The Zombie Apocalypse

Just FYI, this isn't meant to be a super detailed gore fest, just fun, with mild zombie violence :]

Almost a year ago a government facility was taken hostage by a group of activists intent on overthrowing the wrongful experimentation of lab animals. Little did they know, the animals had been infected with a virus that turned them into mindless flesh eating monsters with only one goal, to feed. Upon releasing the animals, the group along with the facility's workers, were attacked becoming infected with the virus. It's been a year since the incident and the world is now over run with the walking dead.
They are slow moving, and easily avoided if you don't let your guard down.
There are areas surrounded by walls/barbed wire etc. that are virus free, but there aren't many. Some people have chosen to make their own safe places, while others insist there is no safe place and continue to travel.
You may play a character and zombies, but you do not have to create profiles for the zombies. You can attack yourself with them, or other players. You can kill your zombies and other players zombies, and you may choose to let your character die or become a zombie if you so wish.

We're still accepting characters! :yes:
But, let's not have any more that were part of the military
OR
who were like Alice from the Resident Evil movies please and tank ya' ;)
Be creative in finding your place among the chaos!

Character Profiles:

Quote:
Kya Katsumi

Blair D'Allen

I am a human.

‡ People call me Blair or D'Allen.
‡ I am 20 years old.
‡ I am female.
‡ I can manipulate fire and freeze my immediate surroundings but only for seconds.

‡ My story;

When we first heard about the outbreak we thought it was a hoax. It wasn't until it reached our city that we realized the seriousness of the epidemic. A small group of us decided to head north where we heard there were many safe camps and cities free of infection. There were four of us then, I'm alone now. Two of our group were attacked, I was separated from my best friend months ago. I'm going to continue North, maybe I'll find her at a camp.

------------------------------------------------------------

Kemper Borowicz

I am a human.

‡ People call me Kemp.
‡ I am 27 years old.
‡ I am male.
‡ I can make homemade bombs/explosives with my eyes closed and kill anything with my bare hands.

‡ My story;

I was in the military when the epidemic began, we thought we had it under control, but clearly we were wrong. As a last resort we were ordered to start burning hospitals and gunning down refugee camps. In some towns we were ordered to shoot anything that moved, infected or not. That's when I went MIA, I couldn't do it. I heard there were safe places North, that's where I'm headed.

Kry

Alice Lynn Turner

I am a human.

‡ People call me Alice.
‡ I am 24 years old.
‡ I am male.
‡ I can manipulate and control the wind, but it makes me extremely tired to do so.

‡ My story;

My world had been bad even before the real world had started going to hell. It had started with a man, as such things often do. I had thought that I had found someone to share the rest of my life with. I was so very wrong, I gave my heart completely to this man. A man who did nothing but physically and mentally torment me once he had my heart and love. There are scars on my arms come from that man, the evidence of the physical torture. I eventually escaped from that man. Going back to live with my parents and younger sister.

When the outbreak happened, that man tracked me down. Making sweet promises to take me and my family to a safe place. A place where no virus could touch us. I should have known something wasn't right, the man's eyes had seemed a bit off. Once I had agreed to go with him, the man attacked. Brutally murdering my parents and younger sister. Armed with only a butcher knife, I fought savagely, avenging the murder of my family. Now I travel and I have yet to find a safe place, I don't believe a safe place exists, not for anyone in this world. But rumors are leading me North.

Because of my past experiance I find it hard to trust people, I come off as being cold and rude. I'm somewhat of a loner and very opinionated at times. I always try to keep my forearms covered to hide the scars there.

My weapons of choice are mostly melee, throwing knives and a short sword strapped to my back. I have a gun, but I rarely use it. It's holstered on my right hip.

Dani Olivia Paendrag

I am a human. (At least, that's what she thinks she is.)

‡People call me Dani.
‡I am 19 years old, but looks 11.
‡I am female.
‡I can control luck. Though doing so for others tends to make me very tired and hungry.

‡My story;

Dani has amnesia from a large hit to the head. As such, she doesn't know anything about what's going on, who she is, what she likes, etc. In actuality, it terrifies her. For some reason, she's able to fight hand-to-hand pretty well, and can fire guns. Currently, she's looking for others who can help her remember who, or what she is.

Dani is a pretty caring soul. She lives in free area by herself, largely unaware of what happened outside the walls. As such, she still has to force herself to hunt animals that aren't contaminated, sobbing every time she does. She's also very mature for her age; able to take care of herself in the desolate wasteland that is the world.

Dani also owns a tiny vial labeled Z-Antid, with the rest of the letters too faded to read. Following the instructions on the letter that she found with it, she injected herself with a dose. Unbeknownst to her, that makes her immune to the virus. Of course, there's not enough to cure everyone.

Trinity Kai Young

I am a human.

‡ People call me Trinity, Trin, Rini, Kai, it just depends if I like you or not.
‡ I am 21 years old.
‡ I am female.
‡ I can use telepathy to talk to others and read thoughts, sometimes even temporarily control their mind but doing so gives me nosebleeds before passing out. I can also use free floating energy to create sheilds.

‡ My story;

I had been part of the military, once a sniper, then a medic, till they had reassigned me to a government lab. While there, I'd heard talk of some amazing virus they were working on, something that was supposed to help society, if only they could get the formula right. They never did of course, since soon after I heard that a group of activists managed to attack us, and free the infected animals. Somehow I had been spared, hiding in an underground room, finding another hidden secret among the lab.

------------------------------------------------------------

Sasha Valentine Scott

I am a human.

‡ People call me Valen or Scott.
‡ I am 27 years old.
‡ I am male.
‡ I can heal most anything, mainly by absorbing a muted version into myself(ie, splintered bone would be a fracture, a gash may become a worrisome cut, etc.) I also seem to be able to heal those who are infected, and am unaffected by it myself.

‡ My story;

I grew up normally I guess. Had a great family, loved by my parents, good grades in school. Things became different after I got sick one day. No one knew what the illness was, or why after a few months I was miraculously 'cured'. Afterwards I found out I could heal others by absorbing it into myself, which scared everyone and they sent me away. 17 years, I had been locked away in a government lab, endlessly being tested on. One day, while alone in my room, someone new showed up, covered in blood that was not her own. When things had cleared, we left, searching for safe camps.

Anniebelle (Annie) Marie Langdon

I am a human.

‡ People call me Annie (Anniebelle Marie Langdon).
‡ I am eighteen years old.
‡ I am female.
‡ I was a part-time gymnast, who studied fencing also.

‡ My story;

I was in gymnastics for 6+ years, my family was upper crust so I took up Fencing at the age of seven, then completing my Fencing courses at age seventeen, though I still train, now using actually swords since the apocalypse broke out. I still find time in the day for a couple hours of reading, after strenuous hours of trains. I love nice cool evenings, long talks with my peers, and laying on the grass looking up at the stars. My father was a scientist--turned doctor when all hell broke loose--bent on finding a cure. My Mother left us three years ago. Myself and a few of the guards patrol the area, which has long been barricaded off. I truly hate being the only heir to Langdon family as of now, and also hate the loneliness that comes with my families estate.

Quote:
Roka

Zodi Ell

I am a zombie hunter.

‡ People call me Zodi.
‡ I am around 23 years old.
‡ I am female.
‡ I specialize in throwing knives and can hit any object up to a mile away (I haven't tried going further), though I can use any type of weapon, making me think that I have some sort of affinity for them.

‡ My story;

I really hate telling people or bringing it up, but I have no idea from where I came or what I did before I became a zombie hunter. The furthest that I can remember is when I woke up in a hospital and nurses were asking me things about what had happened that I didn't know the answers to. I believe that one of the nurses had told another nurse that my name was something like Jodi or Zodi, and I'd immediately taken a liking to the second. The other nurse wondering what letter my last name started with ("Does it start with an L?") gave me the idea of my new last name, giving me my new identity.

I don't know what my past life was like, but it must have been really shitty for me to have such a fucking personality. I swear like a sailor and I'm sarcastic and also a pessimist. Maybe that's from losing my memory, but who knows?

I've found out that I have one tattoo and two piercings, a belly button piercing and a nose piercing, both of which are kind of hard to ignore. The tattoo triggered some memory of a flower - an iris, I think, which I now know that I like. I hate sunflowers, though, so don't even try. I can sense when zombies are nearby, as I get a wave of unexplainable nausea.

------------------------------------------------------------

Evan Romanet

I am a human.

‡ People call me Evan.
‡ I am 29 years old.
‡ I am male.
‡ I can fix almost anything that pertains to the human body by surgery or with one of my own medicines.

‡ My story;

I was a doctor/surgeon for the military, but once they started setting innocent towns and such on fire - well, speaking as someone who fixes people for a living, it horrified me. I was going to resign and work in another hospital until I realized that they were gunning those down, too... There was really nothing for me to do but escape. I figured that if I were caught they would only kill me, but if I stayed with them it would only kill what I lived for.

It was like they almost let me escape. I was genuinely suprised at how easy it was, and found a rogue group who taught me how to shoot a gun and use my hands to destroy rather than create. It was only months later that I had to run again from them, because they were being hunted down as well. It seemed that I wouldn't find any peace as it was. I don't know how many state lines I've crossed, but I'm ready to give up. I don't know how much longer I can play this game of cat and mouse.

Quote:
Graxdon

Richard Charleston

I am Human .

‡ People call me Richard.
‡ I am 32 years old.
‡ I am male.

‡ My story;

Before the outbreak I made a splash in the papers as the mass murderer called the new Jack the Ripper since I started off targeting prostitutes, but I didn't limit myself. I punished all the sinners from the thieves to the drug addicts, the murderers and heathens. I simply sought to punish the sinners of God's laws, but now that he's unleashed his fury through this outbreak, I have quite a few less heads to take. I will make it through this test by my lord in heaven, and I will continue my crusade.

-KEMPER-
It was nearing mid-day and the sun was high above the city. Kemp had been traveling from Mexico and was following leads to find this "infection free" city in West Texas. He'd arrived only three days earlier and was let in without problem upon proving he could speak. He'd spent the next 12 hours in quarantine, a mandatory precaution cities took upon letting someone new in, to make sure they hadn't been bitten or scratched and infected. A person usually turned relatively quickly, so if you were still human after 12 hours, you were let into the city. This city sickened him. He walked through the slums as people grabbed at him offering goods and services for trade, illegal alcohol, cigarettes, etc. Up ahead was a large tent, almost like a circus tent, with people rushing to look inside. Kemper made his way to the entrance and peeked inside. In a large enclosed area, like an arena, in the center of the tent was a cage with five zombies inside. Across the arena was another cage with a man and a woman. Near the backside of the tent was a booth taking bets on who, if either would survive. Kemper shivered. What had this world become? He made his way away from the tent towards the edge of the city, only a block or so away. Kemper approached the fence, barbed wire lined and electric. He assumed this was efficient enough as he leaned against what used to be a telephone pole. He needed to plan his next move. This city wasn't what he'd hoped, but he'd heard there were cities, communities, schools, businesses... large areas of uncontaminated people, thriving, North. His eyes drifted closed as he lost himself in thought.

-BLAIR-
Blair had her gun raised pointed at the wooden door to the old timey broken down grocery store that was the size of a small gas station. She slowly approached listening for any movement beyond the door as she kicked it open. Nothing. Stepping inside with her gun still raised she scanned over the place. There were old and dried blood stains about the floor, shelves and counter. Removing her army style back pack she filtered through the bit of remaining food for expiration dates. She was wearing a red bandana over her nose and mouth to keep the sand away, and she pulled it down in her search. A wall of stinch from rotten dairy products and old meat hit her that made her gag. She quickly pulled the bandana back up over her mouth hoping the meat was that of old product, not that of a person. The thought made her nervous as she looked the store over again. Blair grabbed a few bags of chips, candy and canned goods and shoved them in her pack. At the back of the store in the no longer running glass wall coolers she saw what she hoped was water. Making her way towards them she stepped over a fallen sunglasses rack and some other small obstacles. When she reached it she frowned in dissapointment. There were empty bottles scattered around and the only thing that appeared to be left were a few bottles of soda pop. She knelt down to look in the bottom back of the coolers and bingo! She found one bottle of water which was just in her reach that she grabbed and placed in her bag. A cooler down, was a gatorade that was just out of her reach, on the very bottom rack. She set her pack down and her gun on top of it as she layed on her belly to reach for the gatorade. Her fingers were around the bottle when she heard something in the store fall. In an instant she was on her feet, gun in hand, heart racing, scanning the store again. Without taking her eyes off of her surroundings, her back to the cooler, she picked up her pack and dropped the gatorade inside pulling it over her shoulder. Chances were the noise was just a fallen product from the edge of a shelf that she had messed, but she didn't want to stick around to find out otherwise. Keeping her back to the walls where she could see the entire store, she made her way to the exit and out into the blazing Texas sun. She squinted around at the small town, standing on a dirt road, hand over her eyes to sheild them from the overly bright day. She'd heard there was a city near here that was free of infection and she was going to check it out. According to her compass and map, it was a half a days walk from here. She pulled the water from her pack and took a swig. It was warm, but it was hydrating and that's what mattered. Pulling her pack over her shoulders she headed towards the city.

Alice wiped the sweat from his forehead with an arm. The sun was high, it was hot and he hated the heat. Absolutely hated it. He ran a hand through his white hair, those grey eyes glancing this way and that. It was no good, being out in the open, but it was no good being in a building. No where was safe. If it wasn't zombies, it was people that you had to run from. Alice sighed. He wore low heeled boots, kindof similiar to military style ones, black pants and his shirts were sleeveless. His forearms covered by arm bracer type accessories one might have acquired from a hottopic store.

Sword strapped to his back, various throwing knives hidden all along his person, and a gun holstered at his hip. Alice might look as if he were ready for anything, but honestly, he much prefered it if nothing found him. No zombies or other people. Sometimes it just couldn't be helped. Besides, he was headed north. Rumors said it was safe there. He would have to see that with his own eyes before he actually believed it. He had a bag slung over one shoulder, but he was out of food, and only had one half-empty bottle of water left. Gritting his teeth and squinting against the sunlight Alice trudged onward. Moving north.

Fenris looked down his scope at the scene. There were a pair of teens running from a horde of them. Occasionally, one would stop and fire, but for the most part they were more interested in getting away. Torn, Fenris was unable to leave until he saw the end. H wanted to help, but if he fired, even once, that would give away his position and he'd be in trouble too. More so, because he was on top of a building, and couldn't get away as easily. As he watched, a zombie came out of nowhere and latched itself onto one of the kids. Making up his mind, Fenris quickly sighted the zombie latched onto the kid, and fired. It was a perfect head shot. the kid looked around for who had helped him. Fenris stood and waved. The kid waved back, and kept running. As far as Fenris was concerned, he had fired once, so he might as well help fully now. Shooting as fast as he could aim and work the bolt, Fenris soon managed to thin out the pack significantly. Turning to leave, he saw several zombies headed this way. Sighing, he drew his revolver, and aimed at the closest one. "This is gonna' be a long night." he muttered to himself.

Some time had past when Kemper's eyes shot open at the sound of a scream. He'd drifted off leaning against the telephone pole, sleeping anywhere, anyhow, was something he'd learned how to do in the military, as he'd learned that you didn't sleep if you weren't creative. He spun around, gun drawn to see chaos. People were running and screaming, it was madness. As a young boy ran past him he grabbed his arm, "What's happening?" he asked the boy. Histerically the boy responded, "The zombies in the show! They, they...", frustrated Kemper gave the boy a little shake, "Speak boy!" he demanded, frowning. "They left the arena door open by accident, one of the zombies got out and no one noticed!" Kemper released the boys arm and he ran off. "Fuck" Kemper cursed the dumb people of this city. He was planning on leaving anyway, but this would make it harder. Luckily he knew of only five zombies in this city that were loose, and no one would have had time to change yet if they'd been bitten. Before being stuck in blood bath city Kemper made his way to the exit through the crowd of panic and fear stricken people. The gates of the city had been opened and abandoned. Slipping out of the gates with a mass of people Kemper knew he needed to put some distance between himself and this place. He knew there was a small old western style town a little East of here. Replacing his gun in it's holster he remained in the center of the road, eyes scanning back and forth, constantly aware of his surroundings making his way towards the town. His walk was fast paced as he knew he needed to make it there before dark.

Blair could see the city now, she was in the outskirts walking in the road as she noticed people running from the center of the city. What the... ahead of her she saw a man calmly walking in the center of the road looking like he was sure of himself and knew where he was headed. She met him in the road stepping in front of him. "Excuse me, what's going on? Isn't that a Safe City?" she asked pointing towards the chaos.

Kemper looked down at the young girl who'd blocked his path as she spoke. "It was" he replied simply as he stepped around her to continue walking. One thing he learned in his travels was that you were better off on your own, so ignoring people was best, as they always seemed to gravitate towards his protective and strong ora.

When the man stepped around her Blair turned to watch him walking away. Well, she clearly wasn't going to get anywhere staying here. She noticed the man was tall and built for fighting, he had on camo cargo pants and army boots, clearly a man of the military. He was walking towards the town she's just come from. Jogging to walk beside him she said, "If you're headed towards Rio Pacos the river is dried up and the town has fallen apart. You won't find a safe place to stay there when the sun goes down." She pointed North, "You should head North, I heard there are safe cities there." Looking him over she thought they could make a good team. She was tired of traveling alone and could use a partner as she was small and often needed help doing things, plus, companionship was never turned away when offered to her. "I'm headed to Grandfalls, it's only a couple hours walk from here, you're welcome to join me" she said as she kept up with his brisk walk. "I'm Blair" she said smiling up at him.

Kemper looked down at the girl again. "You're awfully cheery in a time like this" he said judging her. She was small but clearly active, she had gun and knife hoslters scattered over her and was carrying a back pack. Most people who gravitated towards him were weak and slowed him down, this girl may be of use. "I'll follow you to Grandfalls then, but I travel alone, we split there" he said matter of factly. "I'm Kemper."

They watched as people fled into buildings and alleys as they approached the edge of the outskirts. Surely fleeing to their ends in places like those. A sign up ahead said "Grandfalls" and had an arrow pointing left. They turned onto the small two laned road and headed towards the place in silence.

Reloading quickly, Fenris scanned the area. Seeing that he'd killed the zombies, he quickly got to the bottom floor. And started to wander the streets. He kept an eye out for those teens, but he didn't see them. Coming up to a police station, Fenris stopped to scavenge what he could. There wasn't much left, only a few rounds for his pistol, and a couple of bottles of water. He was about to leave, when he noticed a map. On it, circled in red, were several cities. A few were crossed out. Looking at a note scribbled in the corner, Fenris was surprised to see that these were cities deemed, "safe" From the infection. there were a few circles that weren't cities, however, and Fenris frowned at them. He quickly found where he was not on the map, and located the nearest circle. It was a place called "Grandfalls." Smiling to himself, Fenris folded up the map, and started towards the edge of the city.

By the time Alice had made it close to a new town his half bottle of water was completely empty. Of course his trip hadn't been completely uneventful. Alice had dispatched quite a few zombies on his way, his feet were dragging. Food he could do without, but water. Water was what really kept you alive. The young man squinted a bit. In the distance there seemed to be two other people, from this range though he couldn't tell if they were zombies or not. Whatever they were, they were headed in the same direction as him, Alice picked his pace up just a little bit. If they were zombies, he wanted to kill them quickly and run off. If they weren't, he would probably ignore them.

He was already fingering one of his throwing knives. He had found out rather early on that even just a single throwing blade could drop a zombie if it hit dead center of their head. Though mostly, Alice liked cutting their heads off with his sword, it was just a bit more satisfying. The way the two before him moved, he didn't think they were zombies. That was good. He picked up his pace a bit more, though still intent on ignoring them when he got closer. He just wanted to look them over a bit. To see if they looked bitten or if they might change or something. Maybe he was being a bit to paranoid, but it was more dangerous to not be paranoid when things were like this.

Sighing, Dani absently rubbed at the dust on the window with an ammonia-soaked cloth. Honestly, she did her best to make the little town look its best. Despite being the only one around, Dani managed to keep the buildings clean. Heck, they even had power. She had found a simple machine diagram in the power plant, and figuring it out through trial and error, had created an infinite energy loop that powered the town.

The electrified barbed wire and wall surrounding the town three hundred yards away from the closest building in every direction was a little worrisome, but Dani still sprayed it down with an anti-rust formula she had found in the store. She certainly was lucky.

Take yesterday for example. She had been hunting a deer in the woods just outside the walls. She had used up all the ammo for her gun a long time ago, so she only had her knife. As a result, she had gotten pretty good at sneaking. Anyway, she had been sneaking up on the animal when she tripped, sending the knife flying. It had buried itself hilt-deep right where the heart was. She had eaten well that night.

A flap and sudden weight on her shoulder snapped her from her thoughts, and she looked up at the eagle with a smile. She had found him shortly after waking up, and gave him a dose of the Z-Antid. He had just been a baby back then, so she took him in and raised him. Now he was her faithful companion. At the very least, he helped her with loneliness. He was also great for hunting. The tan plumage around his head was beginning to go white too, showing that he was almost an adult.

"Come on, Thorn," she said, leaving the building and stepping onto the street. "Let's go clean the sign." It had been a while since she had last done that. As a matter of fact, the words were entirely illegible due to dust and dirt. Rubbing vigorously, Dani was rewarded with the white letters coming up against the green. Once she was done, she took Thorn and the cleaning supplies back to her home, smiling faintly, and leaving the sign to proclaim its message: Welcome to Grandfalls.

They had been walking for almost two hours now, the city was just up ahead. Kemper reached up and removed the turban like towel he'd draped over his head to keep himself from frying, and wiped the sweat from his face, replacing the towel. The sun was beginning to set on the horizon and he knew that if they didn't get to the city soon they would be in a great danger unable to see in the dark.

Blair was walking silently, lost in thought when she too removed the towel she'd draped over her head to wipe her eyes. The sand and dirt blowing about stuck to her face and annoyed her. Good thing she was wearing the bandana over her mouth or she'd probably have inhaled a pound of this stuff by now. The two of them had gone through the water and she sipped the gatorade before handing the last of it over to Kemper. "Here, finish it off, we're almost there" she said, passing him the bottle.

"Thanks" Kemper replied to her as he took the bottle and drank the warm juice before tossing the empty plastic container over his shoulder. He looked slightly back to see the bottle roll off the side of the road and something caught his eye. Someone or something was following them. "Keep moving" he said to Blair as he removed his gun and turned around to face the white haired man. Gun raised he looked the man over. He didn't appear to Kemper to be a zombie, as he didn't move like one or appear to have any wounds, but that didn't mean he wasn't infected and could change at any moment. Eyes locked on the man he waited for him to approach.

When Kemper told Blair to keep moving, she did, only looking over her shoulder slightly to see what he'd stopped for. She saw the man down the road and assumed he was a zombie that Kemper would handle. It was important in any team to listen to eachother and have trust. They weren't a permanent team, but for this trip they were. Walking forward she awaited the sounds of the gun shots.

Fenris had been traveling for almost an hour, when he saw a what looked to be a city off in the distance. Pulling up his rifle, he looked through his scope, and scanned the area. He wanted to make absolutely certain that there were no zombies before he got any closer. He was about to lower his rifle and keep going, when he saw a couple walking towards the city. He aimed at them. He couldn't make out any details at this range, but one seemed to be male, and the other female. He saw the female pass something to the male, who shortly tossed it to the side. Fenris then saw him pull what looked like a gun and aim at something. Following the male's line of sight, Fenris saw somebody else approaching. Working the bolt to chamber a round, Fenris took careful aim at the new figure, but didn't fire yet. He didn't know if it was a zombie yet. He worried that the setting sun might flash off of his scope, and shine bright enough that they might see him, but Fenris wanted to save as many people as possible. Fenris made sure that his aim was perfect, then watched the situation unfold.

Too much dust and dirt. It assaulted his nose, his mouth, throat and made his eyes sting and water a bit. He didn't have any bandanna's or scarves to cover his face with, but that was alright. Alice had been slowly gaining on the two ahead of him, albeit a bit of a hesitant gain. He watched one toss something over his shoulder, an empty container, then the male had turned. Alice squinted a bit, it was obvious the man had pulled a weapon. He couldn't blame the guy for such an action, nor did he stop moving. The town was just ahead, there had to be water there, Alice grunted lightly, wiping at his eyes for a moment.

Not for the first time did he think of manipulating the wind around him to keep the dust and dirt from blowing into him. It would make him too tired. Something like that was better used as a last resort, though how much help could a little controlled wind be in any situation? Alice shook his head, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand and then running a hand through his hair. A bit of dirt and dust shook loose, but it was only replaced by more. No doubt his white hair looked more like a dirty grey now. The man ahead of him had stopped, and so, even with Alice's hesitant steps, it didn't take him long to come within only a few feet of the male. Unaware of the sniper off in the distance that had him locked in the scope.

Alice didn't stop or speak when he came within a few feet of the man with the gun, the man looked to be of the military sort. He snorted lightly and kept moving. Going past the guy without giving him a second glance. Alice hadn't been sure what he'd do when he caught up with the two ahead of him, but now it didn't really matter, because the town was so close and the sun was setting. For a moment those steel-blue, nearly grey eyes focused on the female still a little bit infront of him.

As the man approached, Kemper lowered his weapon. It was clear that this man was only dehydrated and tired. No blood on him, or dripping from him was usually a good sign. As he passed him by, Kemper looked him over from the back as well, just to be sure there were no hidden wounds. Aware that this man was on his way to death in his condition, Kemper shrugged it off. It wasn't really any of his concern.

Blair had continued walking and was waiting for the gun shot or two that it might take to kill the zombie. When she heard nothing she glanced over her shoulder to see that the zombie was now between her and Kemper. Confused, she stopped and turned to face them. Observing the situation, Blair realized this was indeed not a zombie, but a man, who was clearly dirt eaten, sun burned, and dehydreated. As Kemper began walking after them, Blair hurried to the man who was in need of help. As she approached him she dropped her pack off of her shoulders and reached inside to grab a thin towel, a pair of sunglasses and a small pack of wet wipes. When she reached him she put her hand on his shoulder to stop him. He appeared to be in a daze. She draped the towel over his head and used a wipe to wipe away the dirt from his eyes and face she realized how quickly they needed to get him into the city and find some water. "Are you ok?" she asked him, "Have you been bitten?" She didn't think he had, but it was always a good thing to confirm, although people who had been infected often lied about it, not wanting to be killed or abandoned.

Kemper had been close behind the man when Blair stopped him with the few supplies ready to help. Standing next to the two watching as Blair took control of the situation, he kept to his self. It was admirable of her to help another in times like these, not many people would, he had to respect that. He waited with them, even though they could already see the city. He found himself growing a little fond of Blair and knew in his heart that he liked the company, although he'd never let on that he did. He watched the man as they waited for his response.

He didn't give the man a second glance. Either the man would shoot him or he wouldn't. It seemed like Alice would live a little longer, because the man had clearly not put a bullet between his eyes. When the female turned towards him, Alice gave her a quick once over and that was it. Intending to just walk past her like he had the male. Except. The female seemed to have a different idea. She hurried to him and touched him.

Alice blinked, his body tensing automatically when she had laid her hand on his shoulder to stop him. He paused, eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at her, Alice resisted the urge to swat her away, at least, until she draped the towel over his head and began to wipe his face. He swatted her hand, the one holding the wipes, hard. Making a soft 'smack' noise. "Do not touch me." He muttered the words a bit darkly, reached up, taking the towel from his head and dropped it onto her own. He didn't answer her questions..Really did he look okay? Besides, if he had been bitten, the guy she was with would've shot him dead already.

Alice started moving again.

Kemper scoffed when the man told Blair not to touch him and dropped the towel. "Should have just shot the rude bastard. That's why I don't help people."

Blair frowned at the man as he swatted her hand. When he dropped the towel onto her head she reached up and pulled it off listening to Kemper. She lowered her eyes at him too. Looking back at the man as he began to walk around her, "Hey wait a minute, let us help you" she said, resisting the urge to grab his arm, respecting that he did not want to be touched. "It's ok to accept help sometimes you know" she said as she walked after him.

Kemper rolled his eyes as he put his gun away and followed after Blair. The sun was beginning to set and they needed to get to the city fast. A sudden gust of wind blew up the dirt and sand around them not letting up. Great he thought. This dropped their visibility to only a few feet. Kemper hated sand storms, almost as much as he hated the walking dead. Almost. He picked up his pace a little as to not let Blair dissapear in the storm. He knew the city was just ahead but it was no longer in site, he hoped this would not prove dangerous.

"Do you have water? If not, then I need nothing from you." But Alice had stopped suddenly. A subtle shift in the wind, and he frowned deeply, then the sudden gust, blowing dirt and sand around them rather violently. He reached out, his finger tips gently touching the back of the girl's hand, signalling for her to stop. As the man approached them from behind, Alice raised his arm out to somewhat block the man's path.

Visibility was low. The city was no longer within sight. Quite frankly Alice was annoyed as all hell, and very tired of walking. He snorted lightly, glaring at nothing in particular. Though this would just make him more tired than he already was. "Stay close to me." The words were said with a tone of annoyance. He didn't need their help, but they would need his if they were going to make it to the city. Alice closed his eyes.

The wind was already blowing, but around Alice it seemed to blow furiously for a moment, and then it just stopped. The dust in the air around him fell to the ground, and as if a bubble were being blown, the same thing slowly happened around the girl and other male. Alice hadn't made the wind stop, he had just, diverted it from around them. His eyes opened, they glowed slightly as a path in front of them opened up. The wind still whipped about crazily on either side of the path, but the path was clear. "Run. Stay on the path." He would let them go ahead of him, and he would follow. Though he wasn't sure he could make it to the city before his strength gave out.

Fenris cursed the wind. It was throwing up sand that might scratch his scope, and that would make helping them much more difficult. Noticing the trio begin to run, Fenris frowned and looked n the opposite direction than what they were running from. Seeing nothing, Fenris began to worry. Maybe there was something out there that he didn't know of. Standing up, he began to run after them. He realized that this meant all it would take was a glance over the shoulder for them to know he was there, but that seemed like less of a concern to him right now than whatever had them running.

The sand was stinging Blair's legs and arms as she pulled the thin towel on her head down slightly to try and sheild her eyes. She wished she had some goggles as her aviators were useless against a sandstorm of this magnitude. When the stranger stopped and touched her hand she heard his words faintly. Watching him curiously as the sand stopped swirling angrily about them she breathed a breath of the first sand and dirt free air she'd breathed in hours. She smiled happily as she clapped and jumped up and down, "Yay! This is awesome!" She was looking to the stranger and Kemper when she heard 'run'. Her smile faded as she realized the man looked very serious. Doing as she would in any team she looked towards the city, and with a simple, "Right" she began to run for it.

Kemper looked about as the sand and dirt around them fell, no longer stinging their skin and mudding their eyes. When Blair seemed so childishly excited he couldn't help but smile. She was such a positive girl in such a horrifying world, it was almost mind boggling to him. When the stranger told them to run he looked up to see a clear path ahead leading to the city. When Blair took off, Kemper did too without so much as a glance or a thank you to the man who had cleared the path.

Blair had been running as fast as she could when she reached the city that appeared to be surrounded by a wall lined with barbed wire. They were standing in front of two large steel doors with a smaller steel door slightly off to the right. The road simply just dissapeared into the doors. The sign above them read Grandfalls and looked freshly cleaned, too bad it wouldn't be that way for long. Blair began to bang on the large steel doors as hard as she could hoping there were people inside, someone alive, to let them in.

Noticing that one of the survivors had reached the city, Fenris poured on the speed. Sprinting, he did his best to catch up. He didn't want to be left outside in weather like this. Slinging the rifle over his shoulder, Fenris slowly began to catch up.

Humming softly as she went about making dinner, a small plate of roast and mashed potatoes for one, Dani looked out the window where Thorn had gone. He was hungry too, so he had gone hunting for small animals out in the woods. A shrill whistle snapped the petite girl out of her reverie, causing her to dash over to the tea kettle and pour herself a mug. A little hazelnut creamer was added, with sugar and milk of course, and voila!

As she sipped her hot drink, she sighed slightly. It certainly did get lonely out in the town by herself, though the three stores had all manner of food and drink. Power could keep things going for a long, long time. The four leaf clover growing on the window sill caught her eye, drawing a gasp of wonder as she set the tea down to get a closer look. A few of the books in the store, children's books of course yet still Dani's favorite, had mentioned how they were lucky. Maybe that was why she was so fortunate? Shrugging, she left the plant alone before gliding back to the roast.

It was perfectly done! And it was with great anticipation that Dani pulled the meat out of the crock and onto her potatoes. Saying a quick prayer of thanks, Dani dug in. The meal was eaten in silence, not unusual for Dani. Nor was the mess around her face when she was done. Her fine motor skills had certainly regressed a bit while she had been unconscious. Not that it mattered. Who would see?

Having finished, Dani went about cleaning the plate, silverware, crock, and pan. When she was satisfied they were clean, she towel-dried them and put them away, neatly organized as always. While she could have used a dishwasher, Dani preferred doing it manually, though it resulted in more broken dishes than not, to pass the time.

Looking at the bright red sun, Dani chewed her bottom lip before setting out for a walk. It would be nice to feel the breeze. And get some fresh air. She could read when she got back after all. Her only worry was that Thorn wouldn't be able to find her, but it was truly unfounded. Never had he had a problem finding her among the town.

As she walked, stooping to examine and smell her flowers when she passed, she became aware of a banging sound from the gate. Frowning, she neared it before her imagination took hold. What if it was some kind of psycho killer? Or a monster? Hesitantly, she spoke. "H-Hello?" Then she fingered her knife, sitting off to the side of the path in case it wasn't friendly.

Alice watched as the girl jumped up and down and then ran. He watched as the military man followed the girl. Alice hesitated a moment and then followed behind the two. Hopefully there were no zombies sneaking up behind him, but then. They were running and the zombies were rather slow, so that really wasn't a problem. The barrier of clean air ended just an inch behind Alice though. It traveled with him as he rushed forward, down the path he had created to the city. Dehydrated and already tired, doing something like this, it would probably kill him. He'd die of exhaustion. Honestly, Alice didn't expect he'd make it as far as the city, but at least the two ahead of him would make it there.

His eyes glowed softly as he exerted his will over the wind, keeping the area around him and the path clear of the windstorm. Alice ran as fast as he could, stumbling occasionally, as the glow of his eyes slowly dimmed. When he stumbled, sometimes his control would slip and the path before him would disappear. He always reasserted his control after only a few seconds though. So close and yet so far away. Alice grunted with effort, he was nearly there! He might actually make it to the gates before he died.

Blair was banging on the steel doors as hard as she could, "Open the doors! Is anybody in there! Let us in!!!" She hasn't expected this city to be a safe city, so the wall and doors were a new obstacle. Hoping there were people still alive inside the walls of Grandfalls, she continued baging, "Can anyone hear me!? Open the doors!!!"

Kemper had his back to the doors watching out for any zombies that might be trailing around them. When the barrier of clean air fell before returning his eyes looked to the stranger who had helped them. He looked bad. If someone didn't open these doors soon and get this man some water and rest, he would surely die. With his eyes darting for zombies he still paid close attention to the man in case his body gave out. Kemper would fetch the man in thanks for helping them to the city, but he hoped that wouldn't be the case, knowing that if the man did pass out or die, that the barrier around them would fail too, making it hard to get to the man and hard to get back, and incredibly unsafe to be out here at all. The barrier fell again shortly before returning. He looked to Blair with a worried look as it seemed no one was at the gates to let anyone in. This situation looked to be getting stickier by the second.

Alice made it. He actually made it to the gate, the white haired young man collapsed at the feet of the military man. Panting and gasping. He was on his hands and knees, struggling to stay conscious, struggling to continue to exert his will on the wind around them. Keeping them in a slight bubble of clean, clear air. That bubble was faltering and failing fast though. Alice grunted lightly. Why wasn't anyone opening the gate? Someone should be there to open the gate! Alice's whole body trembled, but he didn't give up. He wouldn't give up. He grit his teeth.

Running to catch up, Fenris soon found himself by the others at the door. He glanced all up and down the wally, trying to find a crack they could exploit. He almost wished he'd stayed back in the other city. Cursing, Fenris slammed the door with a fist.

When the man made it Kemper was relieved, he really didn't want to fight this sandstorm. He was going to reach out and offer a hand, or arm to help him but Kemper recalled the stranger not wanting Blair to touch him so he would respect that the man wanted his space. When another man rushed up Kemper almost shot him. "Christ!" When he began to inspect the steel doors, the face rung a bell in Kemper's mind. A wide smile plastered itself to his face as he gave the man a strong pat on the back. "Snipe you scoundrel, how the hell have you been?!" he exclaimed staying close to the stranger at his feet, in case he did decide he needed some help. Snipe and Kemper went way back to the military days, they had been in the same eilite squad when the epidemic began. When Kemper dissapeared from the squad he'd often wondered about ol' snipe and what had become of him. He was glad to see him alive and kicking and standing before him in a random reunion.

Taking a deep breath, Dani threw open the doors, stepping back with her knife ready to throw. Despite the fact that they hadn't appeared to hear her, she couldn't let them go in good conscience. What if they died or something? That didn't mean that she wouldn't take safety measures, like the knife, of course.

"Who's there?" she asked, waiting for the dust to clear. Maybe she should have opened them a bit more slowly. They certainly kicked up a lot of dust. "You aren't going to hurt me, right?" Now that was a stupid question. Why on earth would they tell her yes?

When the dust finally cleared though, she gasped as she saw the man on his hands and knees and panting. Immediately, she darted away to her house. There was water there. Pure too. There were plenty of clean springs around. Dani's power machine had also started the water purification it appeared.

Grabbing as many bottles as she could, she sprinted back, breathing heavily, if not as heavy as the man. Setting the bottles aside, she took hold of the man and began pulling, though she didn't even budge him. He was heavy! Her eyes darted around frantically as she gave up. He wasn't moving for her. Maybe one of the others?

Frowning, she went ahead and grabbed a bottle of the cold water, opening it up and pouring it over the man to help cool him off. Then she picked up another and offered it to him, squatting in front of him, though it didn't make that much of a difference in her height.

"Are you okay, mister?" she asked, trying to get a good look at his eyes. She spared an accusing glance to the others before continuing. "Aren't you going to help him in? He's your friend, right?"
