The grin on Rain's face faded to a frown. Was this guy a stalker?
"What's it to you? Are you lost?" she countered. Maybe he was also spending the year at the house? That would be an odd coincidence. "Did you... Did you get an offer to spend a year at a house with nine other people?" she finally asked, looking up at him. Boy he was tall! Or maybe Rain was short. How could she have just noticed it? Well, poor observational skills do run through her family...

"Lost? No." Kaito pondered telling the truth for a moment, "Just...wasting time, I guess." When she asked about the stay he blinked in mild surprise, "That I did." He replied curtly. He noticed her looking up at him and mentally sighed again, why did this always happen to him? It was probably his parent's fault...they were abnormally tall people... It was a pain to buy clothes sometimes, but he got used to it eventually. Eventually.

Rain cracked a miniscule smile. She had always loved that reply. 'Had no idea why she did, but she did. Especially when someone said it like that.
"Where you planning on walking there?" she asked. Maybe they could walk together and he would say some more things she liked. Or maybe not. People could be so unpredictable. That had always bugged Rain. Why couldn't people be simple? Why couldn't they mean the things they say? One of her fists shook slightly as unsummoned and cruel memories played through her mind, reminding her of things she would rather forget.

Madie saw a girl and a boy talking to each other, and walked over to them (Rain and Kaito). "Uh, hi! I'm Madie... I just overheard you guys talking about a... house. And some other people..." Madie suddenly realized she wasn't really getting to her point. "I mean, I'm also going to be going to a house with some other people, and I was wondering... maybe you guys are those people." Madie said somewhat nervously while quickly pulling her hair up into a ponytail.

Rain looked over Madie apathetically before turning on her heal. To many people made her uncomfortable.
"I'll be going now," she waved her hand in a dismissive manner while walking away in a random direction. If she kept going one direction, she would probably end up at the house sooner or later. Hopefully before it got too late. Stealing a glance at her wristwatch she took a mental note that she would have to hurry up. It was already 10:00 o'clock.

"Wrong way." Kaito muttered. His eyes glanced at Madie from the corner of his glasses, "Hmm...who knows?" he answered her and then turned to continue walking to the park. It didn't matter if he was late, he wanted to see the stars before he went to live in a house with a bunch of people he barely knew.

Madie sighed deeply. Then she shrugged and pulled out a map from her pocket and unraveled it. She started walking towards the direction of the house, keeping the map out.

About thirty minutes later, after getting lost several times and stuck in dark allies five or six times, Rain ended up at the doorsteps of the house.
"Finally," she mumbled before knocking on the door. Had anyone come yet? Was the door lock? Apparently not, she found out when she turned to doorknob. Creeeeeeek, the door inched open. Giving it a shove, the door swung open faster than she could handle. Toppling over, Rain landed face first on the hardwood floor of the house.
Cursing under her breath, she began to pick herself up.

Madie stared at Rain. She had just tripped over... a door?

Getting up, Rain ventured further into the house, unaware that Madie had been watching. Climbing a flight of abnormally long stairs, she ended up in a green carpeted hallway with brown walls. Several portraits of people dressed in medieval, renaissance, and pilgrim style clothing decorated the wall. Turning left, she opened up one door after another. Laundry-room, closet, bathroom, bedroom, room with a piano, bedroom. Stopping at the end of the hallway, she examined the last bedroom more thoroughly.
A queen-sized bed adorned with black blankets, red pillows, and white trimming, was tucked away in a far off corner, away from several small windows that where at eye level. Hardwood floor was covered by two large rugs, one circular and the other a rectangle. One was white and plush, the other red and wool, or some other rough material. Classic rock and heavy metal poster covered almost every inch of what would be black walls. A single bean bag sat in front of a stereo system.
"Niiiiice," Rain nodded her head before tossing her bags onto the floor and walking towards the bed. Falling down onto it, she shouted into the pillows, "This is my room forever!"

When he reached the house Kaito wasn't surprised to find the door already open and swinging slightly in the passing breeze. He pulled his bag behind him lightly as he stepped carefully into the house. A sense of foreboding suddenly fell upon him and he looked around, a little curious as to why he might have felt that way. When he saw nothing he continued down the first hallway to his left, two rows of paintings lined both walls. Portraits stared out at him from either side, it was enough to give anyone the creeps. But he continued to trek on. That is, until he found the kitchen.
Within the kitchen, while he was wondering if it was safe to look in the closet, something clattered to the floor. Kaito instantly whirled around to see a knife spinning lazily on the floor. How strange, he'd been sure he was the only one who had walked this way. And hadn't he turned the lights on when he entered the room? A cool breeze ghosted over his skin, causing him to get goosebumps. His apathetic eyes turned to the window to find the curtains fluttering ghostlike in the ethereal glow cast by the moon, strange indeed...that window hadn't been open before... Footsteps thudded above his head and he turned his eyes upward, someone was talking upstairs, then...a door slammed somewhere. Kaito's eyes narrowed and he left the kitchen, ducking under the cupboard door that was suddenly swinging in time with the clock. How very strange indeed...
After leaving the kitchen Kaito happened upon a set of stairs and he climbed them quickly. they led up to what he believed was the third landing, judging by the view from the window. Weird, the staircase hadn't seemed that long and yet...what had happened to the second floor? He turned away from the window just in time to see one of the bedroom doors close. So that one was off limits then...a door to his right suddenly creaked open and he raised an eyebrow before stepping in, after all the door had opened for him hadn't it?
The room itself wasn't very different from the room he had at home. It was like the one who had designed this room had known he would be staying in it. How stupid... Kaito left his bags on the side and placed a hand on the bed, causing wrinkles to form on the otherwise smooth bedsheets. Then he sat on the bed itself, whoever had made this room had gotten his preferences right too Kaito noted. This day just couldn't get any weirder. His door suddenly slammed shut and he whipped his head around when he heard a girl's soft giggling. His eyes narrowed again, there was something wrong with this house, he was sure of it.
((I wonder if it's okay for me to post still...?))
