- Personally, I've always listened to music that my sisters and dad would listen to. When I was little, like three and four and five, they would be playing music around me and I would hear it and I would like it. That's how I know the old Green Day stuff, well that's how I knew it in the first place, anyway. That's also how I came to know a whole lot of the Beatles, too, and later, the Clash, the Who, Led Zeppelin, Nine Inch Nails... and a select group of others. When I started getting into music for myself, I still heard a lot of the stuff my older sister would listen to (now that the other one was out of the picture; in another state, her tastes were different and kind of strayed from mine). I'd say my tastes are most closely related to hers. Occasionally I'll still listen to the radio, and that will help to introduce me to new stuff, and also, I'll find out what other bands the bands I listen to like. Some of the stuff I've gotten into, it's been because of Green Day mentioning them or something. I don't get into everything they mention, of course, but it perks my awareness for them, or what's on Billie's label, maybe. Another thing is my friend. She's the reason I bought "In Your Honor" and I really like that, from the Foo Fighters, and she's also introduced me to some stuff from older groups that I wouldn't have otherwise really listened to, like Johnny Cash or Buddy Holly. I would have known them but not really paid attention, but now I do. And... that's about it .
