"Oh, don't ask how I am, or anything!" Hayley muttered, arms crossed, as she joined her newfound group.
Hayley waved at Akemi, with a quick "Hayley," and a finger pointed at herself. Hayley turned quickly at the sound of footsteps and the smell of smoke. She wanted nothing more than to bum a cigarette, god, she hadn't had one in months. But, seeing Michaela's distaste, and Lorenzo's agitated expression, Hayley decided against it and turned back around with an eyeroll. |
(Bleh, I can't be bothered translating myself anymore. Just say she suddenly remembers what she was taught for 6 years at school and can suddenly speak perfect English xD; )
Akemi nodded saddly. "Yeah, I'm alone... Nice to meet you, Hayley," she added with a smile. Akemi wrinkled her nose at the smell of smoke. The stuff smelled disgusting. |
((Poor stinky Lorenzo, no one likes you!))
Lorenzo frowned as he approached them, noticing their negative reactions. The whole group looked like they were fresh out of high school. "What the hell are you kids doing out here, having a camp out?" He then noticed the abundance of corpses littered around the area. "Holy shit, did you guys kill all of these things?" he asked, incredulous. |
(roflcopters @ Mr.Ham))
((That's okay, opal)) "So it appears," Hayley replied in an annoyed tone, as if this were the most obvious thing on the planet. "Hey, Chuck," Hayley said to the first person who came to mind. Anything to try and ignore the temptation of tobacco. "Uh..." Shit, I haven't thought of anything to say after that! "Uhmmm, what's your favorite... color?" |
:: Lol xD ::
"Oh. Right. How are you?" he said with a grin. Michaela rolled her eyes and said in the same tone of annoyance like Hayley's, "For your information, whoever you are, we are not kids. And we're not having a camp out. We're trying to survive. Just like you" She scowled at him and turned her back on him. She hated it when she was told she was a kid ... Sure, she looked young but that's practically an insult. She's twenty-three, for crying out loud! Chuck stared at her then back to Lorenzo (though he didn't know his name). "Yeah, we did ... What's your name?" he asked. He then heard Hayley ask him his favorite color. Eh, what? he thought. Is this the time to know my favorite color? "Uh ... olive, I guess," he said slowly, wondering why she asked him this. "Eh. Yours?" |
Hayley shrugged. "Don't really have one," she answered. "Gray, I guess." Hayley said, saying the color of Chuck's shirt. When she realized what she'd done her entire face and ears turned bright pink. Suddenly, Hayley realized how ridiculous this all was. The sky was still cloudy, and more
|
Lorenzo put up his hands defensively, scowling. "Sorry ladies, don't get your panties in a knot. It's an honest mistake, you all look like you're twelve or something."
He fished around in his pocket, pulling out a cigarette and bringing it to his lips. "Name's Lorenzo, not that it really matters. I'm on my way back home." Flicking his lighter closed, he exhaled a puff of smoke, noting with some amusement the disgusted faces of the females in the group. "You guys got someplace you're staying? Better hurry up before it gets dark. Not really the time to chitchat about favorite colors..." |
:: done (: :: "Gray?" he asked, looking at his shirt. He raised his eyebrows then smiled a bit. "Sure, but you'll have to help me up," Michaela said, grimacing. She was never good at climbing. But this is for her safety ... so why not give it a shot? "If I fall, I'll blame you," she grinned. She then stared at Lorenzo with disbelief. He was starting to get on her nerves .... "Just shut your fucking mouth. And if you want to leave, go." "Very rare to see you swear at someone you just met," Chuck muttered to her. She stared at him then wrinkled her nose at the smell of smoke. Now she really wanted to leave. Right. Now. She then walked right past Lorenzo, then looked at the others. "Well? Are you guys going to find a roof or not?" she asked impatiently. |
Hayley's blush turned to a bright red and she glowered at Chuck. "Oh, shut up." she muttered under her breath.
"Sure, just one second, Michaela..." Hayley replied, holding up her index finger. "Can I have a drag?" Hayley asked, approaching Lorenzo. She didn't think it would be appropriate to ask for a whole cigarette, under the circumstances. "Oh, sorry! Coming!" Hayley winced. So close! she thought, then followed Michaela and Chuck. "Seeya, Lorenzo. If you're still alive, that is." |
Lorenzo grinned with some satisfaction at Michaela's anger. "Fine, I'll be off then. Enjoy sleeping on a cold hard roof." He slyly pushed a smoke into Hayley's tote bag before he turned away from them.
Pushing past the rest of the group, he started off back towards the main road. |
"You smoke too?" Michaela said in disbelief. She gaped at her then shook her head. Fine, if you want to spend the rest of your life suffering lung cancer, she thought viciously. Chuck just shook his head with a smile. It was rather funny how Michaela detested cigarettes. One of the reasons he didn't tell her he smoked once. But he quit cold turkey a few years ago.
The thought of turkey made him hungry. He licked his lips hungrily. "Well, see you!" she yelled at Lorenzo. Chuck wanted to tell her that he was acting rather childish but decided, for his safety, not to. "So where do you think should we go? Like Lorenzo said, it might be better not to go at the roof ... Maybe a grocery store ... or something. We'll lock the doors and stuffs." He shrugged, thinking it would be a lot better if they stayed in a grocery store. Then there'll be food. |
((aww, Hammy, you're the best. xP Hayley will have to be vewwy vewwy stealthy. xD))
"I... uh... I quit a few months back. I dunno what I was thinking," Hayley said with a shrug. Hayley mouthed a "Thank you!" in Lorenzo's direction When in the world will I be able to smoke this? Hayley thought, summing up pros and cons. She could always jump to another rooftop and then back, but there was always the possibility of falling. "No, that's the first place they'd go. That, and malls. Do you think these undead never watched a zombie movie when they were humans?" Hayley pointed out, patronizingly. "The higher up, the better." Hayley continued. "As long as there's nothing to climb. So, if you can think of anything that fits that description besides a rooftop, please, do tell." she said. |
"I think they forget that when they transform. They have no brains, remember?" he asked her, smiling again because he saw her mouth thank you to Lorenzo. "And besides, I'm hungry." He grimaced. Maybe I could eat Blanket, he thought jokingly. He'd never eat that not-really-little dog.
Michaela didn't see her mouth thank you though so she believed what Hayley said at once. "I know how hard it is to quit. I remember my Grandpa trying so hard ... But he wasn't able to so." She sighed sadly, then spotted a nice big house. Three stories high. Good enough. For her, anyway. Maybe Hayley knows something else better... she thought. "What about that one?" she asked, pointing to it. |
((We should accidentally go to the same apartment building Lorenzo lives in. :3))
"That looks good, but maybe we should hit a grocery store first," Hayley said, winking at Chuck. "Oh, Michaela, I'm so sorry." It was weird. She had known these people for all of one hour, and she already felt more at home than she ever had before. "That looks pretty good. Off we go?" Hayley asked, motioning the group towards the grocery store. ((And now, I sleep. G'night.)) |
|
Akemi trudged along with the others, hardly acknowledging Lorenzo; she wasn't one to trust easily these days. She stayed near the entrance of the store, feeling a little nervous. She really didn't like dark place: that was where the undead hung out during the light hours. There could be a hundred of them in here and they wouldn't even know it until they were all over them...
Akemi jerked her head up from looking at a half-crushed can of fruit when she heard someone scream. Abandoning her fears, she followed the sound until she came across Chuck and Michaela. "What happened?" Akemi asked... but then she saw the body. She blinked to make sure it was really there. So, people were that desperate not to get turned? Thinking of the consequence of getting yourself turned, Akemi shuddered. |
Michaela just shivered. Chuck pointed to the body. "They're really desperate," he said quietly. He took a deep, relaxing breath and said, "Want some?" he asked Akemi, holding out the box of snacks he had. "You can still eat them ... And they're pretty delicious." He laughed.
|
Hayley pushed a cart around, collecting canned foods. These should never spoil, and were by far their best bet. Hayley would move on to the expirables that hadn't spoiled yet once she was done collecting cans. As she was putting three cans of clam chowder into the cart, she heard a scream. She pulled her rifle out of the cart, and her pistol out of its holster and ran over. "Michaela! Are you okay?" she called across the store, running up to the group. She saw it was just a man who'd hung himself. False alarm, she thought, putting the pistol back in its holster. "He made a smart decision. Better to kill yourself than to become one of them and make the threat worse. I wonder if we'll ever escape this horror..." Hayley speculated, walking back to her cart. She planned to bring the cart up to the apartment and use it for subsequent grocery runs. After Hayley had filled the cart as full as she could while still being able to push it, she walked over to cosmetics and put three tubes of red lipgloss, a few tubes of mascara, one container of dark purple nail polish and another of black eyeshadow in her pockets.
|
Akemi smiled and took the box of snacks from Chuck. "Thankyou," she said, and took a few of the snacks out and devoured them hungrily. Then she stuffed a few more snacks into the pockets of her jacket for later.
|
"Yeah...Yeah, yeah, I guess so," she whispered. Taking a deep breath, she walked back to the store and grabbed a plastic bag. She began filling it with items (a pen, notebook, some snacks, a few bottles of water and gum). For a split second, she thought about how long the line was. A second later, she laughed. She decided to go outside, and stepped on a few bodies along the way. She decided not to look or else she'll be crying all over again. Michaela usually isn't very emotional but this whole -- thing -- made her cry ten times as usual. It doesn't help that the only friend from before that she has right now is Chuck. |
((No one's posted for a bit so I'll just do a bit of solo character writing again. And it's up to you if you want to come to Lorenzo's apartment, or I can always set it on fire or something and make him come to you >:]))
Lorenzo half rolled, half fell through the window, collapsing on his kitchen floor. Sweat beaded on his forehead, a sharp contrast to the chill outside, and he was exhausted. Nothing sounded more appealing to him at the moment than simply passing out. Scrambling up a storm drain in order to reach the bottom platform of the fire escape was no easy task on its own; with decidedly unhealthy lungs and the pressure of approaching zombies, it became next to impossible. But somehow he'd managed to make it home in one piece. He could hear the undead creatures moaning in confusion down below. They'd probably make it inside, but a homemade bomb had made quick work of the staircase leading to his floor a few months prior. He just had to hope they there was never enough of them to pile up and bridge the gap with their bodies. With some effort, he tugged off his jacket, assorted packs of smokes scattering across the floor. Pulling the last pack out of his pants pocket, he noted the two missing cigarettes and thought of the survivors he'd met earlier. The asian one didn't seem to have any weapons, and the one with the bat ((looked blonde to me, sorry! :sweat:)) was a bitch, he thought, But after tonight, I actually wouldn't mind having the company of the other two. At least then I'd have their firearms on my side. He closed his eyes, laying his arm across his face; it wasn't long before exhaustion overpowered his thoughts and he fell into a deep sleep. |
((Woo! Other two!!!))
((I'll post soon! Sorry for the pointless not-post!)) |
:: There wasn't a blond one xD Michaela's brunette>w< I'll go post ::
|
((I changed it, my apologies! :O))
|
:: Haha, it's okay >w< I'm just waiting for Briannamal to post :P ::
