Did you do it? :)

Okay here is a brief history of the thread. I started one like it not to long ago and then everyone suddenly stopped posting. So I wanted to give it another go but I am taking more precautions this time.

In a simple town miles away from any major city things of the paranormal seem to take place. People dissapear in the middle of the night, whole buildings go missing, and strange noises can often be heard. Even though all of these things take place there are few who stay and adore the small village, but they're others who folk to the town in order to discover its strange mysteries. They never last long.

Everton is a small rural town located in the heart of a dense forest. Miles away from civilization it is often over looked on maps. That is the way most of the citizens like it. They fear when visitors come. Because sometimes they never get the chance to leave.

As a citizen you are asked to be a productive member of society unless you are attending school. There are no college's in Everton. You either leave to go to school, if you can, own a shop or small business, or you try to make ends meet by living off the land. Each village member is aware of all things going on. Small town gossip is our only newspaper and an officer with a shot gun is our army.

We rely on one another to survive and it has worked for the past centuries. Whatever happens is Everton stays in Everton. Or atleast that is what the towns folk hope for.

Elle threw a smile over her shoulder. Her eyes met those of a small child for a brief moment before looking back to those of the five year old sitting in front of her playing with the ball the two were tossing back and forth. "Oh you really think so? Yea, I bet your right." Taking another peek over her shoulder to look at the girl on the swing as an explanation was laid out before her. "Defintely. I mean. They hav' ta be taken to a betta place or it just would'n be fair. I know I'll see ma Ma n' Pa again. They prolly livin the good life rite now." When the girl finished up Elle looked directly at the five year old in front of her. A poor boy she had found not to long ago and was still just skin and bone mixed with a bucket full of fright. It was a sad thing to see, but he was already starting to look a little better. She had heard him explain a couple of times how he felt safer or when he didn't. "What do you think?" The usual nod for agreement. Fumbling with the ball for a moment Elle then grabbed a hold of it and looked at the retreating girl running into the house. She heard half of the speak and got what she was saying. 'Poddy break' as Diana called it. Appearing in her place at the door was Paul, the more troublesome of the three. A cold stare and a complaint of hunger and he was gone. A small sigh as she turned her gaze back to Zackariah in front of her waiting for the ball to be returned. "Hungry?" A pause. A nod. "Lets go find something then." Uncrossing her legs she stood and the small boy fallowed suit. Small hands reached up for the ball and she gave it to them. When both were inside Diana came running back to the door, but at the mention of food she forgot all about the swing and fallowed Elle and Zachariah into the kitchen.

Nicole woke up to the sound of brids chirping by her second story window. She smile slightly and opened her window and startled the small animals away. She frowned and then moved to take a cold morning shower. She needed to be fully awake to tend to the store. She finished her morning routines and went to her kitchen to fetch some toast. She trotted down the stairs with the bread in her mouth.

Her home was set up so that she had a medium sized apartment above her florist shop. Her father had built it that way when he and her mother had first arrived to the town. They were runaways. Ana would never get tired of hearing the story of their love. And how they overcame everything and dashed off into the unknown together. She always wanted what her parents had.

Nicole unlocked the door to the shop and flipped the open sign. She walked out onto the dusty street and took a deep calming breath. "Today is going to be a peaceful day," She turned and her smile faultered a bit. "I hope."

The same dance, the same routine.' Shelby thought to herself. She would be spending this time now walking to the few spots in town where food would grow in the town that was edible. She lived off the land, by gathering food, and she was able to help pay her bills by collecting food and turning it into the local "supermarket". Slowly, Shelby made her way down the streets, a basket in one hand, her only gift from her mother in her other hand. She would be at the food grounds soon, and she wanted to get there soon.

Shelby's mind began to race. She was thinking about what her mother might have been like, and what might have caused her disappearance. She think it might have been because of something out there...a spirit perhaps? Or maybe...a demon of some sort. Some people just disappeared like it was no big deal. Others...it was more gruesome. She wasn't afraid if she disappeared. Maybe then she would meet her mother.

Shelby shook her head. If she thought about it for too long, the elders told her, then she would be the next victim to go.

After fixing some very simple sandwiches for the three children Elle set two on plates and handed them to the boys. She need no plate for Diana since she new the girl wouldn't use it. "Why don't you eat with us today Paul?" Elle asked just as the boy was sneaking off to the shared bedroom. "Cause I'm not eating with babies." He responded sharply and continued on his way. Elle didn't bother to argue with him, no use. She new he didn't want to be in the house, maybe if the other children were not around but that wasn't the case. The only reason why she found he stayed was fear. Fear of living outside or having no food. "I'm not a baby!" Diana wailed. Elle reassured that the girl wasn't and then let her eyes travel to the old fashioned clock pushed up against the wall. A sigh of annoyance escaped her. She was running late. "Don't eat me out of house and home." She joked lightheartedly kissing the tops of their heads quickly. She received a hug from Zachariah only because he didn't want her to go.
After stopping by the faithful old mans farm she found that he couldn't have her work for the day. It came as a bit of a ping, but hope was only let down for the day when she couldn't find work at all. Heading back towards her home she made the usual stops along the way. When she made her way to the florist she smiled brightly at Nicole standing outside. "By any chance might you have some work you need catching up on?" It was easier just coming out and saying it. Everyone in town already new she took any work for food or money so she could take care of the abandoned kids.

"Ade! I've missed you today!" Katy exclaimed, truly happy to see her brother waiting by the school gates.

"Sister. I missed you too. Work was quiet again..." He replied, giving his sister a hug. He offered her hand as they headed towards the town centre to pick some food for dinner.

"Oh! I bet you're only saying that!" Katy knew her brother too well. He was always so kind to her, even if he did tease sometimes, and get angry and frustrated when there wasn't much work. She loved to spend time with Adrian though, every chance she got. And after all, she hated to be alone. Especially since their mother had dissapeared.

"Not at all!" Adrian responded, with a cheeky grin on his face. He wasn't lying. He did miss his sister when she was at school. He would worry that one day, she would not meet him at the gates...but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy teasing her when he was in the mood for it.

"Come. I want to show you something. The florest in town had some pretty flowers on display today. I think you will like them." Adrian said, knowing it would lighten both of their moods. It had been a sad 6 months and more. They had struggled for money, and happiness since their mother dissapeared, and it had left Adrian as the sole carer for his young sister, and between feeling guilty for their mother and trying to find money any way possible, he had kept going...if only to keep Katy safe from harm.

They carried on walking, hand in hand towards the flower shop, as Adrian spotted the girl with dark hair walking past with a basket full of fruit and vegetables. She never really spoke to him, but he knew that he was usually the one that bought her pickings once she had sold them on.

"Ah! Good Morning Elle." Nicole gave a sweet smile. She had seen the fair skinned girl around the town a lot. And everyone spoke good things about her. They always talked about how much of a good worker she was. "Of course I have work for you. Follow me." Nicole smiled and walked further into the shop. "You can start by watering the plants, if you don't mind."

Fantasia 05-21-2010 06:39 PM

A bright smile took over her face when Nicole said yes. "Thank you." Fallowing the girl back farther into the shop she let her eyes wander. There were to many perks of working in a flower shop to count. Being around life was one. Harmless and beautiful life. The sent that would catch your nose when the flowers were all blooming. The colors could easily lighten anyone's mood and that was definitely something they needed in the town of Everton. "I don't mind at all." A light laugh fallowed as she looked back towards Nicole.

kandii_k 05-21-2010 06:59 PM

Behind the shop Nicole had a small greenhouse. This is where so grew her plants before she cut and prepared them for show. Near the clear glass wall by the entrance was a small hose. She grunted as she picked up the green, coiled, rubber. "You can attach the sprinkler head and get to work. I've been meaning to get one of the automatic systems but they are so expensive." Nicole rambled as she moved a few flower pots around. "When you're down with back here you can move to the front. There is a pale some where around here. I'd lose my head my head if it wasn't screwed on." Nicole chuckled dryly as she scratched the back of her head. it was true. She was always losing things around the shop and her house. "Thanks for helping out today you saved me a bunch of time." Nicole had received an order for a funeral last night. She had to prepare a large bouquet of white lilies to dress the casket and funeral home. It was going to be exhausting.

She felt bad for the family as well. So it was somewhat emotionally draining. They had lost a young girl, a teenager. She was only 16 and she had gone off to play down by the river with her friends. The current was weak so no one can understand how she suddenly vanished. One minute she was standing knee deep in water, then the next minute she was gone. Nobody saw it coming. Her friends spent the night looking for her body but the came up empty handed. After a week of nothing they finally gave up and decided to move on. Nicole sighed and cut her lilies at different lengths and started to weave a large reef.

Lavinia 05-21-2010 07:08 PM

Adrian and Katy just reached the flower shop as Elle began watering the plants. He didn't know the girl well personally, but she was well known in Everton for taking care of the young children left behind when distaster struck.

Elle was an extremely sweet lady, and she struggled to keep enough money to feed all the children, so she was often found helping out here or in the many other small businesses around. I'd give her work too, if we had any to give...He thought to himself, as he watched her watering the plants.

Meanwhile, Katy was bright eyed and bushy tailed as she stared at every individually coloured flower, smelling the scents with a smile on her face. She loved flowers, just like her mother had done. They would always come here to buy a bunch to place on the table during a Sunday Roast, or for special occasions.

"Oh Ade, they're so beautiful! Can we get a bunch? Please?!" She pleaded, begging her brother to let her get some.

In response, Adrian just shook his head, smiled at his sister, and took out a 10 dollar note for her. She could probably get a pretty decent individually picked bunch for that. As she ran off inside, Adrian looked around for somebody to speak to...

Elle stood and listened to the directions she was given. She watched for a moment as the girl continued talking wile she moved stuff around. "Well, I find it that everything seems to feel better when it is done with hand labor." Grabbing the sprinkler head she screwed it onto the end of the hose. Laughing along with her she smiled. She new the misplacing game all to well. She would often misplace something every other day, except it was more so from her memory problems. It was getting worse, but even though it was obvious she still tried to hide it. One of the few things she was a bit more cautious about. "And I thank you for having the work that needed to get done."
When she started watering she mindlessly started to hum softly to herself. It was barely audible unless others were standing close to her. Looking up when she caught site of movement she smiled briefly to the siblings and then went back to the watering and humming. She couldn't say she new the two well, but in the town it seemed hard not to get to know everyone.

iDragonRose 05-24-2010 03:15 AM

Shelby had enough money after selling to the locals and the super market to buy her flower she always put in her hair. Slowly making her way to the flower shop, she hummed a little bit to herself, pulling her little bunny close. This was the closest thing she had to a friend, since she really never talked to anyone, and nobody really seemed to try, it seemed. She could walk up and down the streets as much as she could, and the only one that would talk to her was her bunny. Maybe today would be her lucky day.

Walking into the flower shop, she had noticed that there were some people there already. The flower shop, a local brother and sister, and the orphanage mistress. She wasn't sure what flower she wanted today. A daisy? no, she got that one yesterday... Chrysanthemum? No, they attract too many bugs. A tulip today. That was it. Smiling a little, she pulled the single tulip out of her choice and went over to the cashier, paid for her flower, and started down the street, humming to her what sounded like an old folk legend.

kandii_k 05-24-2010 05:15 PM

Nicole giggle as she watched a small girl dance around her store taking in the sight and small of the flowers. She looked over at her and smiled. She stopped her weaving and walked over to her. "Can I help you?" Nicole gave ruffled the young girl's hair. She was adorable. Nicole reached over to a nearby flower pot and picked a white daisy. She handed it to the young lady. "You can have this one if you like it. Free of charge." Nicole tilted her head to the side to see the girl's older sibling standing closer to the entrance fot the store. She was trying to remember their names but they escaped her. "Hi, I'm Nicole. I run the flower shop. Can I be of any assistance."

Jason woke up a little before noon. His head was slightly throbbing as he reached for the Jack Daniels on his night stand. He took a large swig and groaned as it burned on the way down. He finally got up enough energy and dragged himself to the shower. He didn't want to go anywhere today and that included his next door bar. He stood under the bath water until it turned cold. He grumbled as he got out and searched for towel. He saw his overloaded laundry basket and shrugged. There was no way he was getting a new towel today. He gave up and just air dried by walking around his home. He dug his nails through his dark hair and cussed under his breath as he tried to find some clean clothes. Everything was either dirty or cut up. Working as a bartender wasn't that disgusting or antyhing but haven't to break up fights on a nightly bases took a toll on his threads.

Fantasia 06-03-2010 10:05 PM

Alec sighed as he placed the last cookie on a tray and slid it under the glass counter beside the rest of the assorted deserts. Every morning the same thing over and over. Get up, cook, shower, break and then sell. The break was easy considering a cool glass of anything with alcohol was right next door. Heading upstairs he stripped out of the clothing and hopped into the burning shower.
Stepping out he wrapped the towel around his waist and opened the door. Cool air quickly attacked his skin as the steam poured out around his ankles. Moving to his room he found a clean outfit. Button up shirt with something under it and jeans along with some sort of shoes. Grabbing his wallet and handy dandy sunglasses he headed downstairs.
Pushing the bar door open he marched right toward the counter.

kandii_k 06-04-2010 01:59 PM

Jason was wiping down the bar when he heard the bell above the door sounded. He looked up to see his neighbor walk in. The man looked exhausted. Running a business could really mess with your sleep time. Jason made a little sound of acknowledgment and waited for the man to make is order. He was trying to remember what the man's name was. It started with an 'A' or something like that. Alex? Allen? Jason rolled his eyes and went back to cleaning glasses and stacking them on the shelves behind him. He had also received a new shipment of liquor that he hand to arrange on the top shelf. Jason was really anal when it came to his bottles. They were alphabetical and then arranged by alcohol percentage. He grabbed a small step ladder and went to work.

Fantasia 06-06-2010 08:09 PM

Taking a seat he rubbed his face then laid his hands down on the counter and looked at the selection. Today wasn't a smooth day. Just one where most would sleep in. Something a little stronger would be the best choice. "Something strong and cheap..." It wasn't that great of an order, but it was what he wanted. Raising a hand to his face he propped his head up and waited for the drink to come.

kandii_k 06-06-2010 08:23 PM

'Cheap?' Jason thought slightly ticked off. He was running a business. Cheap liquor got him nowhere. "Cheap baking bastard' he thought bitterly. "Uh huh," Jason spat out has he reached for clean glass and poured the man some gin. He pushed the glass towards the man and continued on his inventory. Jason was in one of his regulation moods. He wore a scowl on his hard face. It was no wonder no one liked to come into his bar unless they had to.

Fantasia 06-06-2010 10:57 PM

Alec let out a simply 'humph' of a laugh, the corners of his lips turning up. He loved how Jason always was in a horrible mood and it was always easy to make it worse. He new the order probably had made a set back but didn't quite care at the moment. He was a good customer and came in at least five times a weak. Catching the glass he said nothing just let his eyes fallow the worker as he set stuff in its proper place. Drinking it smoothly he set the glass back on the counter half left.

((OOC:: Does everyone else that had joined know that this is back up in full swing?))

kandii_k 06-06-2010 11:57 PM

((I'll pm them.))

After making sure his stock was documented and shelved her busied himself with sweeping up behind the bar. He kept checking on his customer. The shifty baker came in on a regular basis despite the bartender's hostile ways. Jason just deemed him as a freak. Or maybe some kind of sick S&M character. Jason quickly made work of the rest of his bar before her deicded to take a quick shot of vodka. It wasn't like he had a boss that could can him for drinking on the job.
