Isis watched the pale, sickly doll slip out of the window and into the yard. She felt a little uneasy about her, yet if Mother trusted her enough to send her to them, then that would have to do. She turned to Lost when he had a sudden fit if coughs. His voice was back to its usually rough tone. "Who are the Outsiders?" she asked after he mentioned them. Isis felt more confused than she could ever remember feeling. She followed lost as he headed out of her room and then out the front door.
She gasped when the pale doll slipped through the bars of the fence and stood on the other side waiting. Mother told them to never leave. They would become lifeless if they crossed the barrier surrounding the house. Isis grabbed his hand as Lost headed for the fence. If it was a dirty trick, he would be forever a lifeless doll. Isis didn't know if she would be able to handle that. Holding her breath as he sqeezed through the hole, Isis watched him. She had expected him to fall to the ground, but when he didn't she let out a sigh of relief. So many things ran through her mind as Lost reached out to her. What if the spell only worked for one of them? What if she became a lifeless doll? Shaking these thoughts from her head, Isis took a deep breath and closed her eyes tightly as she passed through the border. Lost was right. She needed them.
