She was still blushing when he excused himself to go change. When he came out she gave a small smile. "It's fine. It's better that it happened to me then you. I wouldn't of known how to react to seeing a carved, bloody man in bed next to me.." She said, going over to him to pet Tali on his shoulder. She had enjoyed him saying that she looked good. Carter never told her she looked pretty, he'd always just say she was pathetic.
She put out her hand towards him. "Wanna go downstairs with me? I haven't gotten to explore the whole house and kind of wanted too." She said, looking at him with her green eyes. Andrew shut the door behind her and got out of bed, pulling on brown shorts and a black tee shirt. He then ran his hands through his hair, put on his deodorant and went downstairs to the kitchen. He started to look around the kitchen, checking the fridge to see what he could make. |
((:XD I may be gone for a few days . . . maybe a week. I would reply, but my brain is mush. I'll have to try later. See you soon!))

((Kay toodles! :3 ))
|
Meeting her green eyes with a look of barely witheld excitement, Gideon nodded. "I wanted to look around as well." Though, he'd planned on doing it alone. Stroking Tali after Scarlett did, the youth cleared his throat. "How are you feeling?" It seemed that his habit of speaking in as few words as possible was either fading or he was trying hard to get rid of it all of a sudden.
Placing Tali on the ground, he moved toward the door. "I don't want that happening again," he admitted, his gray eyes filling with disgust. "I don't need to see you hurt." - Alice changed quickly and met Andrew in the kitchen. He was kneeling to look on a lower shelf when she appeared, her white sundress brushing his leg. "Any ideas yet, Tiger?" Her dark hair looked better than ever; the gold belt about her waist accentuated her narrow body. She was wearing gold flats - it seemed that gold and white were the only colors in her wardrobe. The teasing scent of warm vanilla wafted from her as Alice moved toward the sink. "Like I said earlier: the only thing I can make is cake. You'll have to work with me to get anything else that's edible." |
She took his hand, lacing their fingers. "I feel a lot better now that you've helped me. Sure it still stings.. but i've gotten past the stabbing feeling." She said, waving to Tali before opening the door. "I'm kind of hungry.. want to get some food first?" She asked, leading him out of his room and then shutting the door gently so Tali couldn't get out. She didn't want her getting lost. "Oh, and if you ever want time alone just tell me. It's just.. after this mornings incident I probably won't want to be alone after awhile." She said, frowning.
Andrew smirked. "I can make an omelet." He said, looking up at her. "Oooh, cake sounds good for dinner." He said, standing up straight and kicking the cabinet shut. |
"Cake for dinner. How gormet!" Alice laughed, and brought a good-sized bowl for the mixture. "Let's see how the chef starts his mornings!" Her golden eyes were full of laughter as she moved to get some eggs from the fridge. Everything was well-stocked . . . as promised to them by the government. It was almost strange to think that someone had gone shopping for them. Alice moved to help bring out other ingredients, rushing the recipe along so they could eat soon. "Feel like exploring outside today?" she asked, setting a few egg shells aside. Her playful glance to Andrew showed that she was hoping he wouldn't mind her company. She had a feeling he wouldn't, but one could never be too sure.
- Gideon wasn't reassured that Scarlett felt fine, but he let the subject drop. She struck him as a tough girl. The tall male took the lead as they headed for the kitchen in sudden silence. It was a good two minutes before Gideon acknowledged that she'd spoken. "I'll let you know if I want to be alone." From there he glanced at her, his brown eyes flitting over her face. He blushed again - that silly blush kept returning - and looked toward the doorway. "Smells like they're already up." |
When he blushed, the blonde blushed. "Sounds like a plan." She said, a small smile showing on her full lips. Her eyes glanced at his before looking at her brother and Alice flirting in the kitchen. "Good morning." She said, the powder on her face making it glow. Scarlett was naturally pretty, so the make up just added on to the effect.
She ran her hand aimlessly through her hair, letting it slowly fall back into place as she looked at the scene before her. "Good morning you two. How'd you sleep? I know I slept wonderfully in that huge comfy bed." She smiled, opened the fridge to the side and grabbing a bottle of water. She shut the fridge and leaned against the cabinet, cracking open the lid and taking a sip. "Mmm." She said, looking at everyone. "OOh cake for dinner? Sounds yummy." "Sure, I'd like to see a bit of the land." He said, sending a grin in Alice's direction. When his sister came in his green eyes looked her over. She looked like she was glowing.."Hey, can I talk to you real quick Gideon?" He asked, bending backwards a little to crack his back. He stepped over towards Gideon, standing by his sister for a moment. "I slept fine. Plus I slept in my own bed." He said, his tone a little cold towards her. |
Gideon let go of Scarlett's hand when the entered the kitchen. He kept a good distance from the others . . . and when Andrew asked to speak with him he almost hesitate. Nodding once, the tall youth stayed where he was near the edge of the kitchen limits. He sent a wary glance in Alice's direction before looking to Scarlett's brother.
Andrew's cold tone made a frown mar Gideon's brow, but he kept quiet. From where she was pouring the omelet mixture into a frying pan, Alice sent a glance over to Gideon that spoke more than a thousand words. The young woman smiled slightly at Scarlett before turning her full attention to the food she was cooking. "Good morning," she replied to Scarlett, but didn't initiate any further conversation. She was more interested in listening to what the boys were talking about. |
Andrew led Gideon into the room outside the kitchen and then shut the double doors to the kitchen behind them. "Did you have sex with my sister?" He asked, his eyes in a glare as he spoke. "I know she looks like one of those girls, but she's not the type to sleep with someone she just met. She's just in a bad place right now. So if I ever even see your hands on her hips.. your dead. You kiss her, your dead. You have sex with her, I'll rip something off and then kill you. Got it?" He asked, a small smirk on his thin lips. "Only ones in this house flirting should be me and Alice. My sisters a bad person, don't get caught up with her." He warned, his tone had been quiet.
Scarlett nodded. "Morning." |
The blunt question made Gideon blink in surprise. Shaking his head, he listened to Andrew's threats with a stoic expression on his features. "Nothing happened," the tall youth said, keeping his tone even and gaze steady. The warning that the other male gave him didn't change anything - he wasn't going to just ditch Scarlett because her brother didn't approve. The only thing this changed was their appearance - they'd have to be careful.
He had no doubt that Andrew would tear him to pieces if he got involved with Scarlett. Gideon finally pulled his eyes away from Andrew with a strange expression. He wasn't about to mention what had really happened that night. Instead of speaking further, he fell silent. Dark eyes avoiding Andrew's face, Gideon thought over what to say. What could he say? He enjoyed Scarlett's gentle company and wasn't about to just ignore the only person he'd spoken to freely. |
Scarlett rolled her eyes at Andrew. "You don't control me! I'll like whoever I wish to brother. I don't yell at Alice for sleeping in your bed with you now do I?" She asked, sighing. She went over to Gideon and took his hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Andrew leave my business alone and i'll leave yours." She said, slightly coldly.
Andrew glared at his sister. "Fine, but next time one of your pothead boyfriends takes a swing at you don't expect me to be there when you need me." He growled. |
Gideon was glad that Scarlett intervened and moved to take his hand. The youth shot a glance to Andrew before warily looking to Alice as well. The young woman suddenly became very interested in her omelet flipping. Gideon frowned as he pulled Scarlett toward the bar where they could sit side by side. "He's just trying to keep you safe," he said quietly, glancing to Andrew but choosing to leave his hand linked with Scarlett's. The warning was clear: don't do something stupid.
Honestly, Gideon had no intention of letting something happen. It wasn't . . . smart. It wasn't polite, either. The dark-haired youth sighed, looking (for the briefest of moments) like he'd rather be elsewhere. Alice's golden gaze lingered on the two males while the spoke quietly, and looked away when Scarlett interjected. As they all moved closer, she started divvying out their breakfast onto plates. Her smile was bright as she handed Andrew his, and then Scarlett hers. "They taste better than what some people make back home." Trying to brighten the mood again, she took her own plate. Gideon took a moment to wonder if Alice had forgotten him on purpose before standing and heading over to grab his plate from the counter. He didn't sit down beside Scarlett again, but stayed standing a few feet away. He never was one to be comfortable around people. "We should do something as a group today," Alice said, glancing from Andrew to Scarlett. Once again, she didn't seem to be including Gideon (at least, not directly). "We should see if there's anything interesting in the attic. Old rooms and closets, too." The previous night was on her mind, and she was trying to tell herself that she'd seen a stray cat instead of some freakish child clawing its way across the floor. Shivering absently, Alice shook dark hair from her face. "It would be nice to hang out together, don't you think?" |
[COLOR="Teal"]Scarlett took her plate. "Thank you Alice, it looks wonderful. And I think all of us spending time together today would be a good thing." She said, smiling. She sat at the bar, watching as Gideon dropped her hand and went to get his food. The blonde sighed a long sigh and looked to her brother before trailing her green eyes back to her food.
Her right hand went for her fork, and she began to take a bite. At the first bite her taste buds were overjoyed with how good the omelet actually was. "Mmm." She said, closing her eyes to enjoy the delicious, savory food. She continued to eat even as her brother sat next to her. But when he brother brought up that they should all go swimming later she gulped. "Why? It's a little chilly.." She said, lying through her teeth since this was one of the warmest fall days there had been in the past two weeks.[/COLOR Andrew sat down by his sister, taking a bite of his food. "This is amazing Alice. You should be a cook." He winked, taking another bite. "That sounds cool. Then we should all go swimming later. What do you guys think?" He asked, raising his left eyebrow and then leaning back in his bar stool a little. |
((:XD I'm sorry for not posting. Can you remind me to do so when you get online? I'm far too busy today . . . and I just don't have the attention span! :headdesk:))
|
"I wouldn't be much of a cook without someone making the food before I cooked it." The pale girl winked before settling into a seat at the bar.
Alice nodded, smiling when Andrew brought up swimming. "It's quite warm out today, really." Just as she stated as much Scarlett said something about it being cold. There was a short silence before Alice turned her gaze to her own food, shifting in her stool beside Andrew. Gideon said nothing. Something in his eyes showed that swimming was a bad idea - and both he and Scarlett knew that she would be in extreme pain if she chose to get into the pool. There would be no hiding her cuts and wounds when they got in the water. The tall male frowned, focusing on his food as he stood near Scarlett. |
Scarlett started to eat her food, looking over at Gideon wearily. " I'm not feeling too great anyways. I'll probably just sit out while the rest of you go swimming." She said, giving a small smile and continuing to eat her food. If she got in the pool all her cuts would be exposed, and she'd be in so much pain. She winced at the thought and stood up. "I'm done. Thanks Alice, it was wonderful." She said, going over and putting the food she didn't finish on her brothers plate. The blonde then looked at Gideon. "I'll be in the library." She said, turning and leaving the kitchen. She was determined to find something about this house. She had to figure out why these weird things were happening.
Andrew shrugged when his sister left. "Bye." He said, then glanced to Alice. "Yeah, it's perfect for swimming." He said, flashing his pearly whites at her. He then looked over at Gideon, his eyes showing him the dangers of being with his sister. Andrew ran his hand through his blonde hair, sitting back in his stool and glancing at the beautiful Alice. |
The pale youth smiled slightly at Scarlett as she left the room. That girl could hold his attention for hours and she didn't even have to do anything. He brushed dark hair from his face before glancing in the direction of the other couple.
Gideon caught Andrew's warning look, but he didn't react. Instead he merely sat in the stool where Scarlett had been so he could finish his food. I've already made my decision. The introvert then ignored the other two, eating slowly (as he always did) despite his discomfort of being around so many people. - The smile sent her way made Alice grin in return. "I'll go change," she said, lifting her empty plate into the sink. "I'll see you in a few, Andrew." She left swiftly, glancing back to wave at the boy before disappearing completely. |
Andrew stood up after finishing his food. "I'm going to go change as well. Gideon, if you know what's best for you you'll have my sister outside by the pool in twenty." He said, putting his plate in the sink and then going out of the room. He went upstairs to his room and changed into his black and blue trunks, looking at himself in the mirror.
Scarlett was up on the ladder, looking at a row of books up on the sixth shelf. She sang softly, her voice flowing through the halls with the wind from the open windows. Her voice sounded soft in the other rooms. She skimmed over the books, wondering what else she and Gideon could do today. |
Gideon didn't even acknowledge that he'd heard Andrew. Instead, the dark-haired male merely finished his food and moved toward the sink. He took a moment to breathe deeply now that he was alone. As his eyes slipped closed, he heard something scrabbling on the floor nearby. The feeling that the noise might be linked to the previous night made his eyes dart toward the noise, but it was too late. Whatever had made the sound was gone.
Feeling a bit shaken, Gideon stepped toward the hallway, casting glances over his shoulder. What was it? What was it that had bothered them? What had hurt Scarlett, and why? Shuddering, he found himself caught in the sound of a soft voice. The delicate sound led him toward Scarlett in the library, where she leaned against the ladder and seemed caught up in a song. Listening for a while, Gideon finally stepped into the room. Moving to look up at the young woman, his brown eyes filled with a smile that never reached his face. "The others are going to swim," he said, never mentioning that Andrew had practically ordered them to come. - Alice stretched, finally managing to get a kink out of her neck. With a happy sigh, she snagged her dark towel and glanced at herself in the mirror one last time. Just as she turned away, something made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end. 'Don't go.' Spinning about, she let out a yelp. Something in the mirror's reflection had moved. It scurried across the floor like an animal . . . and the reflection was showing the area near Alice's bare feet. Jumping away from the place she'd been standing, Alice found that she was quite alone . . . and nothing was running around in her room. Unsettled, she moved toward the door and slammed it closed behind her. Like a child running toward their bed when the light's went out, she moved toward the pool. She stopped by Andrew's room and knocked, trying not to sound desperate as she tried to banish the thoughts of the night from her head. "Ready, Tiger?" |
Alex once again ran his hands through his blonde hair. "Don't you look gorgeous?" He smirked. That's when his eyes caught something move behind him. he turned abruptly and glanced around. He turned back to the mirror, swearing under his breath, only to be shocked with another surprise. On the mirror, in big scratched letters were the words: We won't let her leave again.
His eyes widened, running to the mirror and putting his hands over the scratch marks. Yet he felt no cracks, bumps, or anything. The scratches had come from inside the mirror. He ran towards his door at Alice's words. "Y-Yeah. C-come look at this." He said, tugging her arm and pulling her into his room. He pointed to the mirror that still clearly shown those awful words. "What the hell's up with this place?" He asked, looking over at her. Scarlett blushed when she realized he had heard her singing. She slid down the ladder and ended up n front of Gideon. With a soft, but devilish smile she took his hands. "Well, they may be going swimming.. but were not going to attend." She said, her green eyes sparkling as she looked at his brown ones. "Unless of course you'd like to swim. Though I don't think I should. The chlorine is bound to sting my cuts." She said, grimacing at the thought. She released his hands and turned towards the books on the bottom row of shelves she had picked. "Here's some about the house. Like when it was built, who lived here. But nothing about any creepy things happening here. That's probably why the government has kept this house secret for so long." She said, looking back at the handsome Gideon that stood by her. Her eyes narrowed as she tried to piece this puzzle together. But nothing came to mind. "Oh Gideon, This is all so confusing! Whatever did this to me must've died here or was brought here.. but there's so little information about this home. It makes me wonder why?" She asked softly, her voice trailing off. "The basement! What if theres stuff stored in the basement or the attic about the family that lived here!" She grinned. |
"I don't know," she mouthed, staring at the etched words in horror. "But I think I know why they are paying us to stay here." The woman shuddered, and then tried to focus on his earlier words. "Andrew," she whispered, tearing her eyes away from the glass, "I think we should try to call someone. We can't live here. Not like this." Shivering, the dark-haired woman didn't bother prying her fingers off of her friend's arm.
Fear darkened her golden eyes, and she shivered once again. "I don't like it." - When Scarlett stepped down to the floor before him, Gideon met her gaze steadily. It was when she took his hands that his face heated . . . and he nodded to agree with her words. It wasn't truly an option to go to the pool. They both knew that Scarlet's wounds would be too obvious and too painful for her to do any such thing. "You've been busy," Gideon muttered, watching as Scarlett turned away from him and regarded some books about the house. His face slowly returned to a normal temperature, though he found himself standing much closer to Scarlett than he would have dared. Gideon's fingertips brushed her arm as Scarlett thought and spoke softly. It took a bit of effort for the boy to recall what she was saying. "There was a stairway at the end of the hall," he offered, knowing that there were two of them. One went up to the attic while the other dove beneath the home. Both were bound to be old and dark. "We should get some flashlights." It felt a little like walking into a creatures den, but Gideon shook the thought off . . . for the moment. "Anything else we should bring?" He planned on stopping by his room and finding a weapon or two. There was no way he was going to walk into whatever had harmed Scarlett without something to destroy it. |
Scarlett's cheeks reddened when she noticed him do the same. She gave a small smile, setting the books back on the shelf. She took his hand, laced it in hers and then started to walk towards the doorway so that they could go to their rooms. "There's a flashlight in my suitcase. I'll grab it real quick. But maybe we should have some sort of weapon just in case there's something dangerous in the cellar or attic." She said, skipping quickly up the steps, happy that Gideon could keep up. Once upstairs she released his hand and went into her room to grab the flashlight. She fell to the floor, looking under her bed for her black and grey flower suitcase and then pulling it out from under the bed. She unzipped it, finding her bright red flashlight and then standing up, putting the flash light band around her wrist. She kicked her suitcase back under her bed and then went out of her room, gently shutting the door and going into Gideons room to wait for him.
Andrew nodded and ran to the phone in his room, picking it up and putting it to his ear. "There's no dial tone." He gulped. He went into his nightstand drawer and pulled out his phone, flipping it open. "No service.." He sighed, swearing under his breath again. "I don't think they want us to leave." |
"Good idea." Gideon was smiling at Scarlett's back when she pulled him up the stairs. It was a bold move . . . especially for a female. His expression returned to its usual stoicism when she mentioned getting a flashlight. They headed to their rooms to gather supplies. When Scarlett appeared in his doorway, the dark-haired male had just tucked something into his pocket.
"Ready?" he asked, grabbing his own flashlight. The dull metal was cold, and far heavier than the object he'd fit into his pocket. Luckily guys have far larger pockets than girls. . . . "We shouldn't be up there when night falls," Gideon suggested. At his heel, Tali (his black cat) let out a mechanical squeak. He didn't bother pushing her away as she plodded along after them. He led the way toward the staircase, and looked at the two stairways warily. "Up or down?" Tali, apparently, already had her mind made up. She started up the right-hand staircase that led to the attic. With a tight smile, Gideon followed. "We have seven hours." Then the sun would set. Reaching out to open the door, Gideon's brown eyes narrowed. It was dark, as expected, and a bit cold. Flicking his flashlight on, he glanced about quickly as though expecting trouble. Nothing was there, save dusty shelves and hidden furniture. Chests and books lined the floors and walls, and a boarded-up window was on the far wall. The floor creaked as he stepped forward, looking around again. "Where should we start?" - Alice's golden eyes widened. "Maybe the phone line is down." She glanced toward the mirror once again, shivering as she thought of what she'd seen the night before. In all the horror movies, this was where people started dying off because they did stupid things. "What should we do?" The pale woman moved close to Andrew once again, thinking that his size and warmth would help keep her mind off of what may or may not be happening. What if it was all just paranoia? |
Scarlett smirked when Tali went up the steps, but her expression grew blank by the time she was at the top of the stairs behind Gideon. The attic's appearance instantly chilled her, and though she felt the need to grab onto Gideon she forced herself not to. She gulped. "U-um.. I guess just look at everything possible. I'll check all the trunks, and old suitcases." She said, stepping into the attic despite the loud creaks. This house was so old that the attic was bound to have something informational in it. She went forward, heading over to a small red trunk with the initials H.L. written across it in black cursive letters. The color was faded, but you could make out that it was a crimson red with black roses all over it. She gently unlatched the lid and opened it to find the most fanciest clothes she'd ever seen. Inside were old black and white photos, pearls, post cards, letters, and a marriage certificate to a Troy Foxworth. "I think I found a few things about the owners!" She said excitedly. She opened a letter that was directed to a Heaven Leigh. "Apparently a couple named Heaven Leigh and Troy Foxworth lived here. And they got married.." She said, reading the letter. "And were supposed to have a baby. But it was miscarried a month after their marriage." She said, frowning.
He gave Alice a hug and sighed. "I'm not sure. I suggest we pack our things and leave in the morning if anything happens tonight. "Maybe we should stay... I mean there willing to give use 5 thousand dollars to stay here.. And I really need the money.." |
When Scarlett started looking at the chest, Gideon lifted a dusty picture frame from a shelf. The pictures were faded and worn with age, and there were two people that he assumed were the previous owners of the estate. "This must be them," he muttered when he heard Scarlett. Taking the rusty frame with a picture of the couple, he showed it to Scarlett. "No one has lived here for a long while."
Despite his antisocial manner, Gideon seemed to open up a bit while they were distracted. If anything, he seemed to enjoy the darkness that surrounded them. He fingered his flashlight as he thought of what it must have been like in the house before the first owners moved out. "That's too bad," he said, frowning at the knowledge they gained. His eyes moved on to the next shelf. He reached out to get Tali off of a box, placing her on his shoulder instead. The black feline purred, her saucer-like eyes never leaving the box. Gideon ignored it . . . at first. He then moved to pull the container down to the floor, carefully setting it before him. With one hand holding the flashlight, he managed to get the box open. It was full of dusty objects that were obviously old. "They were looking forward to having a child," Valentine muttered, reaching in to lift out a small stuffed animal. The instant his hand touched the coarse fur, he felt his mind slip away. Sitting frozen, he observed many images that both frightened and intrigued him. He saw the house, long after the family had left. Darkness . . . . and then light. Red, bright red. The feeling of something tearing under his fingertips. The sight of a sleeping Scarlett . . . and blood seeping through the blankets around her. Then . . . elation. Almost pleasure at the pain Scarlett suffered. Sucking in a quiet breath, Gideon's hand fell away from the toy. Confused, he found that it was difficult to regain his bearings. Glancing about, he found that his flashlight had fallen from his grasp and was now sitting a few feet away. As he numbly reached for it, he found himself face-to-face with something from the realm of nightmares. Jerking his hand back as though burned, Valentine drew the weapon from his pocket. It was a small handgun, safety flicked off and ready to fire. But when he looked back, there was nothing there. Perhaps nothing had ever been there. ((Just to clarify: nothing was actually there.)) - "I can get money," Alice said, sounding almost desperate now. "That isn't a problem. I can wire some money over to you. I don't . . ." She paused, staring at the mirror. She'd been enjoying the hug, but suddenly stiffened. Pushing away from Andrew, she reached out to touch the surface of the mirror gently. "There's a child," she whispered, straining to see through the blurry glass. It wasn't blurry before, was it? "I can't see it very well." |
