less time I have to spend here, the better." He said and then scratched his head. "Stupid idea, sorry I even asked. I'm just going to pack my bag and take a shower in the soccer locker rooms. Be safe, ignore Nicky." He said and headed towards the door.
|
"As long as you don't look, it should be okay," Andy said. "I mean, we DO only have one bathroom." Then she blinked as she remembered something from the night before.
"Wait, you said something about me being able to make the headaches fade, right?" she asked. "I wasn't just dreaming that?" |
"No, you weren't dreaming it." He said as he looked relieved to be able to get ready at the same time. He entered the bathroom and grabbed his toothbrush and wet it down before applying toothpaste. "I don't know why or how, but it's like...When I touch you and I'm NOT trying to get any visions from you everything just disappears in my mind. The headaches are gone... It's the best feeling in the world." He muttered and then grinned. "Almost." He said and laughed lightly as he applied toothpaste to the brush and stuck it in his mouth.
He looked down so the girl could undress and get in the shower. Through the warped glass, bubbled for texture you couldn't see anything except that SOMEbody was beyond the doors. You couldn't tell if they were wearing anything or not. So the effect was alright with the two, it wasn't like he could tell it was even a girl if he looked in the mirror at the distorted wall. |
Quickly, Andy got into the shower and shut the door so he couldn't see her.
"If you hate your family so much," she said once she started the shower, her voice echoing off of the tile, "do you want to stay in my room tonight? I can't offer much more than a spare pillow and some floor space, but it's quiet, at least." |
Nathaniel grinned as he spit out the toothpaste and went back to brushing. He nodded, realizing she probably couldn't see him. "That sounds great actually. I pulled out a spare cover, but a pillow would be nice." He said and then brushed his tongue, having a weird issue about nasty tongues. He shivered as he thought about it and spit out the toothpaste once more, washing his brush and rinsing.
He locked the door to his own bedroom and sighed. "It's not that I hate them, it's that they abuse their rights as my parents. There's no point to it. At All. They run out of money then they come running to me, and I'm not broke. My grandfather died and left me everything, hence the sweet car and the fact I can afford college without working. I refuse to pay their bills and everything because it was in my grandfather's will that I try and help them in the least amount possible. " He then leaned back on the counter. "He actually foretold me about you. He was like me... My parents both are seers, but not near as good as he was. And there's only come and go every once in a while. They get maybe a vision a week." Nathaniel rubbed his templed as he grabbed his razer and added shaving cream to shave. He didn't do facial hair, he knew it looked weird on him. Although he'd been complemented on his 5 o'clock shadow a few times before. He stretched, wanting to get his own clean clothes but his parent's resided in his room. He gave an internal groan and rolled his eyes. |
"What did he say?" Andy asked as she washed her hair. Now she was curious. She was glad that her shampoo didn't smell too overpoweringly floral or sickly-sweet. She'd long since settled on a delicate water lily shampoo, which she was glad for. Once her hair was washed, she conditioned it. It seemed she'd have to let it dry on its own today, since she wasn't going to hang around just to use her hair dryer.
|
"He told me someone exceptionally talented would enter my life and make all the pain go away. I didn't think it was you until last night. When the headaches were erased. It all makes sense now, my grandfather knew everything." He said and grined. "Whatever you're using smells amazing." He said as he ran the blade under water. He then heard a knock on the door.
"Aniel! You better not be in there with her." It was his mother. "Mom! Go eat! Leave us alone!" "Nathaniel! How dare you talk to your mother like that!" "Leave then, and you wouldn't have to hear me!" "No sex while we're in this suite Nathaniel! Especially not in the shower, you have more decency than that." "Woah! Aniel's having sex in the shower?! THis girl must have a rocking bod! He always gets the hot ones. Remember Natalia?!" Nicky spoke up and Nathaniel groaned. "See what I mean?" He asked quietly and then groaned. "I'll take my shower tonight. I've got to get out of here. I'll see you at lunch? Just dart out of the apartment, ignore them." He said and grinned. "And if they mention your future, ignore it. Just... ignore it." |
"Meet me at the cafeteria," Andy agreed as she turned the shower off. "Go on, I can take care of myself." Once he was out of the bathroom, she dried off and dressed, quickly brushing her teeth before going back into her room to get her things. She would drop by the coffee shop on campus and get some breakfast there, that wasn't a problem. Brushing out her wet hair, she twisted it up with a clip to keep it decent and out of the way. Slipping her shoes on, she grabbed her bag and quickly left her room.
|
Nathaniel made it through classes and at lunch his head was killing him once more, no surprise there. He had a celery stick sticking from his mouth which he nibbled on as he sat as far away from everyone as possible, not trying to see their futures. He wanted to scream at everyone to shut up, but the cafeteria wasn't actually that loud. He had slid two more pills down his throat and taken water with them but it didn't do much help, he was almost to the point of finding one of the boys in the resident dorms hiding pot. Anything to make it stop.
|
By lunch, Andy's nerves were frayed. She didn't like the thought of people staying in her suite, and she'd made sure to lock the door to her bedroom before she left. She made her way into the cafeteria and looked around for Nathaniel. It wasn't hard to find him; he'd parked himself in the most secluded corner he could.
"Hey," she said as she put her stuff down by the table. "Give me five minutes, and then I'll see what I can do about your headache." |
Nathaniel nodded to her, nibbling on the celery which he didn't even like in the least. He wanted to know if he could just touch her hand, or if it had to be her face or neck. What if it was just maybe her residual dew, such as her clothes or her pillow. He always felt calmer in their suite, maybe it was because she left herself wherever she was. Her power seeped around the place and maybe that's what calmed him. He waited patiently, head killing him, but he waited without any words.
|
Quickly, Andy put together a lunch for herself. She didn't care that it had a lot of calories in it, since she used so much energy the day before and didn't replace it. Once she had something on her plate, she went and sat back down next to him.
"You look terrible," she said. "Bad morning?" This was referring to his visions, rather than his classes. Hesitantly, she reached out and took his hand. |
Nathaniel eyed her calorie filled plate and grinned. "So not a normal girl, are you?" He said and grinned, then heard the question. "It's been a living hell." He said and then it all disappeared. As soon as her fingers touched his, their hands sliding together. He looked around and then back at her. "Aren't you afraid people will think we're together?" He asked and rested his head back down, glorified in the warmth of knowledge that the girl was his social life saviour. As long as she was nearby he could get a break from the headaches. He smiled and his face relaxed, tilting his head so he could see her clearly, he watched her face. How could she act like nothing happened yesterday? They had a fight with a raging supernaturaly psychopath! But she just continued life. Meanwhile he was probably leeching off her energy so he could stay sane.
|
"Hey, I used a lot of energy yesterday, and it's all got to come from somewhere," Andy pointed out. "This is replacing what I lost. Besides, if people ask, just say you're having issues with your family or something. I'm your roommate, nobody will question my 'helping' you." Taking a bite of her lunch, she realized just how hungry she was. The coffee that morning hadn't even made a dent.
|
"You are a wonderful person." He said and then grinned, closing his eyes. "I think I could sleep soundly with you around, you know that. And i have theories of why this works. You're kind of like a magnet and my mind is a radio." You get close and my waves get all messed up. There's also an energy sucking theory, which may make you use up all your power, but I don't quite like that theory.:" He muttered and continued to nibble on his food, tired, his head feeling clear and much better. He grinned as he tried to decide with his thoughtless mind (other than his own) and sighed. "Tonight... Tonight is going to suck. It was a Friday night. Of course it was going to suck, they were stuck with his parents. How about we set my laptop up for a netflix movie and crash in your room. When my parents leave by Sunday, I'll spend the day cleaning while you rest and relax and Monday we'll start back over again."
|
"Your second theory makes no sense," Andy pointed out. "Our talents have nothing to do with each other. They're not compatible at all, so why would one cancel out the other?" She thought about his suggestion and nodded.
"A movie in my room sounds great," she said. |
"Wonderful. Chinese delivery? Pizza? Anything we can just pay for and sneak to the room?" He asked and grinned. He tucked his legs beneath his chair shook his head. "I think it makes sense. If you ever feel weak after touching me for too long, it would make sense that your energy calms my power. However, it of course doesn't have to be either of my theories, it could be something totally different. For all I know it could be the soap you use." He said sarcastically.
|
"Actually, around here, pizza doesn't deliver directly to the room," Andy said. "They just come to the building. The residents are expected to go downstairs and get it, which makes it easier to sneak it into my room." She grinned. "Just take it outside under my window, I'll bring it up, and then you meet me upstairs. And don't knock the soap, at least it's not like overpowering and flowery or something."
|
"I love your soap, don't worry. So yeah... Sneaking pizza in sounds great. I've got my Friday only class next, enjoy this... lovely lunch period. Thanks for clearing my mind and I'll see you tonight. Text me what kind of pizza you want." He said and kissed her hand. "Thank you." He whispered, letting go as the world came back to him. less ferocious, muffled futures. Oh wow. This was the ultimate drug. Everything was muddied down in his mind, and it seemed distant, far away. It wasn't loud, screaming in his ears. He pulled out his charcoal pencil set as he ran to his classroom, sliding into his art workbench as the class got started.
"Close call Mr. Lee. Close call." He nodded and listened to the class instructor. He wanted to see what the students could originally bring out by just a paragraph of description. Criminal psychology major with a double minor in sketch art and classic literature/religion. Dark hair, two inches long, broad shoulders and freckles, a large, lower lip. Golden brown eyes. He knew he wouldn't get this information from somebody trying to give information about a robber. They would have been too freaked out to remember the facts. But this was about their skills, not about the person. As he finished he wiped his charcoal covered hands on his pants and blew on the portrait the white becoming whiter. "Good Mr. Lee, very nice. All points for today." He nodded and then grabbed his bag, the class over. |
Pepperoni is my favorite, Andy texted him as she sat down in her last class of the day. She didn't pay much attention to the lesson, more focused on how she was going to get back into her bedroom with minimal interaction with Nathaniel's family. Once her class was over, she made her way back to the suite, still thinking about how to get into her room. Finally, she decided to just go through the suite without acknowledging them. That seemed to be the easiest way to do it.
