I live in downtown T.O. and I see this kind of stuff everyday.

It's sad. It's disgusting. In the end however, it's no different from a bully in a schoolyard picking on a victim. Bullies will be bullies, and victims quite often never stand up themselves. You can blame it on how they were raised, lack of authority or whatnot.

I once watched a woman covered in quilts watch as her cardboard 'home' got kicked and flattened by a few drunk 20-something guys. I was on the streetcar, there wasn't anything I could personally do. I had to watch the whole thing through the window. The man I was standing next to me. He made a comment. "Shameful..." or something like that.

Unless someone is prepared to intervene ... this stuff will continue to happen.

Kids are jerks these days...
