Julian blushed slightly and rubbed the back of his head slightly. "Ah...guess it only does it to hunters?"

"Plenty of other witches have come into contact with hunters," Ana pointed out. "I've never heard of such a reaction before, and something like that would be made common knowledge very quickly."

Julian looked confused. "Then....I don't know what to tell you."

"I think I need to ask around," Ana said. "I want to know what that was. I mean, if we both felt it... And I've never had anything like that happen before when I touched another person." Thinking for a moment, she got up and went to her book shelf. It held a number of leather-bound, unnamed volumes, and though they had no titles or labels she picked one off the shelf as if she knew exactly which one it was. It was a thick book, seemingly well over a thousand pages.

"Maybe this has something about it..." she said as she sat back down with the book in her lap. She glanced at him. "Don't tell anyone you've seen this, alright? People aren't supposed to know that my kind has a book like this."

Julian looked fascinated book she pulled out, then nodded eagerly. "Of course not. I told you, I'm your friend. Okay?" He smiled happily, glad she trusted him so much as to show him this.

"Alright," Ana said. Opening the book to the table of contents, she scanned it for the heading she needed. "This book contains every spell, counterspell, curse, countercurse, hex, charm, potion, ritual, and incantation in the known world. If it's been developed and written into a witch's personal spellbook, then it's in here," she explained as she found the heading she wanted and turned to the page. She turned more pages than the book seemed to have, proving that it was a magical book. There were even a few of her own charms and potions in the book, if she cared to search for them. "And I mean everything. There are even restricted and forbidden entries in the book, that by law we're not allowed to attempt."

Julian blinked slightly, then tilted his head to the side, thinking. "Soo...it'd be really easy for a witch to break laws."

"It would be," Ana agreed. "But there are consequences for such things." She wasn't worried about him reading anything over her shoulder, since she wasn't on a page that held anything particularly powerful or harmful. She skimmed the passage on reactions to magic. One particular phrase caught her eye.

...rashes are the most common reactions of a human to a brush with raw magic. However, it is said that there is an exchange of power when a witch finds her soul's partner...

She blinked and backed up, reading it again. There wasn't anything else about it in the passage, and she didn't have time to scour the chapter for any more information.

"Interesting..." she murmured.

Julian did not read over her shoulder, out of pure respect. He thought it rude to do such a thing. So, he sat there anxiously. When she looked that way at the page he looked extra excited. "What? What is it?"

"Hm?" Ana blinked and looked up. "I need to do some more research. Whoever wrote these notes didn't dig deep enough, there's not much I can do with just this." She carefully skirted around what the book actually said. No sense in weirding him out...

Julian seemed to not be satisfied with that answer. "Come on....please tell me?"

Ana hesitated for a moment, then pointed to the passage in the book.

Julian looked over at the book where she pointed. He had to read it twice as well. He leaned back, an eyebrow raised and slightly confused. "That's....odd."

"I agree," Ana replied. "That's the only thing I can find, though, short of sitting down and reading the entire chapter. And the entire chapter is nearly a hundred pages thick." She re-read what the page said was a sign of the power transfer. "But it does sound like what I felt earlier... and you said you felt a kind of jolt, right?"

Julian listened as he thought, then nodded slightly to her question. "Yes...that's what I felt."

"I'll dig a little deeper on it," Ana promised. "I'll put out the word, maybe send Morpheus out to the other realm to see what information he can find..."

Julian looked slightly cautious. "Are you going to use my name?"

"Do you want me to?" Ana asked in return. "I don't have to, as far as I know."

Julian sighed softly. "I'd rather you didn't. Even though...its not against the law to defend an innocent witch, its....not something they tend to tolerate." He shook his head slightly. "I wouldn't want to be labeled as a traitor or anything."

"Alright," Ana said. "I'll do my best not to mention you by name." She still wasn't even sure if they really were soulmates or not, though she had to admit she was attracted to him somehow...

Julian looked a little relieved. "Thank you." He was still thinking about what the book had said.

Closing the master spellbook, Ana put it back on the shelf. No sense in being tempted to look through more of it... She was all set with the spells she had already. She made a mental note to check her stores of potions and charms. She knew she needed to make more sleep charms, and maybe some more mild headache-curing potions... She might need to brew another migrane-cure as well... She blinked when she realized she'd been spacing out.

"Sorry," she said. "Just thinking about my to-do list."

Julian had watched her the whole time, a curious expression on his face, then it turned into a small soft look. He chuckled softly when she apologized. "That's quite alright."

"I was just thinking that I needed to brew some more headache and migrane cures," Ana said. "Maybe make some more sleeping charms. I've been working on a way to work in a time-delayed release on the charms, so they aren't immediate."

Julian nodded slightly, then leaned back a little. "Hey...I wonder if its allowed to buy potions for myself..."
