I mostly see the PCSOs rather than actual police though sometimes the PCSOs are accompanied by an actual officer. Plus I see them every time I'm waiting for my fiance in town because they've got a mobile unit opposite my bus stop because of the level of crime in the city centre. I think it's good there are more police around actually doing their job for once.
My mum's car got broke into at work years ago when I was in high school. She got a letter the other year, five years later, saying they'd caught the person and the charge was being added to his new crimes and he was being ordered to pay her compensation. She got another letter a few months ago saying he'd been caught for another offence again and they were adding him failing to pay to his charges but if he actually goes to prison he doesn't have to pay her anything.
