I'd like to introduce you to the Meadows. That's Paul and Ingrid, there beside them is Mark (The eldest), Mabel, and Saddie (the youngest).
The Meadows would seem to be an all American family until the night of August 15, 1963. Paul was driving up to the driveway from work, Ingrid from picking up Mabel and Saddie from a neighboring day care when what happened to greet them as they nearly crashed into each other but smoke. Their house was up in flame. Both parents where in panic, jumped from their cars. Mrs Meadows urged the little ones to stay put as she went along looking for the eldest, Mark. When Paul saw the boy in a rather odd position beside an old tree in the back yard.
The boys eyes were blank with black circles beneath them. Banging his head on the tree and seeming all too distant to hear his father, not even looking up from his fixed view. The couple chose to keep everything quiet and simply move to another suburbs.
Mark didn't talk for that whole night. The parents thought it best not push the boy, they chose to let him rest it off.
And, still....
One night, turned into a week, then weeks to months. They finally chose to take Mark to a psychiatrist. After having no grounds to keep the boy & continue with treatment. They desired to place Mark in "Elle Menuhin Residence for Mental Reconstruction & Psychiatry".
Mrs Meadows cried uncontrollably watching them gently place her son in a wheel chair and carry him inside the building. As they carted him into the presentable building Ms. Elle slowly stepped out holding a cigarette and smiled slightly.
"You all must be the Meadows", she spoke flatly then, before they could finish, turned on her heels looking back and saying, "If I do nothing but stand here answering your questions, I'll never get anything done", and closed the door behind her.....
