"Several years ago, to this very day, a man with flames burning at the edges of his mind came to our little town. He had intentions that scared even the fiercest criminal, he was a mortal man not older than forty years, round face, blue eyes, handsome body, and yet his mind was the darkest place anyone could be. They called him 'Modern Jack'.

When he came to our little town women began disappearing one by one, when one would disappear another would show up, horribly mutilated, blood often drained out of the body, entrails scattering the earth around their corpse, this was truly amazing to some of us who followed his killings. Unfortunately, his rein of terror ended short with his demise. When he was captured, he was believed to have locked his soul away in a necklace, which, no one can seem to find.

Women are disappearing one by one, in the same manner as they had fifteen years ago. No one knows who is doing this, or why they are but we've asked you all to help us track him down" a male in his late twenties with greying hair spoke, hands clasped behind his back, thick framed glasses slipping down his nose, he seems to be in good health, muscular build, few pimples tarnishing his features. When he looks at the few people crowding around him, he smiles, even his teeth are a pearl shade of white. He seems to be the average Joe all except for an ancient medallion hanging around his neck, that of Egyptian origin. With every movement he made his plain white button down shirt opened up just a few inches, revealing a small glimpse of this accessory before closing itself again.

"Are you willing to take this challenge? The total count to women murdered is thirty five in the past three years" his voice quavered with fright when talking about this, he found it odd that civilians were more concerned about the killer running loose than their own police. He took in a heavy breath before waiting for an answer.

Background: Mark's father died under mysterious circumstances when he was ten years old, soon after his mother committed suicide, she felt that her husband was much more important to her than her own son. So he was bumped from foster home to foster home attempting to find where he fit. Though by his 18th birthday he had already been emancipated by the state and no longer a ward of the state, he was self sufficient and planned to remain as such.

until recently he had no interest in his father let alone how he died.

Background: Kyle had always loved school, even now he was still attending college. His parents had more than enough money to keep him in college. They wired him money every semester from Europe. He majored in computer engineering, but took an English class off to the side. Whenever he had extra time between his studies, he would attend tai kwan do classes at the YMCA by his apartment. He liked to stay in good shape, so he would switch between going to the gym and attending the tai kwan do classes.

He was originally born in Europe, but he wanted to travel. So when he turned eighteen, his parent's gave him some money to go to the States and start a decent life. He went straight to NYC, he heard that there were some good computer engineering school's there. He is, as far as he still knows, a lonely child, so his parents never spent money on anyone but him.

He had never taken any interest in the killer that had showed up in the city. The killings never crossed his mind, until his closest friend stopped showing up at school. He had started to fall for her, when she stopped showing up. A few day's after wards, his professor announced that she had been murdered.

Holly 6 years ago.......
Holly scrunched up in the corner of her bedroom and covered her ears. Her parents were both screaming downstairs. She knew not to move someone else was in her house. Holly hadn't really believed in vampires untill that night. A tall man with blonde hair came into her room that night and brought her away with him. He told her all about vampires and about a man named kyo. Holly didn't want to believe him but she knew it all was true. When Holly got out of the car her parents were standing there. "Mama? Papa?" She had said quietly. Her mother bent down and kissed her with tears welling up in her eyes. "Be a good little angel dear." Her father wispered as they were led away. Holly walked into the house up to a room where a tall brunette with brown eyes and really pale skin walked out and knocked her over. "AHHHHH"

"I WILL NOT SHARE!" Kyo screamed at the lady in the feeding room. He hadn't wanted to live here anyway. He was royal he shouldn't be sharing with others, it wasn't right. "Sir your feeder isn't here yet." The lady wispered. Kyo stormed out of the room and ran right in to a little girl causing her to scream.

Kyo and Holly 6 years ago....
Holly stood up onto her feet and looked up at Kyo. She was only about 4' 5" and Kyo was 6'3". Kyo knelt down to her level and smiled. "Your gonna come live with me, I promise I won't hurt you." He wispered picking her up and carrying her back to his room.
"I'm kyo." He said and put her on the floor. He could smell her blood he could almost taste it. A few more moments and he might go crazy. Holly backed up a little almost sensing he was dangerous. "I'm Holly. Your a vampire and your going to suck my blood. Can we get this over with." Holly stated very grown-uply. "Don't worry it wont hurt at all." Kyo smiled and lifted her up and slowly biting into her neck.


One year ago........
"Holly your parents are dead." Kyo stated bluntly. Holly looked up at him in confusion. She hadn't seen her parents for years. She was 15 now and lived in Kyos room. She hated him so much yet still loved him. He was really sweet but also really mean. As much as holly hated him was only half as much as she loved him. Kyo didn't act like he liked her when other people were around but when they were alone.....so many things had happened between them during feedings. "Kyo I don't care I pretended they died 5 years ago." Holly said moving to the end of the bed closer to him. That night they kissed and kyo never moved his lips to her neck it was the true love the felt, but he couldn't ever show it again. The next morning Holly was crying about her parents death and went with the others to bury them. All the feeders left for an hour to bury the dead on sundays but this was the first time, and the last, Holly ever went.

While Mark waited for an answer, he walked over to one of the very few saplings, plucking a single leaf from it's branches, fiddling with it and looking it over. It was a brilliant orange, and, against the pigment of his skin it created a wonderful contrast, making it seem all the more brighter, and, with the occasional fleck of green it was entrancing. he smiled deviously when he heard a police siren rush past them. His smile twisted at the edges, he pulled out a female's ring from his pocket, slipping it on his pinkie and watching it glint in the sunlight. It was that of his latest comrade a young girl who constantly talked of a boy named Kyle, about how sweet he was and how she thought he was going to ask her on a dat soon. She was so looking forward to it, and, she had given Mark this little token of friendship their last meeting at a small Cafe. See he'd gotten to know this young woman from one of his seminars at the local college, trying to rally kids into rebellion against the killer.

Kyle had become, a sort of, mindless drone when he found that the person he liked was murdered. It became even worse when her parents suspected him of her murder, just because he spent the most time with her. Jenn had never told her parents about Kyle, they would just him with her. Kyle had missed an entire week of school when he found that she was killed. He stayed in his apartment, had food delivered to him, and kept to himself. There were two things he wanted the most: Jenn to still be alive and revenge. He had a spare room in his apartment which he turned into a kind of, base of operations. He had millions of dollar's worth of computers in there, all set and ready for any type of search he needed. Although, he had no luck throughout the week, so he finally decided to go back to school that day.

He left his apartment, after locking everything, and headed for the elevator. His room was on fifth floor and he didn't have much of a will to move, so taking the stair's would end up with him standing half way down the staircase, for hours on end. When he got to the bottom floor, he walked outside and into the complex's parking lot. His car stood out from the rest, he drove a Ferrari. So it stood out from all the other trucks and minivans. The school was about a five minute drive from where he was, so he hopped in his car, started it up, and was at the school in no time. When he walked into his class, every, including the professor, looked at him like they thought he had died. He could hear several people whispering on the far end of the room. He ignored them and walked over to his usual seat, which was not used by anyone else since he stopped showing up, and pulled out everything he would need for the class from his bag. All he really needed to pull out though, was a laptop.

Mark was now back at the school standing before a sea of people, he looked up at his students then smiled "well it's nice of you to join us today" he was wearing Jenn's class ring on his pinkie, it was unnoticeable from a distance but when someone got close enough, they'd see that the ring was made for a petite finger. His jaw tensed when Kyle's head hung low, he wanted to tell the boy it was indeed just a mishap, that Jenn was still alive but, what fun would that be? To leak such valuable information out to the public? he sighed then nodded to everyone else, trying not to grin his wicked smile, however when he did smile his lips involuntarily curled up at the edges.

He paced from side to side waiting for someone to speak when it dawned on him, he hadnt given them any material to talk about "alright, about this killer" he had been obsessively talking about this with the students since the first murder "what do you think his motive is?" no one answered "Is he like the Zodiac killer?" no one answered he growled out of frustration this time, until finally one girl raised her hand "I think he's just mimicking what another man years ago did. Trying to match his pattern but somehow discerning that this is a different man. That he is trying to get his revenge. Personally i think he's a pathetic man who has nothing better to do than to try and terrify the masses" his head tilted forward, jaw ready to drop. She'd gotten it wrong, she knew nothing about the killer he sighed again "Thank you Elizabeth. But i think he's trying to prove to society that one killer can never be wiped off of the map, trying to coax people into a state of panic before letting the eye of the storm sweep through" the class grew silent "well? isnt that what ever killer wanted? Look at BTK" he grinned "he killed many women and yet he was the average Joe, he was the guy down the street that you'd entrust your pets to!" his voice boomed throughout the room "Hell i could be the killer!" the classroom erupted in laughter "Oh c'mon Mr. McHaven! You? the killer?! you tell us not even to kill a spider! how could you take a human life!?" his sharp eyes caught Kyle's attention, head hanging low, he'd obviously fallen for Jenn before her disappearance and information about her death. She was still alive, still very alive.

Kyle's hands had clenched into fists when they started to talk about the murderer. He clenched his teeth so hard, that if he kept doing it his molars would start to bleed. He put his laptop in his bag, stood up, taking his bag with him,and walked by the professor, glaring at him, then stormed out of the class room. He didn't like hearing about the killer, much less having to talk about his opinion about the killer in his class. He went straight for his car and climbed in and just sat there, leaning his head against the steering wheel. He looked up, before starting the car, and looked around, trying to think of a peaceful place, on campus, that he could go. He pulled out of his parking spot and head to the library.

Jenn's head rolled back against the seat she was placed in, she was bound like a rag doll, tears rushing down the sides of her face, her jaw tensed when she thought about what was going to happen to her. When suddenly she got an idea, she immediately struggled against her bindings, one hand popped free, she struggled more pulling the ropes away from her body until finally she had one arm completely free, she hopped herself over to a phone, knocked it off the hook and dialed Kyle's number, when she got his voice mail she sobbed hysterically "kyle!" she screamed "i'm at.." she hiccuped and spat out the address, unable to finish it fully until the phone went dead. This was a defense mechanism incase someone tripped the alarm, and, that she did.

Mark's cellphone immediately began to scream in his pocket "excuse me" he turned and pressed it to his ear "thank you i'm on my way" he jogged out of the classroom, to his small car and sped off toward his home, when he walked in, he caught sight of several curious eyes pressing their faces to his windows "excuse me" he mumbled, they all gasped and ran off, Jenn was in the basement, crying her little eyes out while she redialed Kyle's number. Trying do desperately to reach him.

Before Kyle walked into the library, he quickly checked his phone before he turned off, due to the libraries rules. As he flipped it open, he saw had a new voice mail message. The number the call came from was unknown to him, but he decided to hear what the message was anyway. When he pressed his ear to the phone and heard Jenn's voice on the other side, he almost dropped the phone. As she screamed into the phone, her whereabouts, Kyle had made his way back to his car and was already pulling out of the school's campus. He had driven through the street that the house was on before, so he had a faint idea of where he was going. He drove as fast as he was able to, he didn't plan on being caught by the cops, so he stayed about ten mph above the speed limit. When he got to the street the house was on, he slowed down and looked from side to side, trying to figure out which house he was looking for. When he found it, he parked at the curb, got out of the car, and knocked on the front door.

an elderly woman came to the door "yes?" she was weary with age, wrinkles sagging on her face causing her to look older than she truly was. When she looked up at Kyle she smiled even more, she obviously knew something she wasnt going to tell him "may i help you young man?" her voice was sweet yet forced, like she was holding something. That's when a small cry echoed from behind her, it was Jenn tied to the chair though this time Mark stood over her, holding a rag full of chloroform over her mouth in a weak attempt to induce sleep, she however was moving her head only taking small whiffs of the chemical

When the cry sounded from behind the elderly lady, he tried to push past her,"What was that?" He tried looking past the old woman and into the house, but couldn't see anything due to the way the house was built. Directly behind the door, was a wall. So when you walked in, you would have to turn to the right to get into the living room. Instead of waiting for an answer from the old lady, Kyle pushed passed her and into the living room,"Jenn!" He didn't know how to get to the basement, but if he could hear her cry, then the basement door must be open.

She was fading into oblivion by the time kyle made it into the basement, there was no one else around her, Mark had escaped into one of the several compartmentalized rooms designed for escape, the elderly woman had phoned the police screaming about something of 'breaking and entering'. Jenn didnt care, she just wanted out, she had been raped several times, cut just as many times and was bleeding at an accelerated rate, when Kyle stood over her, she smiled weakly, eyes sliding shut until finally her head sagged and she was sleeping.

Mark stood in one of the several rooms, looking out at them through a two way mirror, he knew they couldnt see him and yet, he could see them. He grinned while he watched Kyle attempt to save Jenn who had obviously been drugged, she was crying while she slept, the vulgar images of her violent rape pushing through her mind. With a tense jaw she cried harder until finally she calmed, letting sleep take her fully.

The elderly woman sighed and shook her head deciding it was better to leave the boy do what he wanted since the police were of no help whatsoever.

When Kyle found Jenn and saw the condition she was in, he nearly puked. He had one of his hand's covering his mouth and the other against the wall, keeping him on his feet as he made his way over to Jenn. When he got near Jenn, he knelt down next to her, trying to figure out how to untie the ropes that kept her bound to the chair. After a few minutes, he figured it out and was now undoing the ropes. He picked her up, slinging one of her arms over his shoulder's and half carried, half dragged her back to the stairs that led back to the actual house,"Jenn, are you alright? Can you make it?"

"everything hurts" she cried again, barely able to keep her eyes open, although when she walked, the cuts on her stomach and chest spewed blood, she had easily 100 incisions scattering her entire body, with every breath, she wheezed. She looked up at him and whimpered when one of her several inflamed cuts tore open blood pouring down her porcelain white skin "Kyle.. am.. i going to die..?" her voice sounded like that of a distant whisper, like she were fading away, that's when a gunshot echoed from in front of them, more blood sprayed from her stomach, she gasped when this happened however doubling over, it was the old woman, her jaw was clenched firmly at this time, she turned on her heel and walked away. Door clicking, open then closed. She left, and, without further notice a car roared to life, she sped down the street to further escape her grandson and what life he had created.

Kyle's eye's opened wide when he saw blood spew out in front of him. He held Jenn tighter as she doubled over, he ended up falling with her. He knew she wouldn't make it to the hospital and after watching her get shot, he didn't know if he could even walk properly, much less drive. He held Jenn close to him and watched as the blood seeped out of the bullet hole and many of the cut's all over her body. He held her and rocked back and forth on the staircase, hoping that someone would find them,"Jenn..." He couldn't even get out a full sentence, as he choked back tears. He looked around the room that Jenn had been tied up in, and noticed all the different knives and other such tools,'What kind of sick freak would think up all of this?'

she leaned up and kissed his lips "Kyle.. i.. love you.." were the last words she was able to manage before she slipped into another unconscious state, she was barely breathing, blood clotting in her lungs she hiccuped and gasped before finally calming down, letting death slowly take her, no she wouldnt die right away, nor would she be completely the same.

Neighbors heard the screams and gun shot, so, they were on their way to help her, an ambulance showed up in no time at all, they carried jenn off "well, are you coming?" one of the paramedics asked looking back at Kyle who was covered in blood and tears "c'mon.. she's gona wanna see you when she wakes"

Three hours of surgery and blood transfusions paid off by the time Jenn was placed in her room, crying and whimpering in her sleep, she wouldnt wake right away, not until the doctor came to get Kyle letting him see her wasnt the best option but, a needed one. A medical mask and gloves were placed on his person "you're going to need these.. she's suseptible to germs right now" he sighed a heavy breath.

As the doctor led Kyle to Jenn's room, he tied the mask on and slipped the gloves on his hands. When he went inside of Jenn's room, there were two nurses, one on each side of the bed. They each checked and adjusted nobs on the machines on both sides of Jenn. He walked towards her bed and one of the nurses moved out of the way so he could stand next to her. As he stood next her, he looked over her body, or the part that wasn't under the bed sheets. She was covered in bandages and had tube's in her nose, mouth, and arms,"Jenn?" He whispered as he looked down at her.

her eyes didnt open at first, but, when they did they were a hollow green, she looked up at him and smiles but barely "Kyle..?.." her voice was small, weak, and yet confident" she was scared yet happy to see him "Wh..ere am i..?" her small body was trembling viciously under the watchful eye of those around her, one of them was Mark. He was a hospital employee so, when he walked into the room jenn screamed, eyes widened she attempted to pull away from him but one of the several needles prevented this from happening, all of the staff looked at him with surprised expressions "jenn? are you okay?" his voice was smoothe "get away from me!" she screamed back arching just as this happened a sedative was pumped into her system "hallucinations are often caused by the drugs we've administered" one of the doctors explained to Kyle, Mark however had escaped by this time.

He nodded as one of the doctor's explained what was happening to Jenn. He looked up to ask Mark something, but he couldn't find him. He walked over to the doorway and looked out into the hallway, looking either way, trying to find him. With no luck, he came back into the room and stood next to Jenn again. By the time he got to her, she was asleep again. He looked back over at the doctor,"How long will she be in here?" At this point, Kyle was more worried about Jenn staying alive, then the murderer who had done this. The killer slipped up though, he left Jenn alive for too long and now she could identify him once she's allowed to leave the hospital. Kyle, of course, would be there when she identified him and he would take matter's into his own hands.

Mark had once more covered his tracks, he grinned widely knowing that Jenn couldnt identify him, that the drug he'd slipped into her IV induces short term memory loss, while he walked away from the hospital he sighed heavy, trying to figure out where exactly his mother had gone until he heard the loud cry of a horn, he jumped and turned to face it's source, he smiled stupidly opened the car door and slipped inside "mother? mother she recognized me!" the old woman growled "did you at least administer the drug?" he nodded in agreement "Good boy"

Jenn's head lulled back, after fifteen minutes of this she opened her eyes looking up at Kyle with a small expression "where am i?" she didnt seem to remember how she had gotten into her condition, how she'd gotten to the hospital, and, when she attempted to stand up she screamed and howled in pain once the stitches tugged in every direction over her body.

Kyle place a gentle hand on her shoulder, keeping her from trying to get up again,"Jenn, your in the hospital.You need to stay still. Your cut up pretty badly and you were shot. The killer that's on the loose, he got to you." Kyle could see that she had forgotten some part's of what happened. He wasn't a doctor, but he knew that when something traumatic happens certain parts of a person's memory are usually blocked, or erased, from the mind for a certain amount of time. He looked back up at the doctor,"How long until she's able to walk on her own?"

"Weeks" the doctor said bluntly, looking over at Kyle then down at Jenn "we need to run a toxicity screen to see what all has been pumped into her, she's been babbling about nonsense for hours now, this isnt normal" the doctor was extremely concerned for the young woman

Her eyebrows pulled together in slight confusion "what?" her head tilted to the side when she attempted to stand up again her jaw tensed and a feint popping sound echoed around them "Lay down" the doctor ordered, her eyes widened and another scream rolled out of her throat, the last time someone ordered her to lay down, it was Mark. She struggled against the doctors hand when he pressed gauze to her wounds when something began to go terribly wrong, several nurses rushed the room attempting to help the poor woman out while she writhed in pain, the heart monitor was slowing to a small crawl, her jaw tensed then slacked open more doctors rushed Kyle out of the room and surrounded the young woman who, was now being taken by death.

"Jenn!" Kyle tried to get back into the room that Jenn was in, but the doctor's on the outside were holding him back, then they called up security. Two, heavily built security guards held each of Kyle's arms and pulled him away from the room. He kept screaming out Jenn's name as he tried to get free of the guards hold. He was able to get one arm free, so he jabbed one guard in the stomach and he released him. He took off down the hall, back to Jenn's room, and as he got to the doorway, he started to fall and he felt a paralyzing feeling in him. The guard he hadn't punched had tazered him.

jenn's head lulled to the side looking over at Kyle who was sprawled across the ground, she tried to smile but all that came was a grimace, her eyes held the expression of death, the doctors pulled the door closed, excluding kyle from their 'fun'.

While they worked on Jenn her heart beat faded into their surroundings. Three hours slipped by and Jenn's condition improved, she's been rushed off to intensive care, where she was basically held in a gian plastic bubble. Kyle was granted permission to see her, she was awake but, crying trying to recall what happened for a private investigator.
