Sophie paused and blinked. That was a good question. Stumped, she actually stood still and mulled over it. Finally giving up, she bounded over beside Daisy and gave her a quick hug. "Don't worry about it. Probably a teacher can answer that in the morning." She grinned happily. Rachel looked over and sighed. It was a good question. "I suppose there is no set way. There are a few with the ability to tell which rank you are, but they are few and far between. It usually comes with experience and you can place yourself. Your abilities have not shown themselves to be very strong at this point. It is hard to tell with just transforming. You seemed to have been raised as a human and so will have to learn your abilities slowly. That places you most likely at a 1 or a 2. However, everyone can change and become more powerful. So just work hard and someday you will know where you stand in relations to others." She looked over at Daisy with a patient and calm expression. Yet inside of her there was concern for the girl. She was being thrust into a strange and wondrous world. Her upbringing didn't seem to help. Hopefully tomorrow would be more helpful.

Daisy sighed and looked like she was deep in thought. For a moment she thought it would be easy to rank herself. She didn't want to tell them that she had claws and she could do some type of magic. That was pretty hard for her to do when not angered. She had accidentally set her house on fire one time. Her rage can't be controlled at times.

Alex slowly made his way toward Daisy's dorm. He didn't know why he wanted to see her so badly.

Rachel took in Daisy's face and posture. She turned to Sophie and kindly suggested, "It has been a long first day for Daisy. Sophie, thank you for coming by and making sure she is settling in. Perhaps though, now would be a good time to say goodnight." Sophie grinned and gave Daisy another hug before bounding out with promises of a better tomorrow. Rachel turned back to Daisy. "Dear, you have had a long day. Why don't you go outside? The balcony has a lovely view and the fresh air would do you good."

Daisy gave Sophie a fake smile and hugged her before she bounded out into the hallway. She looked at Rachel and nodded. "Sure, I will go try and relax." Daisy half-heartily giggled and stepped out onto the balcony. Instantly her blue nightgown blew around, tangling around her legs. She looked down and smiled as her wet hair stuck to her face. Resting her head on the railing she sighed. Today was a long day and she needed rest. Daisy closed her eyes and just listened to her surroundings as she transformed.

Alex walked slowly and looked up at the sky. He was close to Daisy's dorm and he stopped. "Maybe I should turn around..." Alex shook his head and kept walking.

When he got close he heard a sigh and looked up. Daisy was there in her nightgown. She seemed like she was glowing in the soft dim light of her surroundings. Alex just stood still and just then she transformed. He looked endearingly at her.

Rachel turned back to her homework after Daisy had stepped outside. Maybe should would have to play more than a casual mentor to the young girl. She wasn't used to standing up for herself. As nice as Sophie was, she wasn't always aware of her surroundings or the moods of others. Rachel kept her composure as she came to a slightly hard problem. The assignment would not be fun if there was no challenge to it. With a calm, collected attitude she tackled it methodically. Strong emotions did not suit her. She had mage abilities. She was like a perfect porcelain diplomat for a reason. The memories were jumbled since she wouldn't focus on them.

Being super excited, she blew out the candles on her birthday cake only to watch in horror as the flames expanded towards the table... Giggling happily at a puppy's antics only to realize everyone around her was starting to float off the ground... Watching a friend die in the hospital and blackness filling the room so not even the lights could be seen.... She forced the confusion away and focused on her assignment. There was little room for strong emotions in her world. She prided herself on being as steady and strong as the thickest oak tree.

Daisy thought about how weak she seemed. She would stand up for herself but it was hard to considering Sophie was so nice. She thought about it for a while. Strong emotions suited Daisy in many ways. Her whole life was drama and she could never run from it. Everyone always had something to say or something to do that would bring her down. While she was busy thinking she heard a noise coming from the sidewalk below her.

Her eyes shot open and she saw Alex. "Alex? What are you doing here!?" Her hands were on the balcony and she was looking down. She was off the ground and on the railing in less than a second. Her strength let her easily plop down onto the railing. Alex looked up at her, surprised that she had heard him. "H-hey." Was all he could say. It was pretty awkward since he never did anything like this. Something kept drawing him back like a moth to a flame. He would have to figure out why sooner or later. As Daisy sat on the railing she glared at Alex, ready to pounce if he didn't give a valid explanation as to why he was here.

With a sigh, she easily finished the last of her homework. Why did things have to come so easily to her. It was almost as if she had survival as a gift. Not that that was possible. Organizing her briefcase for the morning, she carefully placed all her papers, notebooks, and such in order that they would be needed. With that finished, she headed over to her uniform and looked it over. A few wrinkles from the day had appeared. Particularly from her "tripping" incident in the cafe. She set up the ironing board and careful laid our the outfit. When the iron was heated, she slowly and methodically began to iron it out. She then put the iron away where no one could hurt themselves and went to hang up the school uniform. Precision and methods. That was how she ran her life. Always planning, analyzing, evaluating, and then having a flexible plan with several back up plans in place. That was how she ran. The perfect student to everyone around her but herself.

Alex smiled awkwardly and hoped that Rachel didn't hear the commotion or any other students for that matter. Daisy crossed her arms and balanced on the railing. It came easy since she was used to being alone and bored. She used to get bullied alot and she learned how to survive in the best of ways. Fighting came easy but she hated violence. Daisy wondered if Rachel heard her earlier. Maybe she overreacted a bit to Alex randomly showing up. She caught herself blushing and looked back down at Alex and hopped off the railing and onto the ground with ease. "Sorry Alex. Why are you here though?"

Alex sighed in relief and smiled. "I really don't know."

With her homework and outfit all ready for the morning, Rachel wasn't sure what else to do. It was getting late. She walked over to the balcony and looked out. Empty. Raising an eyebrow, she slid open the glass door and softly stepped out onto the balcony. No one was there. She heard voices and leaned slightly over. Seeing Daisy with Alex, she fought a grin and stepped away from the ledge. Turning, she went back inside. So that was what the girl was up to. It was all fine with her, as long as the girl didn't get caught out so late. Wouldn't do to have her in trouble her first night here. She dimmed the lights a little so that Daisy would still have some light to see by. She then crawled into bed. Sleep was an easy thing for her.

Daisy walked with Alex for a while. It was getting late but she didn't want to go back to the dorm. They heard soft talking coming from ahead. Alex grabbed Daisy and hid in the shadows. "What's going-" Alex covered her mouth as two teachers walked past. He was tense and he waited until Daisy bit his hand to let her go. "Ow! What was that for!?" Daisy purred and grinned. "Never restrain me." Daisy hated being restrained it brung back many memories from her past. She tucked those feelings away and shook her head. When she came to Alex was busy apologizing. "Maybe we should head back. I don't want you to be tired tomorrow." He smiled and led the way back to the dorm.

When she got back she creeped into the room as quietly as she could. Daisy stretched and climbed into bed. Sleep was hard for her. When she was a little kid she hated sleeping. She was sort of an insomniac.

Alex walked back to his dorm and snuck in. Griffon was still up and he tapped his foot. "You were gone for a while Alexandre." Alex froze. "You should know that I can hear when you come in. I am a light sleeper." Alex laughed awkwardly and fidgeted. "Can I just go to bed?" Griffon just sighed and slapped Alex in the back. He crawled into bed and curled up with the covers.

The light gray dawn light filtered through mist and dew all across the campus. The time of the rising sun was fast approaching amid the whistles and commotion of the early morning birds. The bell tower stood tall and high from it's rocky base at the school. Slowly, the bell started to move. Gently back and forth it swung until with a powerful lunge it broke the morning sounds with a toll of its own. The morning call to wake up echoed across the grounds and into the rooms of the sleeping inhabitants. Rachel's eyes fluttered open and she sat up to stretch. Quickly hopping up, she gracefully flew to the shower while skillfully snatching up a towel. Turning on cool water to help her feel more refreshed, she hoped Daisy was awake and ready soon for breakfast.

Daisy was a heavy sleeper and the bell knocked her into a state of half and half. She felt groggy as she stretched. Yawning she get up and looked at the clock. Daisy had only had five hours of sleep and she was feeling a bit stiff. She picked up her uniform and put it on since she had taken a shower last night. Apparently Rachel was in the shower and she'd wait until Rachel was done to brush her hair.

Nervous about the day, Daisy thought about every possible outcome today could bring. Hopefully she would have a good first day of all classes. She would wait for Rachel to come out so she could ask what time class started. In Japan they started pretty early but she doubted it was that early here. "They seem like they want you to be comfortable here."

Finishing her shower, she quickly leaped out of the bathroom and twisted her hair up into a bun on her way out to her dresser. Slipping into clothes be her bed, she tossed the towel into the hamper. She grabbed her bag and went to check out the balcony window. A clear, sunny day. Perfect start. She gracefully turned and with poise asked Daisy, "Your ready to head to breakfast?"

"In a sec!" Daisy ran off to the bathroom and brushed her hair quickly. The curls looked perfect after she wet it a bit. She added some hair products and she was ready to go. Daisy ran out of the bathroom. "Ready!" She smiled and tilted her head. She looked like a stereotypical neko schoolgirl you'd see in pictures. She played with a curl and smiled wider.

Rachel looked at her with approval. Quick and adorable. She was sure that Daisy would fit in easily with the other students. She was just too cute not to. She opened the door for Daisy and asked, "How was your time getting fresh air last night?"

Daisy feel a blush creep to the surface. "I-it was pretty good. How did you sleep." She tried not to stutter. Rachel was pretty observant and she would notice if she was nervous. Keeping her composure she grabbed her bag. It had black lace at the top and a knitted back cat on the side. It was a dark red with claw marks in the side. "Come on! Lets go." Her stomach made a light rumbling noise. Daisy grabbed Rachel's hand and smiled, slowly tugging her toward the door.

Rachel moved with her out into the hallway and felt satisfaction at Daisy's answer. Yep, they were getting along just fine. Heading down the hall and eventually outside, she suggested, "Eat a big breakfast and make friends with as many as you can. Don't focus on just one person. If someday you need more than just one friend, you will have them and the support they can offer." It was a beautiful bright sunny day. It would be hard to stay inside for classes during such nice weather.

"I am not good at making friends." She looked down at her feet and twiddled her thumbs like a child. Daisy could act so childish at times. "In fact I am surprised you, Alex, and Sophie would want to be friends with someone like me. I am not all that great." She chuckled coldly. It was due to her past. She feels bad for what she has done to people. Daisy thinks of herself as a monster.


Alex got up and looked at the clock. He was late for breakfast! Again... Griffon was gone and in the cafe already. Alex knew that he would wake him up. He never did. "That bastard!" Alex got out of bed and put on his uniform. He put his earring in his cat ear and a size six gauge below it. It was a blue plug. Wiggling his nose he fixed his hair into the style he wanted. His hair was sort of choppy and messy. Some of it was in his face... scratch that, most of it IS in his face. His hair was a black as a ravens feather. He hurried to the cafe and forgot all of his books for class. After five minutes he ran back to the dorm to grab his bag. "I am so stupid... and late!" He took one last look at the time before running back out of the dorm.

Rachel glanced at Daisy and wondered what had happened to her to make her think that? The evidence so far supported otherwise. "I don't know about that. Evidence and experience on our end says that your a wonderful person and easy to be friends with. So I only have that to go on. You makes friends easily enough and I am sure that you will make more. If in 12 hours you can make 3 friends. Imagine what will happen if you have the whole day to meet people. Don't worry too much. This is a place where we learn, mess up, and learn some more." She felt a tug of concern for Daisy's well-being. She was emotionally injured for some reason. Well, there was a whole year ahead of them to work on it. She opened the cafe door and ushered Daisy on in.

Sophie was sitting at a table when she saw Daisy and Rachel approaching the cafe. She eagerly jumped up and over to greet them. As soon as Rachel opened the door for Daisy, Sophie popped through and hugged Daisy hello. Quickly jumping back with a grin, she started walking backwards into the cafe while speaking happily, Good morning! It is so good to see you. I have already started eating, but you should get something and come join me. And there is so much to choose from. Please hurry!"

Daisy shook her head and scoffed. "Whatever..." She walked forward and put on a smile. "Hey Sophie!" Daisy smiles and looks at everything on display. "Man I am hungry!" She acts happy and goes over to the buffet.

Alex bursts through the door and when he notices Griffon he almost strangles him. "You seriously didn't wake me up!?" Griffon just shrugged. Alex and the rest of the guys laughed. "You are always late Alex!" Frankie exclaimed and let out a hearty laugh. Who know a ghoul could be so feminine looking. Frankie eyes Daisy. "So that's the new girl?" He turns to Griffon. Frankie didn't know Alex was already aquainted with her.Griffon motioned toward Alex. "Ask him."Frankie leaned forward. "You've talked to her?" Alex puffed out his cheeks. "Tsk, yeah. So?" Griffon laughed loudly. "Just talked to her!? You were obsessing over her last night." The rest of the guys laughed and Alex rolled his eyes. "Hey, shes cute. To bad Alex isn't a catch." He stuck his tongue out.

Daisy got some strawberries and tea. She wanted some type of sweets so she grabbed a parfait with chocolate and strawberries. Daisy was making her way back to her table when she saw Alex. "Alexandre!" He turned around and she waved. Frankie laughed. "She seems to like you." Alex glared at Frankie. "Shut it!" He growled. Daisy smiled and made her way to her own table.

Rachel got together a lovely bowl of fruit and some scrambled eggs. It was a lovely compliment of light nutritious food and protein. Not the normal fare you put together but it was easy to eat and she wanted to appear graceful. Always worried about appearances. She turned and headed to the table. Noting Alex and Daisy had made contact, she felt a certain bit of jealousy. Daisy did make friends easier than she believed. She sat down at Sophie's table and pushed the negative thoughts aside. She was grateful that Daisy was having an easier time her first few days than she herself had had.

Sophie munched on some chocolate while watching Daisy and Rachel each respectively come over. "Daisy, your lucky. The guy you like is in the same homeroom as us. I wish..." Staring into space with a sappy smile on her face, Sophie sighed. Rachel fought back a smile and quickly took a bite of some fruit. Her eyes were twinkling though.

Daisy sat down and smiled at Rachel. She to was a bit jealous but of Rachel. She just had some type of elegance as she walked, a sort of pride she wishes she had. Hopefully she could be as respected as her. Daisy noted that she based herself on her appearance though. Daisy thought she didn't really need to since she was cute as she is. She didn't want to admit it but during the night she had woken up and glanced over at Rachel. Rachel seemed so peaceful and rested and...seemed to not have a care in the world. Daisy didn't know why but she could see something was wrong. "Hey Rachel, want some of my parfait?" She picked up the second spoon she had and gestured it toward Rachel. "Come on." She smiled and tried to act bubbly. She then turned to Sophie. "Alex is in the same homeroom huh? What about his friends?"


Alex went to get some grilled fish and some eggs, sunny side up style. Nothing fancy but it was good to him. He tugged on the plug in his ear with a disdained look on his face. Alex walked back over to his table and caught Frankie and Karlo in the middle of the conversation. Karlo was a tall giant but he didn't have the features of one in his human form. He was very, very, tall though. "What was that?" Alex asked. Griffon had long since left the table and went off to the homeroom. He loved to be early. Alex eyed the two guys before him. "We were just wondering what homeroom... whats her face is in." He frowned and spoke in an icy polite tone. "Her name is Daisy." Frankie and Karlo smiled. "Yeah her. Maybe we could set you two up?" Karlo smiled and he had a noticeable gap between his teeth. Alex blushed. "You don't need to guys." Frankie and Karlo insisted and kept on bothering Alex about Daisy and where they stand.

Rachel, with easy grace, smoothly waved the spoon away. It wasn't proper behavior in her mind to eat off of other's utensils and besides, she had a slight fear of sharing germs. "Thank you, but I'll pass. Don't want too many sweets first thing in the morning." She wondered at the suddenly bubbly attitude but let it pass. She watched Sophie come to and blink, "Um, good question. I never paid attention. Eat quickly though and we'll find out." She gave a big smile.

"Aw fine Rachel." Daisy giggled and took a bite of the parfait. Man did she love sweets. "I guess we will see Sophie. I am still going to sit with you though. I promise." Daisy grinned and reached across the table with her pinky out. "Rachel do you have the same homeroom as us?" She hoped so. It would be sad not to see her in the morning. Rachel kind of set the mood for things even though she was quiet and elegant she just helped the flow. Daisy hoped it would be a great day.

Karlo ate some eggs and toast. He didn't really eat much. Karlo was way to busy pestering Alex along with Frankie. Alex was just answering each question vaguely. He looked over at Daisy's table and thought about the questions from earlier about where they stood. It was only her second day so she couldn't be that interested.

After a while Frankie and Karlo gave up and gave Alex some space. They all ate and talked about small stuff. "Do you think we will get a lot of homework?" Karlo hated the thought of homework and he furrowed his eyebrows. "Of course we will. When do we NOT get homework." Frankie gave Karlo a look that said 'are you seriously asking that'. Alex laughed and accidentally flung his spoon across the cafe. They all straightened up and froze. Frankie and Karlo were wide eyed for a moment before the busted out in laughter. Alex didn't know where the spoon went until he looked over at Daisy's table. "Oh... Crap." The spoon had landed at the table and bounced off. It had splattered whatever was on it, probably some egg and fish mixed together, all over Daisy and Sophie.

Rachel hid her bemused smile with an elegant raise of an eyebrow at Alex. She stood and graciously said, "Darling, I know you were aiming for me, but your aim has much to be desired. Be a dear and get some napkins." She started clearing off the table of their stuff as she glanced at the clock. Time to be moving. Remembering that before the spoon there had been a question, she gave Daisy a gentle look, "Don't be hard on him dear, he is appalled. Yes, we are in the same homeroom. I have almost all the same classes as you in order to help you better adapt at this school. Most roommates have the same classes together in order to better facilitate friendships. Mrs. Owlflight thinks of everything." With a wink, she carried their stuff to the trash bins. She didn't add that it had been lonely before without a roommate and that Daisy should have come a darn lot sooner. She was here now and that was what mattered.
