Still sitting in the chair downstairs, Anette was unaware that Markhel was waiting with tea in front of the girls rooms. She opened her eyes and looked around at the mess sighing deeply. Standing, Anette made her way towards what she assumed would be the kitchen to lend a hand to Markhel and inquire about dinner so that she could be sure to be back in time from picking up her belongings.
Gently pushing through a door, Anette was happy to find herself in the kitchen. But the small feeling of happiness quickly faded as she realized the kitchen was just as dirty as the rest of the house. Her eyes searched the room for Markhel, but he was no where to be found. Instead, there was only a tall purple haired male who appeared to be the cook. "Excuse me for barging in, I was looking for Markhel, I thought he would be in here." She paused for a moment still trying to take in the mess. "You aren't cooking in this mess are you?" she asked disgustedly. It was apparent that those were in fact his intentions. Pushing aside the thoughts that reminded her she needed to be getting her belongings, Anette stepped inside the kitchen letting the door swing closed behind her. "Let me help you," she said, "I was hired today as the housekeeper, you start cooking and I'll clean." She offered a smile as she made her way towards the trashcan, picking it up as she began to throw the trash that littered the floors and countertops into the bin. "I'm Anette," she said. |
Scrythe was in the middle of cleaning up the rest of the dishes, a full trash bag full of all the rotten or dirty things in the fridge. It had been a rather good thing he had bought some fresh produce. About half of the things had been deemed inedible. What the others had eaten, he didn't know. As he put a couple of dishes on the rack to dry, he heard someone enter the kitchen. Thinking it was Mikhael he scowled. "Did you already finish?" he asked, thinking it was impossible for the red head to have finished serving the tea to the girls.
The voice, was a femenine onw though. Looking over he raised an eyebrow. "He just left." he stated bluntly before he resumed washing. Hoping she would leave if he ignored her. The next statement made him angry though. "I'm cleaning up because this is a mess. To cook right now would be a health hazard. Don't underestimate my common sense. It was not this dirty when I was here. I'd just come back from a trip and, found this room in this state. Now if you excuse me, I have some order to put in this room." Looking amused, he raised an eyebrow and stopped washing as he saw her try to clean up. So she was one of the housekeepers. Looking her over, he shook his head. "There's some trash bags that Aren't full, under here. And I will clean this room up, your duty is the other rooms.." She'd need the strength for the rest of the house in due time, and he was always fast in cleaning up his room. "Scrythe. The house cook." |
Anette raised an eyebrow. "I'm so glad you're all so cheery," she said sarcastically as she grabbed an empty trashbag. Anette was quickly realizing her job here was going to be difficult, not just because of the mess, but because of the general attitudes of the people living here. "If you want to have dinner ready before tomorrow, you're going to need some help," she said as she quickly filled the trash bag with random waste through the kitchen. When the bag was full she tied a knot in the top and set it next to a few others. It had only been a few short minutes, but Anette was a quick cleaner. Looking around the still disgusting room, she sighed, at least now Scrythe would have more working room.
"Well, Scrythe you friendly buggar, I need to be fetching my things," she said. "When should I be back by?" she asked, not wanting to be late for her first dinner here and make a horrible impression. Not that she was too sure impressions meant much here, at least the friendly kind. |
Lys still laid sprawled out on the bed in the room she was assigned. She was staring up at the ceiling wondering what she could do with her spare time. Surely Howl would not need her that often and maybe not at all. "Then they would not pay me silly." She said shaking her head at her self. "Maybe I can find a way to the garden some how. I could look around for a way there in my free time." She was surprised a bit by the knocking at the door and turned her head to look over at the door. She heard Markhel's voice from hall and she sat up quickly. "Umm, I'll be out." She said as she scrabbled up off the bed and slipping her delicate feet into her slippers. She walked to the door and turned the knob pulling the door open enough to peak out of the room to look at Markhel. She tilted her head a bit at the sight of the tea, but soon smiled. She had nearly forgotten that he had run off to fetch the two girls some tea. "Thank you." She said smiling opening her door enough for her to slip out into the hallway closing the door behind her. "Is Anette not joining us?" She asked throwing a side glance at the room that she had chosen. It didn't seem that she was there. Then she might be out fetching her belongings because she knew that she must have something she would be bring. As she remembered she hadn't brought with her nearly as much she would need, but neither had she.
|
"I didn't see her on my way here, and she isn't in her room." Markhel shrugged a bit, almost spilling some of the water from the cups in the process. "So, I guess not." His crooked grin was flashed swiftly, but the youth looked around a bit before clearing his throat. "Where do you want to drink it?"
Usually Master Howl knew where he wanted to sit and drink, so Markhel was unaccustomed to someone not knowing where to go to drink tea. Lys couldn't just stand there and drink it, could she? Would she? The youth's golden eyes widened a bit. "We have a dining room. There are lots of balconies, too. And a reading room just over there." Motioning with his head the youth managed to finally spill some water. - ((:XD Don't really know what to do with Cypher or Howl right now. I'm feeling particularly brain dead thanks to work.)) |
((I'm so sorry that it took me so long to catch up on reading the RP... I've been acting in a play and doing college applications. : / ))
The smell of pitch rose in a haze around Hyoyeon, declaring the previous hours of tarring the underbelly of a new ship she had spent to the world. Black smears adorned her hand and the contours of one defined cheekbone, but she wore the dirt with pride. They, along with the constant scent of salt and the nearby sea, were evidence of doing the things she loved. And they, along with a strong sense of hesitancy and curiosity, would accompany her to the city notice-board. After all, her father had encouraged her to go out and simply enjoy the world for a while. Hyoyeon knew that he was feeling his age and needed some time to adjust, but she couldn't help the tightness in her chest at leaving him alone. A brightly blazoned paper caught her eye, causing her to nudge her way towards the crowd towards it. People seemed very unwilling to move. In her frustration, Hyoyeon began listening in on the conversations- and they were not very nice at all. Apparently this 'Howl', whose notice she was reading at the moment, seemed a nasty character. Even so, as her eyes found the final serif of the second notice, something tapped at her heartstrings. Why did she get the impulse that these people were wholly wrong? Her brain digested the term 'entertain', and suddenly she felt awfully plain, in her tarred skin, braided hair and rough-woven working skirt. Hyoyeon hadn't decided yet as to whether she was going to entertain or to clean, but she did know one thing: that she was going. Her curiosity had been spiked, and it would have to be fed in some way. She headed back to clean up, change and pack some minor key essentials, just in case she truly did get to spend the night. Now in more appropriate wear and with her black hair freed at last, she set out to find the place. It wasn't difficult. Hyoyeon made her last, fastidious adjustments to her outfit- smooth that, tuck that, just in case she might be enlisted as entertainer?- and elected to knock on the door. |
The hollow echoing of the knock made Cypher lift her gaze. She'd been reading silently in the side room near the entry. Standing, the tall woman finally opened the door and regarded the girl outside with a cold look. A third. "You are here about the enlistment, I assume?" The pale female slowly moved so Hyoyeon could enter the estate. Her gray eyes stayed on the stranger, but she looked less kind than necessary: she looked critical. "And which position would you be taking?"
((:D Welcome, Raccoons!!)) |
The pink haired girl smiled a bit at his question as to where they were suppose to drink their beverages at. It was assuming that he would ask her even though she had just arrived that day. He had some manners though for asking the guest. It just wasn't something the homeless girl had ever been used to. She had be always been told what to do or how to do it when she was on a job. It was an usually feeling to have someone care about what she wanted. "Do any of the balconies have a view of a garden?" She asked raising one of her pencil thin eyebrow. This would be a wonderful chance for her to see if there was a way to the garden she had seen. She really hoped that she could venture down there.
|
((Thank you! :3 ))
Hyoyeon's gaze met another set of grey eyes, though darker than her own. This woman looked like she didn't think much of her by her looks alone. Hyoyeon wasn't much in the mood to be intimidated, though she did check as to whether her collar had creased or something of the like. Finding her appearance to be satisfactory, she quickly responded to the woman, sensing a possibly brusque nature behind all this business-like behavior. "Yes, I've come about the enlistment," Hyoyeon replied respectfully, aware of the slight accent that always crept into her voice. It was a remnant of the land her parents had recently come from, but it wasn't something others always appreciated. Hyoyeon stepped in neatly when the woman made it possible, maintaining eye contact. "Truthfully, I came to respond to either post as needed. I'm good at cleaning, if more so at fixing things, if that is the question." It was a roundabout answer, but Hyoyeon felt no desire to test the patience of this woman by lying. |
"The garden?" Markhel tilted his head a bit, nodding when he thought of the right one. "Sure do. This way, please." The auburn-haired youth shot the dancer a smile before turning and heading down the hall. It was a small ways down, but they came to double-opening doors. The glass doorway opened smoothly, putting them on a large balcony that could see over all the gardens and to the edge of the estate. "Is this what you were thinking, miss?"
There were a few black chairs and a table made of a strange dark metal, and the railing was intricately carved and decorated with stone just like the rest of the estate. "Master Howl used to spend a lot of time looking out at the garden from this spot. If you look hard enough you can see the fountain." Markhel set the tray down on the table, glancing at Lys once again. "Do you mind if I join you? Scrythe will put me to work in the kitchen if I don't stay out of his way." A sheepish smile followed his words, and he looked out to the dusky garden once again. - Cypher nodded once, glancing at a damaged railing near the stairs. "You can repair and clean, then?" Her gaze took in the woman's appearance, this time less critical. "Which part of the city are you from?" Brusque questions, but ones she'd asked both of the other girls. With her hands folded behind her back, Cali motioned for Hyoyeon to follow her. They stepped from the entry to the main hall which allowed the visitor to take in the monstrosity of the estate. Everything from dust to piles of papers was still quite the dismal appearance. "You would be willing to live within the Pendragon estate until I have released you?" |
“Why must Cali be so stubborn? Zane mumbled as he paced his room, he really disliked the fact that he couldn't stand being in the same room as Howl when they used to do everything together. Unbeknowest to him, another female had entered the house, but as most of the people in the house know, he has a violent temper and tries to only damage his wing but sometimes, like earlier it had reached into the shared part of the house. He wasn't always like that, before he always smiled, he was considered a gentleman even though he caused trouble with Howl. He remembered how Howl used to talk thier way out of trouble while he was the one that handled the fighting part of it all. They were the perfect duo, yin and yang in every sense of the word, brothers for life, but only a few people knew what happened between them and that was going to die with them if they were lucky.
|
Hyoyeon followed the woman's gaze to the railing, automatically surveying the damage. Earlier in the week she had constructed a railing for a ship being repaired. It had been the first time she'd done more than just minor repairs concerning railings, but looking at the damage here, she'd probably be repeating the procedure. "Yes. I could repair or replace that railing, too, depending on what the master of the house's wishes would be and what materials would be available," she said. Her cheeks blushed slightly as her thoughts lingered on the other available post. Still, if this woman thought her better in one than another, that was the better option.
"For the majority of my life, I've lived in the upper half." Her family worked as if they were poor, but in reality were well off. "I came there with my family when I was very young. Now I live in the commercial district of the docks." Hyoyeon looked around interestedly at the mess, secretly delighted with all the paper. Paper meant information, and information meant knowledge. Dust and decay, however, did not cause the same reaction. "I would. I could possibly need time to gather some materials for the work if I were to be repairing, but I've packed the minor essentials just in case," she said, gesturing to the small knapsack that lay unobtrusively on her back. "I assume conditions will be fair, and cause me no real reason to leave," She said quietly, knowing that the statement could be taken wrongly. |
The tall woman watched Hyoyeon for a moment before nodding. "The conditions are fair. You will be part of the household until I deem your work finished." Cypher began to walk then, motioning for the girl to follow. "There are rooms prepared. You may take one of them as your own until you leave."
Her gray eyes flickered up the stairway before she began to ascend. "If you'll follow me, I will take you to where you'll be sleeping." Apparently she wasn't extremely picky about who she let in. Maybe they were just desperate, or something. "There are two others here for their positions," Cypher said, "and Master Pendragon doesn't show his face often. You are restricted from going into any other wing but this one." The West wing was where everyone stayed - the others were certainly off limits as they belonged to Zane and Howl. "If anything is displeasing, bring your complaints to me." She led Hyoyeon to a door that was closed. It was just a few down from the other girls' rooms. "I will have Markhel bring you some tea." The door opened, revealing the clean and well-furnished room beyond. This particular room was decorated with dark greens and golds; dark cherry wood accented the furniture and wall borders. "You will be fetched for dinner later this evening," Cali said, taking a slow breath. It was then that she seemed to have a moment of human-like compassion fill her mind. I haven't even introduced myself. "I am Cali Cypher, the guardian of the household." She offered a pale hand to Hyoyeon as well as a tight smile. ((:squee: I like our group of people. We have a good amount here. :D)) |
((Agreed. Also, not going to pretend I'm not watching Howl's Moving Castle right now. :3 ))
Part of the household... interesting. That was a closer phrase than Hyoyeon had expected out of the woman, but certainly welcome. Hyoyeon followed the woman steadily, taking mental notes on the chaos she passed. If she was the only one cleaning the estate, she would certainly be 'part of the household' for a long time, despite her efficiency. The stairs creaked as they escalated, seemingly out of condition and not age. Here, the handrail needed some polish, too. Hyoyeon's full attention was gathered with the news of two other girls. Were they here to clean? Or were they here to charm? An image came to mind of the typical courtesan, young and beautiful with no tolerance for such mess. Then again, such girls wouldn't come unless this Howl had a great fortune Hyoyeon was not aware of, other than the large mansion. Or was a large mansion enough? She could not fathom the logic of that sort of girl, so she supposed she'd never know. In any case, it was exciting enough news. Hyoyeon hadn't seen anyone other than this woman yet, and while she was an independent personality, she did enjoy interacting with others. The apparent size of the estate would make such things difficult, especially with a master who, according to this woman, did not often show up, if everyone weren't confined to the same wing. Hyoyeon didn't mind that, though it did trigger her curiosity. Especially as to whether that part of the house was even worse, if no one had been let in for cleaning. She nodded her thanks to the woman for offering to hear out any complaints. "Thank you," Hyoyeon said, inwardly wondering about who this 'Markel' might be. Some kind of butler, perhaps? This mansion didn't appear as deserted as it first seemed. She was cut off, however, at the sight of her room. It was gorgeous, with it's well-done accents of gold and quality hardwood. "The room is beautiful," Hyoyeon said, half-way to the woman, and half-way to herself. Even as someone who had lived in the higher-income district, Hyoyeon was unaccustomed to such decor. Her parents were conservative, and often invested money rather than spending it. She spun around to face to woman fully, Hyoyeon's smile glowing. "Thank you," She said softly, aware that she'd said the phrase too much already. Her smile still glowed as she shook hands with the woman, who she now knew to be... Cali? Cypher? Hyoyeon wasn't quite sure what she was supposed to be calling her specifically, but she'd figure it out. She logged the woman's tight smile in her mind, sensing how rare it could be. Still, she was soon drawn to examine the cherry woodwork. It was skillfully carved, seeming to writhe with life beneath her fingertips. |
((Hah! Yes, I watched it just before creating this thread. That's what happens when I have inspiration! I love your character. She's great!))
"I'll leave you to settle in. Markhel will be along shortly." Cypher watched as Hyoyeon focused on the wood, but then left the room silently. Good. Anette wouldn't be able to clean the house on her own, so it was nice to see two people hired for the job. Cali ignored the sound of her heels hitting the hard floor as she neared the balcony. She could hear her "nephew" and Lys talking there. "Markhel. Please serve tea to the newest addition. She's two doors down from this girl." Cypher caught the flicker of disappointment on Markhel's face, but he didn't protest. Before he could, the guardian headed downstairs once again. - Markhel bowed slightly to Lys, laughing sheepishly as he took his own cup of tea as well as the spare he'd set on the tray. "I'll see you around. It's good to see someone so prett-" The youth caught himself, blushing a bit. "Someone so different around here." With that, he set Lys' tea down before her on the table and took the tray, offering a slight smile as he disappeared into the building once again. Minutes later he had fresh hot water and a dry cup sitting on the tray. Knocking awkwardly on Hyoyeon's door, he cleared his throat. Curiosity claweded at him as he stared at the doorknob. What would this girl look like? So far they'd all been beautiful creatures. . . . |
((Aw, thank you, I like your characters too! It's nice to be received so warmly on the RP section of the site. Before, I'd only played Tetris.))
Hyoyeon didn't realize Cypher had left the room until she heard the sharp clack of the footsteps. Her pale skin flushed slightly as Hyoyeon wondered if she had come off as too easily distracted, but the effect was short-lived. Hyoyeon took full stock of her surroundings, laying her knapsack down next to a tall armoire. There was a small mirror in the corner as well, so Hyoyeon decided to brush her hair. She didn't exactly have enough time to unpack or get started on cleaning and repairing before tea, after all, and her fastidious personality demanded the eradication of any travel-induced tangle. After sitting down and getting to it, however, she discovered that her hair its usual self. Soft, if thick and often curly. Hyoyeon decided to set a small french-braid in the front, mainly just to fiddle. She'd just barely finished when the knock sounded, if a bit hesitantly. Hyoyeon tied it off, smoothing non-existent wrinkles in her clothing as she stood up. If this Markhel was anything like Cypher, she'd want to present herself well again. Hyoyeon answered the door, halting just a little bit when she actually saw Markhel. He was startlingly young, far too young to fulfill her guess of butler. "Hello," she said quickly, unsure of the proper etiquette to the situation. Was she supposed to take the tray? |
((:3 Hehe, Tetris is fun. I like Attack of the Fan Girls. *cough*))
"Cypher said you would like some tea," Markhel said, eying the new girl with a slight smile. His golden eyes were finally lowered to the tray before him, which held all the necessary ingredients. "Where do you want to sit? We have a balcony down the hall. There are sitting rooms all over the place, and your room does just fine too, if you want." The youth swallowed quietly, finally wiping away the bit of blush from his features. "I mean, you can sit wherever you like. I just . . . carry the tray." The more he talked, the more stupid he sounded. Markhel's white-tipped hair fell into his eyes as he ducked his head. "I'm sorry. We don't have guests often. I'm Markhel. What's your name?" He looked up at her again, taking in her dark hair and lively gaze. Were all the women sent here angels? |
((A classic as well, though I'm not very good, haha. By the way, should I be waiting for the others to post? There was some discussion in the earlier posts about that, and I'm not entirely sure what to do.))
Hyoyeon stilled at Markhel's gaze, inquisitive of his smile. He seemed a bit flushed, making Hyoyeon wonder if he'd had to run around to serve all the new arrivals. She certainly hoped not. "How about you sit with me? Unless there's something you need to be doing..?" Hyoyeon invited, still unsure of where exactly that would be. The balcony was tempting, but she didn't really feel the need to move. She'd be sure to find the view later. For now, she'd decided that her room was quite the sight itself, as much as she enjoyed the outside. "The room does sound quite fine to me, if that's all right." Hyoyeon was a bit puzzled, and more than a little intrigued at the way his speech began to halt. Her attention was stolen for a moment by the tea selection. A bit of hair fell forwards as she scanned the collection, quickly tucked behind her ear. She selected a white peony tea off the tray, noting that it smelt softly of hazelnut as well. "Please, don't apologize. I'm glad to be within the select few guests, then." Hyoyeon smiled and checked to make sure the room had two chairs. "I'm Hyoyeon, Chae Hyoyeon if you'd like the formalities." He didn't seem the type, but it felt appropriate. |
Zane tossed a random chair, watching as it crashed against the wall as he tried hard to get his mind off the past once more. He then gave a mighty yell of fusteration that rang through out the house as he picked his sword up once more, in the wrong section of course and promptly begin to hack at anything in range. If you didn't know him you would have thought that a monster was living in the pitch black wing, with just an angry shape moving around with angry noises comming from it as more destructive noises follwed suit. A broken chair made its way down the wing and over the railing, crashing down into the entryway, breaking into even more pieces when it hit the floor. “BAKA!!!!!" he yelled down his wing in a vioce that sound unlike his own, calling Howl and himself idiots, clearly lost in memories as he began to destroy even more things.

Nikia walked around the town in her tribal dress, but without the feathers in her hair. People were staring at her as if were some sort fo outsider. The thing was everyone knew who she was. The men liked the look of her, while the woman thought she needed to be in a ladies dress. She didnt mind either of it. if she did not like the way she had looked, then she would not be a true native of the lands. The ladies school made her feel awkward about who she was, only because they showed her that they had so many rules for the ladies. Now she worked in her mothers seamstress shop in order to have money to live on her own. She also did a couple part time jobs, such as gardening for other people, but her suppliers for that always kept it low so her parents never found out.
It wasnt long before she found the flyers that hung in the square. Most people were crowded around them laughing and making jokes. They mentioned that three ladies had already taken the offers up and walked up the walk to Howl's mansion. She looked at the flyers as she heard the girls talking around her. "Two girls already went up there" "But why?" "I guess they want to die. They were really pretty too." It seemed that the girls had turned their attention to her as she walked closer to the flyer in order to get a better look. "Maybe SHE should go up there. She would at least learn some class." "I know. Look at the hideous rags she is draped in. Not proper at all." "It would probably be a good thing if Howl ate her heart like all the other girls." "Dont say that, we need to show that we at least have more class." The girls stuck their noses up into the air and walked off. Nikia drowned out what the girls said and decided she could do the job as well. It would probably be better off if she did go up tot he manor. At least if she did that then she would not make it so that people didnt come to her mother's shop. She looked around at the people and then walked towards the mansion. Her mother would not worry about where she was. It was Nikia's own mothers words that said, "If you dont come back to the shop, i will know you are doing something that you love. Just make sure you write." Of course her mother would be worried, but she knew what women wanted when they grew older. She looked back at the shop before walking up the path and disappearing onto the grounds of the mansion. Nikia knocked on the door, not knowing what to expect for when the door opened. She hoped the jobs hadnt already been taken, but then again, three girls had already come to the manor. Maybe the way she dressed would make it so she didnt get the job. This had been on a whim so she wouldnt be surprised. She sighed as she waited for the door to open. |
"Hyo," he murmured, nodding his head slowly. Every girl that came had such different names . . . maybe that was because he'd never really heard too many. Upon hearing Hyoyeon's request Markhel's golden eyes widened. "Sit with you?" His smile widened, and he glanced past her. "I would love you." The youth stepped into her room upon hearing that was where she wanted to sit. Apparently he didn't suffer from personal boundary syndrome: he wasn't one to think about "personal bubbles" or barriers between people. He'd grown up with a cold-hearted woman like Cali, but he'd also suffered from a lack of touch.
The moment he set the tray down, Markhel's features began to glow. "Do you like the room?" His crooked grin gave way to a chuckle. "Cypher made me clean this one. Just . . . don't look under the rug, okay?" His laugh was sincere: he was being completely sarcastic. - "Zane," Cali set her book down, starting when a chair shattered on the ground level. She eyed the shards of wood warily, and then headed toward the South wing. She knew it was only Zane's area, and she wasn't technically allowed to enter, but the guardian took risks that weren't allowed to others. Her gray eyes narrowed as she heard something else crash, and swiftly made her way to the room where the most commotion was happening. "Calm yourself," she said, approaching the open door with a frown. The portal sat strangely on its hinges and would need to be repaired . . . just like most of the room. Things hung in tatters - pictures were torn, shelves knocked down, books laying askew, splinters of wood were everywhere. . . . "This isn't how anyone should act. Tantrums are for children, Zane." Her features were hard, but there was a bit of pity in her eyes. "We have guests. I don't want them thinking a madman lives here." Cali stayed in the doorway, watching the dark-haired man warily. - Another knock echoed through the downstairs area. It was a long while before anyone answered, though. Howl stepped past the entrance to Zane's wing with an impassive expression, seeming to pay the other man's temper no heed. He made it to the front door in a leisurely manner. When he opened it, his blue eyes took in the tribal girl silently. His usual slight smile never wavered as he stepped aside and waved her in. "You must have read the fliers as well," he said, closing the door behind Nikia. "Cypher will be with you in a moment, miss . . .?" His graceful movement was ethereal - as it always was - as he looked toward the upstairs balcony. Since the balcony surrounded the entire downstairs entryway it was easy to see the entrance to the different wings. When his gaze returned to Nikia, he bowed. "I apologize in advance for any of the other occupants. Today seems to be . . . troubling." |
He almost felt bad for being so snippy. The girl had caught him at a wrong time, considering he was peeved at the fact his kitchen was messy. She'd been trying to help too. The purple haired male almost sighed, shaking his head. "Well, thanks.. Sorry for my attitude, usually not so bad." he explained as he finished washing the dirty dishes. Now moving onto drying it, he glanced over to her. Anette was a pretty good worker, considering she was fast. It would do well to have such a person around the house.
"Dinner shall be around seven. Be back by six thirty if you want." Usually they had it at eight, but since Howl wanted it earlier, they'd have to have it an hour earlier. He nodded at her in a goodbye as he dried the plates, moving them to their proper places. A moment later he frowned at more people coming. Damn. Now he had to make even more food. "Now I have to go shopping again..." |
Nikia was just about to go home, thinking that they no longer needed anyone for any of the jobs. Thats when the door opened and there stood Howl. She took in all of his features. He must have been the most handsome thing that he had seen her whole life. It didnt make sense why he needed women to entertain him. He should have already had a wife or mistress at least. She quickly stepped inside after he waved his hand for her to come in. When she walked inside, it was like she had just been transported to a different world. It was always thought that a manor would be clean and tidy, with many servants to make sure it was. This place was almost as disastrous as a tornado sweeping through the town, gods be willing. She quickly looked back at Howl as he spoke. "I did. They were quite lovely." She said after his comment about the flyers. "My name is Nikia. Master Howl i presume." She said as she made sure to keep her eyes lower than his so as to be respectful, then bowed herself when he bowed. "You have a beautiful home." She started to say before he decided to say that she had come on a rather troubling day. It seemed things were not going as well as they had hoped when it came to the flyers. She could hear someone talking sternly to someone who seemed to be a child. Or at least acting childish. "I was wondering if you have any room for me for any of the jobs you require." She said, staying to the point.
|
((There was a very amusing typo in there, Esmme. It made me giggle. "Sit with you?" His smile widened, and he glanced past her. "I would love you."))
Hyoyeon stepped back, allowing Markhel in completely. While he didn't seem to have many reservations concerning personal space, Hyoyeon did keep a small, unconscious bubble. She thought she heard something, maybe a smash of some sort, but disregarded it. If she had truly heard such a thing, it was too far away for her to be concerned about until it might actually be brought to her attention for whatever reason. " The room is so lovely," Hyoyeon said sincerely, glancing around again while she set up her own tea-cup automatically. The floral scent rose quickly in the steam, seeming to curl around in tendrils. "Thank you. I wasn't expecting quarters nearly so nice. But you know," Hyoyeon paused heavily, the amusement she kept out of her tone showing in her eyes, "that I'll just have to look under the rug now. There simply isn't an option." Here, she couldn't help but laugh quietly, breaking her own facade. Still smiling, Hyoyeon remembered about the coming dinner. "By the way, do you happen to know when the new staff will be expected to start working?" She certainly didn't want to miss the cue, especially not with such favorable treatment. |
((*giggle* I would love to. HAHAH!!!! I bet Markhel even said that with his slippery, stuttering tongue. ;) Love the guy, really.))
Howl blinked slowly when Nikia mentioned his name, but gave no indication to say whether it was his or not. Instead, he took her thoughts into consideration. "I was not the one to post the fliers," he said, glancing to the balcony once again. "It was someone else. She should have heard you knock." The blond looked back to Nikia, ushering her toward the kitchen. "From what I hear Cypher is searching for . . . entertainers . . . and cleaning help." His brow lifted as they walked past the demolished chair in which Zane's sword had been pulled. "I suppose that's reasonable of her, though I do wish she would have alerted me first." The Pendragon noble shook his head as he heard a murmur from upstairs. It sounded like Cali, but he couldn't be sure. When they got to the kitchen, Howl nodded to Scrythe. "Is there any water left in the kettle, Scrythe?" he asked, gently leading Nikia with a hand on her back. Making sure she found a clean place to wait, the male reached up to find a clean cup. - When Hyoyeon started to go on about the room, Markhel kept a polite expression on his face as though he was listening. He almost started to tune her out when she paused, dramatically layering her voice with laughter. "Oh, I see how it is. Get me into trouble with my aunt, and I'll make sure you get kicked out for certain." His golden eyes flickered with sarcasm, and he reached up to nudge the girl's arm lightly. He laughed along with her, and then focused on her question. "There is no signal. Not to worry." He sipped his own tea (which had been prepared while he was talking with Lys, the dancer) while thinking. "My guess is that Cypher will start everyone up tomorrow morning. She doesn't like being useless for long." The teen grimaced. "She makes that all too obvious." He'd been a student ever since he could remember. Ask him just about any question regarding mechanics, engineering, history, mathematics . . . he knew nearly every subject like the back of his hand. He hated it, though. He hated that he'd never ventured into the city. Sighing, Markhel tilted his head. "You never said what you were here for, but that doesn't matter. I enjoy having so many guests, even if Master Howl doesn't." The teen blinked, suddenly remembering something. "What . . . do you think of coming here? What do you expect?" Many people bombarded them (or, Howl, to be more accurate) with accusations that stemmed from rumors. Honestly, some of them held truth. But not all. Was that why every one of these women had come? To see if the stories were true? |
