Really? I've read some. My favorite type of Romance novels are ones in a Victorian setting. In fact, one of my favorite authors is Victoria Holt. They're romance novels with mystery and adventure rather than the other way around =3. So I suppose in that sense you're right. There is no such thing as a pure romance novel unless it's smut. In which case, it need never be published let alone be considered a novel. I mean, even if it's something simple like a Boy meets Girl type of book, there is bound to be Comedy.
