Where are you living? I see people persecuted every day for being non-christians. Then again I live in the south...
Regardless I feel the statement is probably on the money. We are still a very religious civilization, until humans evolve past the concept of religion it will always be that way and people that don't conform will always be shunned.
Then again down here in the south half the white population still thinks blacks should ride in the back of the bus. :3
I feel a lot of religious people tend to use their views as an excuse to be prejudice or what not.
