Joseph told the others to try the other high-ways, that while they were on Highway I-65, that the military would be focused on them. He also told them to take the supplies from the emergency reserves, that they earned it. After loading up on his own gear, Joseph got into the car, and waited Reo.

Lindsey got the two children ready and got their things into the car, letting them say good bye to the people they arrived with then got them into the car. She had all her stuff ready and put it into the car as well and got in saying "There we're as ready as we'll ever be."

"Let's hope this is enough. "He said, driving out of the mall. He then started to head to the highway. "This is going to go to hell real quick. "He said, Driving through the first check-point two checkpoints, which had no guards stationed at them. "Let's hope we're prepared. "he said, turning on the radio, to intercept transmissions.\

The Radio blurred, with a Commanding officer talking. "Base to Command. Whats your status on the highway?"

"Highway is secured. Traffic has stopped, and all the city exists have been sealed."

"Affirmative.|

Lindsey sat and watched as they passed the checkpoints as well as other debris. Hearing the radio she looked over at him saying "If its secured then how are we going to get through?"

"I never said it would be easy. Mainly, it will be us dodging bullets, and everything they throw in our way. "he said to her. He then had to dodge a couple of Civi's trying to run off the highway.

"Checkpoint 3 to base! We have a Vehicle, heading up the highway!"

"Neutralize the Vehicle! the driver could be infected, or even dead for all we know. "

"Yessir!"

Lindsey held onto the door slightly and told the children to duck away from the windows just to be on the safe side. Hearing the radio she sighed a little saying "If only we could communicate to them it would be so much easier."

"Even if we could, that wouldn't change anything. They are not going to change anything for a lone ex-soldier. "he said to her, running over a Zombie.

Lindsey looked at him asking "Why wouldn't they? I mean weren't you one of them?"

"They're panicked, and will do whatever they can to make sure this....whatever it is, doesn't spread. "He said. He then busted through the security gate, nearly running over a Military officer in the process.

"Checkpoint 3 to base! We're unable to stop our target! It's continuing it's route on Highway I-65."

"You couldn't stop a single car?! Give me a visual Report!"

"Sorry Sir! We're low on personal here! The driver is driving a Black-sports car with tinted glass. Drivers visual is still unknown. "

"To all Checkpoints on highway I-65, We have a moving black sports car! Stay alert, over."

You hear gun-fire and screams in the background. "Outpost 7 to base! We're facing a Massive crowd of undead here! We're holding, but we might have to fall back if more show up!"

"Maintain your position! They're dead and slow for Christ's sake. Just kill them all "

"they're hard to kill sir!|

"Just Do your job."

"Yes sir!"

Lindesy listened to the radio then said "Their going to kill us though, how are we going to prove that we are alive if they kill us first?"

Breaking through the next checkpoint, he looked at her "Did not you understand what I just said? They will kill us, alive or dead. "he said.

"Checkpoint 4 to base, uhh the target is still going. "

"Are you kidding me?! Maintain your position, the next checkpoint will handle him. "The voice on the radio said. "Outpost 10, I need a Sit-rep."

"We're holding, but damn, there is alot of them! Hold on -Gunfire- There is alot of them! We're almost surrounded! If they cover our east front, we're in trouble!"

"Hang in there! Outpost 7, whats your status, over?"

"We were overrun minutes ago! Still on the move to south-square park to make our stand there! We're killing them, but more keep coming!"

"Roger that, don't lose south-square park!

Lindsey leaned back then said "So were going to die..."

"That's why we're in this car, ramming through these checkpoints. I'm doing what I can to make sure that 'doesn't happen. "He said, running over two Military officers, and some undead. One Zombie got on the hood of the Truck. Joseph grabbed his pistol, and pointed it out the window, at the Zombie. He then fired, pushing the creature off with his windshield wipers.

Lindsey rolled her eyes a little then said "We are so going to die... their going to catch up to us and we are going to die... I mean we can only drive until we run out of gas."

"We're not going to die. "he said to her. He then turned up the radio.

"Uh, it's a negative, sir. Target is still going."

"This is a bad joke! Dammit......Base to Hell-fire, Change your course, and head towards Highway I-65. We have a civilian on the run. He must be stopped!

"Affirmative. Heading towards high-way I-65 now."

"Sir. We have reports that 12 of our Forward Outposts were wiped out in the last 10 minutes."

"where are the troops now?!|

"Scattered. Trying to regroup, sir."

"Dammit! Have them fall back, and uh......regroup north-west near the Written Bridge."

"Yessir!"

Lindsey rolled her eyes then said "Dead..."

Joseph grinned at Roe. "Trust me. We're fine. "He said. You then saw a Helicopter over-head.

The Helicopter started firing with it's Assault turrets. "Stop! This is a matter of National Security! "the voice over the intercom said. "You cannot Exit the city! This is futile, your escape attempt will get you killed!"

Joseph picked up a Microphone that he'd taken with him. "I'm not stopping! YOU HEAR ME?! I'M NOT STOPPING!" He yelled. He then looked, and grinned. Driving to the edge, knowing the helicopter would follow, to be able to keep up, and keep him targetted, the Helicopter then crashed into a Sign (one of those that you see indicating which way to go, when your on a highway). It then crashed, into one of the buildings. Joseph then proceeded to flip the wreckage off.

"Checkpoint 5 to base! We have a problem here! We have alot of dead-heads over here! Our fences are holding, but if that jackass runs them over, we're in deep shit!"

"It's your job to stop this car, Soldier! Do not let him pass, and do not let the zombies do!

"Uh, ye-yes sir!

Lindsey looked at him then said "You could have told them something better then that."

"Would they have believed me?" he asked her, running through the fences.

"Sir, our fences are down! -gunfire- zombies are marching in! -screams in the background- I can't- we can't hold them! Hey, watch out behind- "

"Come in, Checkpoint five......checkpoint five?!.....Dammit "The voice said. "Base to highway I-65: bring in the Bomb squads. If this asshole gets out, this could be a state-wide epidemic. We have to stop him."

"Yessir! We stopped the First Jackasses that tried to get out, and we'll blow him to pieces!"

Lindsey watched then said "Needless death, there could have been a better way." pausing she said "If we get out they will want us dead."

"They won't be able to find us. They will be too busy trying to contain this outbreak. "he said, but the conversation cut off there. A Zombie was on their hood, but this one was......horribly deformed, or mutated for a better word. His head looked like a skull, being pushed out from his skin, and his body looked like bones were trying to pop out.

Lindsey looked at the creature and shrugged a little saying "If that thing wasn't trying to kill us I would think that would be pretty cool, just saying."

The Creature started smashing the window, starting to break it with un-foreseen strength. Panicking, Joseph pulled out a pistol, and began firing at it "DIE! DIE!" He yelled, until enough bullets went into his head.

Lindsey watched as he killed the zombie then said "Their adapting, this is so now going to end well at all. The army will have no choice but the nuke the city, and all those still not infected will die with them."

"Well, we won't have to worry about that. "he said, pointing. You saw the service tunnel, leading out of the city. "We are out of here. "he said.
