Story

The Godtouched are a coven of vampires. They’re the most diverse in terms of age, and they’re the only coven that keeps mortals around for their company rather than their blood. Back in the middle ages they moved around a lot, but in the 18th century they settled down in RamĂzrez House up on Magdalen Hill, a few miles outside of London. There are maybe 40 vampires living there, and probably just as many mortal pets.

It’s got the unfortunate distinction of being the only coven house so close to a major city. It attracts slayers in their dozens, and there is at least one coordinated raid on The Godtouched every year. There was once a similar house a few miles outside of Coventry, but that was destroyed in a recent attack and most of its inhabitants killed. The handful of survivors crawled to RamĂzrez House looking for shelter.

The leader of The Godtouched, an ageless and elusive vampire called Victoria, has called to the leader of all the vampire covens across Britain to assemble at RamĂzrez House in order to discuss something. The nature of the meeting is unknown, but rumors abound that she wants revenge for the attack on the house outside Coventry.

Whatever the case, life in RamĂzrez House is hectic, with vampires and their escorts arriving nightly. With so many vampires around unused to the concept of not killing humans, the mortals no longer have free reign about the house and must be with a member of The Godtouched at all times if they wish to venture out of their rooms. The vampires, of course, ever the social creatures that they are, are thoroughly enjoying the entire affair.

In England’s cities, the slayers come together and talk in whispered voices of a coming war.

Whatever’s going on, it’s got the whole country interested.

Rules.

o1. Literacy is a must, because you'll make me cry if you join and we later discover that you can't write for beans.

o2. That basically means I expect about four decently written sentences from you (as a bare minimum) each time you post. If you don't think you can do that, don't join.

o3. It also means that your character needs to be believable. I realize that this isn't the most realistic of roleplays, but if I see so much as one 12 year old carting around a katana, I swear to God I will go mad.

o4. See how I cleverly turned the first rule into three separate rules? Anyway, mail your profiles to me and I'll stick them somewhere together. All I want to see in your profile is your username, the name of your character, their species (which is limited to vampire or human) and a link to a picture.

o5. That means you have to be creative and incorporate all the other information into your posts.

o6. This is meant to be long-term, so please don't let it die.

It was a warm evening, and there was a lucid band of golden light draped like ribbon across the horizon. There were stirrings in the house as its inhabitants were lifted from their slumber by the twilight ambient in the corridors. Victoria had been awake since before the sunset, protected by the thick velvet curtains drawn across the large windows of her bedchambers. The room was lit by a multitude of desk lamps and wall sconces, and the flickering fluorescence of a computer screen in the far corner.

A young mortal for whom the vampire had developed a certain fondness was sat at her ornate vanity, letting her brush his dark hair and sing him songs from her long-ago childhood. Their words weren’t English and she knew that he didn’t understand them, but she also knew that mortals were more inclined to appreciate the melody than the lyrics.

“We shall have to go downstairs soon, and greet the new arrivals,” Victoria murmured.

As the light outside faded Lucian slowly woke from his slumber. looking over to the pillow next to his, he was saddened to find himself waking up alone yet again. It had been far too long since he'd taken a pet, he missed waking up to breakfast in bed, or so he told himself.
Breakfast, however, was unlikely to come and find him so he would need to go and see to it himself, especially if he was going to be of any help with the new visitors. Quickly dressing in jeans and a dark silk shirt he decided a quick hunt before anything else would be a fine way to start the night. Pulling his long hair into a loose ponytail at the back of his neck he swiftly left his room to find someone to eat.

Victoria laid the brush to one side and rose elegantly from her chair. The ruffled satin of her dress whispered like so many hushed voices as it settled around her feet. She ran her fingers through the silken strands of hair she had been brushing, and felt the crackle of static electricity that had accumulated with each stroke of the bristles. The mortal sat at the vanity watched her reflection and she smiled absently as she felt his eyes on her. There was a simple pleasure to be had in letting a mortal believe that she was unaware of their scrutiny, one that she was sure most humans felt just as keenly as she did.

“Perhaps you should stay here,” Victoria mused. “They never like being introduced to mortals. It makes them feel less superior. Heaven forefend that we should detract from their self-importance.”

There was a dark smile on her face as she spoke, made exotic by the dim quality of the lighting.

“Yes,” she said firmly. “I’m sure that I’ve offended quite enough of my brethren by bringing you along, my dear. Stay here for tonight and you may have free reign of the place in the morning.”

Her smile became brighter as the mortal at her vanity nodded his head and murmured something in acquiescence. She breezed out of the room satisfied that he would stay put and not make any foolish attempt at venturing into the suddenly rather dangerous corridors.

It didn't take long for Lucian to find his breakfast, a pretty little thing wandering about in the wrong part of town. It took a little longer dispose of the body in such a way that a vampire wouldn't be implicated. No use antagonising the mortals quite yet. Feeling the warm blood now filling his veins he felt ready to face the no doubt trying day ahead.

Returning to the mansion he managed to make it all the way back to his room without running into anyone. Striding down the corridor to his room he spend a couple of moments to marvel at the quiet, he didn't doubt that before the day was out the building would be transformed into a cauldron of chaos and noise.

When he'd first taken a room in the mansion it had been in the hope of a more peaceful life. Traveling was all very well, in moderation, but occasionally you just wanted to settle down in one place for a while. Having spent the last many years living a more quite life he was upset to see it once again disturbed. Just occasionally he could understand why it was that some elders chose to lock themselves away for a few centuries of peaceful slumber.

However before he went back downstairs to face the coming events he would need to change. After all it just would not do to appear before the guests looking anything less than his very best. Mentally planning out his outfit for the day he was startled slightly by a door further up the corridor opening.

((Forgive me for lying, but I had a nice idea for a beginning, and I didn't want to forget it before you accepted my character. I hope that this is alright))

Rebecca followed one of the vampire guides through the hallways, keeping in line with her serving tray filled with emptied glasses that once held a dark liquid of some sort, rather thick at her guess. But she did not worry too much of this trivial matter. Rebecca had been born among the vampires, her mother and father both servants in the household, before the attack. Rebecca reverently hung her head, her long golden hair becoming a curtain to hide her sky blue eyes, remembering her parents and their late passing from this world. Lifting her head again after a moment, her guide lead her past a gentleman vampire that caused her to glance back for another look.

His hair was dark, long and unbound, his eyes a deep blue that made her think of the stories she had been told of the ocean. The allure of her masters was a daily occurance, no matter how long she remained among them, she knew would always fall to their mysteries, like all the other humans knew. However, this felt so different, she realized slowly, her mind clouded by the mesmerizing effect the gentleman was having on her.

Trying to look away was the most difficult task she had ever undertaken, so strong was the mysterious effect the vampire had upon her mind. But after what seemed an age, Rebecca turned her head to continue following her guide, tray now trembling in her previously steady hands. Her mind felt like it was full of fog, and soon her body seemed to go into shock from the effects of the vampire all at once, becoming unsteady in her balance before finally losing conciousness.

The tray fell from her hands as her body collapsed where she stood, a few of the glasses shattering on the carpeted floor around her. Seemingly fragile from her fainting spell, Rebecca lay quite still, even as her guide turned to find her servant in a very disturbing circumstance.

"Dratted girl," her guide said aloud, bending to pick up the fallen glass.

Victoria closed the door behind her, resting one pale hand against the surface to stop it from thudding too loudly as it shut. When she heard the distant click of the lock her attention went to the nearby Lucian, at whom she smiled serenely.

“Did I startle you, my dear?”

It was in her nature to call everyone in the household ‘my dear’ it seemed. There was a general assumption that she was the eldest vampire in residence, and so no one had complained directly to her yet. She was sure that there were mutters and grumbles about it from the younger ones who felt patronised, but if they were that upset by it then they would simply have to muster the courage to tell her.

“I’m very sorry if I did,” she said absently, distracted now by Rebecca at the other end of the corridor. “Mercy me, what chaos and tumult is this?”

Victoria watched for a moment, then a knowing smile touched her lips and she glanced back at Lucian with an expression that suggested they shared some secret.

In a sense, she supposed they did. Neither of them would ever be effected by a vampire in such a way, after all.

“It seems your presence has proven too much for Milady,” she observed, indirectly teasing the girl.

OOC~
No worries. :]

Before he had chance to enter his room noticed a lady vampire and a girl walking down the corridor with tray in hand. The empty glasses no doubt a sign that some of the guests at least must have already arrived. As she moved farther down the corridor he noticed the tray she was holding getting gradually more unstable as she was unable to remove her eyes from him. It was only a matter of seconds before she collapsed, the glasses smashing on the floor, the remaining blood staining the plush navy carpet.
At the same time the door to Victoria's room opened, the elegant lady of the house stepping out in time to see the girls fall. Bowing to her out of respect before he waved off the enquiry.

After the second comment he looked back down at the girl. "So it would seem." Lucian spent a few moments watching the startled human, a small upturn of his lips the only sign of his amusement. At times he found such reactions from mortals amusing, however at other times he found them to be quite an annoyance. But it was such an effort to stop the call, which caused such reactions, that he could rarely be bothered whilst in the house. Apparently he'd always had an abnormally strong allure, some would call it a gift after all it was very helpful for attracting meals, but it had just as many problems.

Turning his attention away from the girl at the end of corridor, hopefully it would help her regain her senses, he looked back to Victoria enquiring quietly if she knew who it was that had arrived.

"I shall be join you downstairs if you don't mind waiting a moment or two while I get dressed into something more appropriate. If you'll excuse me ladies"

Ducking quickly into his room it took almost no time for Lucian to change into one of his more formal outfits, a very rich silken Japanese kimono in a lovely shade of blue. He had always liked the more open styles of clothing; they were far closer to what he remembered from his youth. A quick brush through of his long hair and he was ready to step out into the hallway again.

((Would it be okay if I made a second character, maybe one of the visiting vampires, or another human))

After a few moments, Rebecca finally came to her senses and found herself on the carpeted floor surrounded by broken glass and a short tempered vampiress guide glaring at her while she cleaned up the glass.

Flushing a bright pink, Rebecca realized she had fainted and became terribly embarassed. Clamering to her feet, she hurriedly started to pick up the mess she had created, her golden hair hiding her burning face. Quickly, she and her guide plucked all the glass from the carpet, her tray now littered with shards and the remaining glasses that were intact.

"What the devil caused you to faint, girlie?" her guide asked not ungently.

"I..." Rebecca paused, feeling foolish and much like a small child. "The gentleman vampire, he... I couldn't look away, ma'am," she finished with her face flushing again. "And once I did, I felt so foggy and dizzy..."

"You mean his allure? But you've seen many vampires, each having an allure. Why did his affect you so?" she pondered aloud as Rebecca lifted the tray gingerly. "Either way, we'd better get going, although your spell puzzles me," she finished, starting on her way down the hall again.

Rebecca followed her guide, feeling rather foolish at her fainting spell. She wasn't sure what had came over her, as nothing like that had happened before. Sure, she had fallen to the allure before, but it never brought on such fog and dizziness, only a mesmerizing distraction. She sighed and tried to put it from her mind as she made her way to the kitchen and apologized over and over to the lady in charge about the glassware she had broken.

Later, however, Rebecca couldn't help thinking about the gentleman vampire, wondering what had posessed her so, if only for a few moments. Frowning, she set to washing the dishes with such vigor, soap in hand as if to wash away the entire experience from her thoughts.

((I'm not sure if i can post yet, but noone had been responding so I'll just give it a go, please dont be angry with me ^^'))

Chiyo was in her room, she had been there for five days now and no one had come to see her. she had only seen people give her food and apparently shew as to sit in this room and it drove her crazy. She slammed a fist into the door. Tears running from her face, she had no memory from any family, all she knew was she was not to go outside since there were a whole lot of vampires there waiting to suck her blood, wow comforting thought

she slammed another fist into the door, but to her surprise it moved, it opened an inch, they hadn't locked it properly, she thought with delight. she stumbled into the hallway behind the door, she had spend too much time in that wretched room and now she was free. she walked into a general direction, mesmerized by freedom and the view fgrom the windows. The only windows she had had in her room were too high to see from so she was now looking through the window, it looked beautifull, the entire manor was beautifull, so much better thAn that room. she opened the window, having to use a bit of force since it was a stubborn window but it worked and she breathed fresh air. She sighed in delight, this was amazing no more bored days in the room, she'd find a way out nad be free, memories or not, she'd stay with the humans, no one to fear, far away form the vampires

As Lucian left his room he was shocked to hear a loud noise from down the stairs. It took him a moment to realise what it sounded like, the great front door of the house slamming against the wall, he was fairly sure it was the only thing capable of creating such a sound. Hurrying to investigate he wondered if it was perhaps some of the guests, in which case they would need seeing to.

Reaching the top of the stair case he looked down into the foyer to see a rather peculiar group of people walking in through the front door. They were all dressed as though they had stepped right out of the Victorian period, some of them looked to be even older. However the colours they had chosen to array themselves in were completely wrong. No nineteenth century gentlemen that Lucian had ever met would were that particular shade of orange.

"Oh dear." He muttered to himself quietly. "It must be one of those clans"
