That was worth every second spent reading the post. I lol'd so much that I couldn't breathe for a while there.
I agree with absolutely EVERYTHING you said, and I've only been working in retail since July. I've experienced everything you mentioned. I work at a department store (coughKOHLScough) that has it set in stone that the customer is always right. That's our YES WE CAN! policy.
"Hey, I have this coupon, but it expired six months ago, can I use it?"
"Yes you can!"
"Hey, I wore these underwear at work last night coughONTHESTREETScough. Can I return them?"
"Yes you can! -full refund, damage'd out, loss of money ensues-"
"Hey, this coupon isn't good until a month from now.. Can I use it?"
"Yes you can!"
"Hey, I saw this priced as 5.99, but it's ringing up as 105.99. Can you change it for me?"
"Yes I can!"
Now, mind you, I slightly exaggerated some of it, but it's just OUTRAGEOUS some of the things these people ask! Sometimes it's innocent, and they really are sincere with their question, but if you've seen them in the store a million times before, you KNOW they know the answer.
There's one customer in particular that I glare at every time I see her. The first time I saw her we had Early Bird specials, which was something like an extra 20% off merchandise before 1 o'clock. Well she was in line at 12:55 or some shit, and the woman ahead of her took FOREVER for me to ring up. Well when she came around, with more than $1000 worth of shit in her cart, it was five past. Despite the fact that I told her that I could have someone come with an RF gun and give her the extra percentage off, she insisted on unloading more than half of her crap on my counter and bitching the crap out of me until my manager came.
But she actually liked me then. She told my manager I was sweet. :D
Well the next time I saw her, she had much less (thank god!), but she wanted me to check the price on some perfume. I checked it, and it wasn't what she thought. Oh BOY was she angry about that. She told me to take it off, and I continued ringing up.. Well she was using her credit card, and, as policy states, I asked to see her ID.. OH LORD, HOW THE HELL COULD I DO THAT? She was so pissed off because I asked her! "I HAVE NEVER BEEN ASKED TO SEE MY ID, THIS IS RIDICULOUS. JUST RUN IT AS DEBIT. THAT'S RIDICULOUS." I appologized, and she got mad about that too. "YOU ARENT SORRY." She wrote down my name to complain to corporate -- whoopdie-fucking-do -- and left without her receipt.
It was then I realized that I had never taken off either of the 50-dollar perfumes, so she was charged for them.
Did I feel bad? Hell no. I actually was happy as a clam. Get your credit card stolen, dumb bitch.
I'VE HAD MULTIPLE PEOPLE THANK ME FOR ASKING TO SEE IT. -__-
Well, my most recent experience with this woman didn't involve me ringing her up. She had a tank that didn't have a price, and it was in our Limited section. It was the last one. So, I went and got something similar. I decided to be nice to her and got the cheapest one we had, even though it had a bit of lace on the front and the one she wanted didn't. I went to give it to the cashier -- who, also, is the biggest bitch I've ever worked with and dislikes me for absolutely no reason -- and the woman got angry and called me stupid. I told her we just needed something similar, and she rolled her eyes and told the cashier to forget it. I should have gotten her the more expensive one, I realized, because it looked so much closer.
Oh boy. I'm done. xD I had to work tonight -- FCKING HOLIDAY HOURS ALREADY. Thank the lord I don't believe in that I'm a minor though~ whoop.
Oh. and btw.. do you remember how much you got for posting that? xD
