Scarlett stared at the new guy, this was definitely not expected to her. By the way he reacted it seemed that the item was very dangerous, which only made her want it more. She wasn't gonna let something that fun get out of her reach.

Still there was something strange about that guy, why would be bring something that dangerous to school with the risk that someone take it? There was nothing that dangerous here other than boring teachers and the occasional prank that she may or may not be involved in.

What was he expecting from this school?
Vampires?

Sounds like fun. Crap, lesson's starting. He shut his knife and put it with the parcel in his pocket. What could she want to show him? Deer huh? Sounds like easy prey to me. So no bear? Or even elk? He whispered to her under his breath. He opened his book, grabbed his pen and leaned back. This lesson would be boring.

The teaher walked into the room and started a long talk, you could smell the smoke from her heavy smoking. It was powerful and strong. She went on with the talk. Half of the lesson gone from her smoking and everyone else talking and her new friends stunt. Time had flown with the excitment of her new friend. "Deer is the biggest animals we have around here" she wisppered under her breath.

In a crowded hall of a school, children walk to a fro from their classes. A red headed girl stands back from them peering intently as though she was looking for something. Scarlett was on the lookout for the new kid. He didn't seem to be anywhere in the school. She checked all of the secret passages she knew but nothing could lead her to him.

The only place she didn't check was the forest. As the Idea popped into her head she ran out the door and into the dense bush on the northern side of the school. It was a hot summer day but inside the school it was cool and shady. Wincing as a low branch cut into her leg. Scarlett jumped from the pain and landed in some kind of hole. As far as she saw, there was no way to climb out.

"HELP!" she said desperately praying that the new kid was in here. If he wasn't well, who knew how long she could be stuck here. She was going to be raised by worms!

"COME ON!!! I want to show you the thing i was talking to you about in class" She yelled as she ran ahead. This boy, her friend. Was different. He was like her in some ways..... "HELP!!" The scream was silent but also loud. It was easy to tell that it was scarletts yell. "NOO, she must have fell into the hole." Zero turned and started to run. She could hear other foot steps so Duriel must have been following her. "SCARLETT!! WHERE ARE YOU!!" zero yelled while she ran towards where she had heared the scream come from.

Duriel followed silently. If Scarlett HAD fallen in a hole, she would need help out. As he passed a tree, Duriel grabbed the longest branch he coud reach and snapped it off. They reached the hole quickly and Duriel looked down and, sure enough, there was Scarlett. Swallowing pride he kneeled and reached with the branch, gesturing for her to grab it.

"Is the branch going to be long enough?" Zero had never really had to worry about others so this was new to her, she didnt know what to do. As Duriel bent over the hole to get scarlett out he tried and hopefully he would be strong enough to get her out. "Duriel, i am going to grab the back of your legs and keep you stable." Zero quickly grabbed the back of Duriel legs and stayed strong.

Scarlett looked up, there was something sharp poking her in the head. " OWW" she exclaimed. It was a stick, and ordinary grubby little stick that was useful for poking people but usually Scarlett would never touch something like that, however desperate times called for desperation measures.Grabbing onto the stick she prayed that it was strong enough to carry her.

As she was lifted into the air and onto the ground, Scarlett glanced at Zero and the New guy and muttered without looking at them," Thanks"

Duriel stood and nodded to Scarlett. Then he turned and spoke to Zero. So what did you want to show me? He began walking in the direction they were heading before they had to save Scarlett. And I'm yet to see any deer. Where are they all at?

"don't worry, there will be lots....after all I come here for breakfast and dinner." she whispered the last part to herself. He was different and had to be shown what she could do. After all this boys blood smelt different to other humans. He could be a half breed for all she knows. She would t be alone anymore, but the bid he had that was stolen by scarlett, it was different. She didn't fell comfortable with it, would it be able to hurt her. After all there were still people that hunted vampires because they though there were still more.

Reaching the opening it the woods the light shone down upon the both of them. She couldnt turn back now. She walked forward into the sunlight when all of a sudden she was forced back by a large animal. A buck had run in front of her and was running off." I told you there would be deer" this buck she had feed on days ago. With teeth marks still in it's neck it got to the other side and disappeared.

Waiting for her to show him what she wanted to, Duriel was startled by the buck that ran in front of them. Well I'll be damned. This may be fun after all. He laughed to himself before turning back to Zero. He had a thought, a stupid one, but a thought all the same. Before you show me whatever it is, I want to show you something real quick. I know we haven't known each other for long but I feel that this is right. You aren't like the other girls. You are different. You are real, and the first true friend I have ever had. And with that he stepped forward slowly and leaned in. He hesitated before kissing her tenderly on the lips and then stepping back, smiling sheepishly.

".....that was unusal....." Zero stood there look at him. She had a real friend. This had to prove that he wouldn't be judgemently about her secret. "Please don't be afriad. Duriel.....I am a vampire." Zero smiled towards him with her mouth open exposing her fangs. "Hey, what was in the parciale?" She had to know if it was going to hurt her, after all there are still others that have coming looking for her over the years. If he was one, this could be bad. This was the reson she was often alone.

Duriel stood there, shocked. She was a vampire. She wasn't lying, the fangs proved that. But this wasn't what he expected. He pulled the parcel form his pocket and dropped it to the ground. It spilled open and the pieces lay strewn on the floor. It was a gun with blessed bullets. I was sent here to kill a vicious vampire. A killer. But I can't kill you, you aren't the monster I was sent to kill. You're my friend. That was my gun. Do with it what you will, I can't do this. Duriel kicked the pieces across to Zero's feet. Forgive me, please.

Eyes wide she started to stumble back. "NOO! You can't be a slayer." Duriel pushed the gun towards zeros feet. Zero stumbled back a bit more. Falling to her knees she started to cry. Her head in her hands, all of the hair covered the back and front of her head. " what slayers clan did you come from?" zero looked up. There were many different ones with different ways to kill.

I came here under orders from no clan. I worked for a small organization burnig it was you that I came here to kill then I'm out. Please don't cry. I won't hurt you, no one will. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and held her tight, resting her head on his shoulder. Youre still my friend, and I put my friends before anythig else. Please trust me. Duriel kissed Zero on the forehead and stood, holding his hand out to her. Lets head back, next lesson starts soon.

"I don't think I want to go back to class. See you whenever." zero pushed him away a little and then started to run. She pushed off the ground with her feet and landed in the trees. It was windy and her hair moved to one side of her body. She turned around to see Duriel. He would be sad for her running off. She stood there for a moment, this couldn't be real, other slayers had always come from clans and never left till they were sure there was no vampire, but there was something different his blood. Was it that he had been a half vampire or something else. After all his blood was not human. " please don't be mad!" zero yelled at the top of her voice to make sure he could hear. Zero turned and ran off. She often did this when she was mad.

Duriel turned and walked, alone, back to class. He would have a hard time explainig this to his teachers, why Zero was gone. As he walked down the halls, he slung his bag off of his shoulder and rummaged through it for his books. He walked into his next lesson ten minutes late, sat down and began writing. It wasn't long before the teacher made her way to his desk demanding an explanation. He looked up, ignored her and the stares from other students and continued writing. Still thinking about what happened with Zero, he found himself unable to concentrate. Frustrated he slammed his book shut, stood and left. As he stuffed his stuff back into his bag, his hand brushed something. He smiled.

She stood there. Alone is the tree tops, just out side of the school. She had been watching Duriel for some time now. him walking out of class and walking down the corrador. He had stopped and smile all of a sudden. " what are you doing?" it looked like he could burst out laughing any moment. " there's no one there, wait has he seen me?" zero hadn't ran to her usual hiding place. She was to old for that now for something this small. Maybe if he was truely her friend she may take Duriel there one day.

Duriel walked through the halls alone. He made his way outside and decided to do what he did best. He would cause some chaos. So he stooped, grabbed some rocks from the garden and took aim. No more than a minute and eight windows later, the alarms were raised and the school went into lockdown while the police were called. Then Duriel walked to the janitors shed at the back of the building and switched off all of the power. The alarm was silenced and the phone call to the police was cut short. Laughing, Duriel took something else from his bag. A reinforced padlock that he put onto the power box, disallowing people from opening it and keeping the power off until someone either begged him or got a firearm and broke the lock. His job done, Duriel headed for the woods to the clearing where he and Zero had told eachother the truth about themselves. He sat there and waited for something worth his time and attention to happen.

Zero watched him do all of the horriable things, but had to laugh at what he had done. When he left for the Forrest she also followed. What was he doing, waiting for me to come back or something. She jumped around the trees to get a better view of what he was doing. Running around the trees were fun. Her feet never really touching the trees. Each step she had a good footing till she landed on a smaller branch. CRACK! it broke under her self. She started to fall. Duriel would defiantly see her fall. She fell at least 3merters down whEn she landed on a larger branch. She didn't move. Just watched. " there it is" the gun Duriel owned. It was just sitting there on the floor. It would lay there forever. Afterall zero and Duriel would probely never touch it again

Duriel had not been sitting for five minutes when he heard a branch snapping. He looked up to see Zero lying down on a branch in the trees. He laughed. Then he stood and followed his gaze, the gun sat in pieces in the grass. He walked towards her and stopped a few metres from the tree. Please come down and talk to me. I'm sorry it had to be like this but I won't hurt you. He raised his hands above his head in surrender. And I have something to tell you, something that is good for us both.

" you will not hurt me?" what was she saying. Of course he wasn't going to attack her, after all his weapon was scattered in pieces all over the floor. She jumped down from the tree tops where she had been hiding. She was wary of him after all she had to be wary till she was sure that he was a trusted friend. "what is it that you want to tell me?"

Duriel looked at her, lokked at his feet, sighed and got ready to tell her the truth. From the way you have been looking at me I think you may have already figured this out. I am part vampire. On my first job as a slayer I had to kill a vampire that was ruining a town. During the fight he bit me on the arm. He didn't do enough to make a a full vampire because he was killed before he did any real damage but now I have a small amount of vimpire abilities minus the need for blood drinking. I sate myself with chaos as you saw earlier. Now I have been hired by a bigger slayer group because I'm a better soldier. Not any more though. I got out of my job a year back when I was serving jail time for starting a riot. My parents sent me here. I was given a letter saying that I had to find and kill a vicious vampire here but if it's you then I won't do it. He looked at her, hoping she would forgive him.

she walked over to him and placed a hand on his sholder. "brother" she said. A single word, that's All she would need to say. "I need that vampires name. Please, if you know his name tell me." she hoped he would remember. She had been hunting other half blood vampires for some time for information. Her perants, both vampires, had been killed by a group of half vampires and humans. She needed names

We don't deal in names. I was told his location and that I had to kill him. That was all. I'm sorry. He bowed his head. Then he placed his hand on her shoulder too, looked into her eyes for a moment and then pulled her in, hugging her tight. So we're still friends?
