Alana watched these other people with a straight face. She waved the waitress away with a flick of her hand. She wouldnt eat at an inn if she was starving. She watched the others interact with interest although not saying a word herself. She was wondering what made them so comfortable around each other. Why had they all met? What made her invite them to her house? She had never done anything like that before. It was all so strange.

She remembered her childhood. Humans never did like an elf child. She never had any friends. She wished she could have been more open as a child. Maybe it would have made her a more open adult.

"Alana come here." Said Jennifer the most popular girl in school. "I want to give you an invitation to my slumber party."

Alana walked over with a smile. The most popular girl in school wanted to hang out with her. Wow. "Thanks Jen." She took the invitation and opened it. Suddenly she realized what had happened. It was horse manure. It splattered all over her. She ran to the river crying. She didnt have parents to comfort her. She bathed herself in the river. It was cool and comfortable. The next day she dropped out of school. She knew what she needed to do. She got the bow and arrow that used to be her mothers and began to spend days at a time practising nonstop. She waited outside the school building a month later. She had her bow and arrow aimed and then fired. It was a flaming arrow and it brushed against Jennifers favorite dress she was wearing. Jennifer ran around in circles crying. The next day she died for the damage from the fire was to great for any healer. Alana had done it. She had gotten her calling. She would get revenge for others. She was Alana Vartos the assassin.
