it's not always bad to be assertive. if you want to go to homecoming with someone, maybe consider just asking him. if you're too shy, that's okay--but if you really like a guy and want to date them, it's sometimes best to talk to them straight out instead of just flirting, especially if you're a naturally soft-spoken person.

all in all, don't change yourself in order to get guys. that's about the worst thing you could do; you may end up becoming someone you don't like. and no relationship is worth that.
