Some of the books I recommend at my Bookstore I work at for the Vampire Genre.
Amelia Atwater-rhodes- very well set books characters are about high school age. Amazingly written when the author was 15 now she is 22 i believe. Most of them are short story except her snake and hawk series which I believe is going on 9 books. Worth your time to read.
Laurell K. Hamilton- First 4 are really good mystery/ Buffy after about the 5th one it gets a little....hhhhmmmmm erotic would be the word I guess. ;) read the first four if you like go on to the others just knowing there not quite the same as what you first read.
Patricia Briggs- werewolves that raised a native american shape shifter who then leaves to move to the tri-states. Becomes a mechanic and get involved with the vampires, faerie, and of course werewolf pack for the tri-state area. The vampires in her book are for the most part from Spain and very old world.... except for one who dresses like shaggy and drives the mystery machine that Mercy is fixing. :) A FANTASTIC READ!!!!!!! I loved this series and whipped through it in like two nights. Very witty and well written.
J.R. Ward- Amazing!
Sookie stackhouse.....um authors last name is Harris can't remember the first lol. It has been made into a t.v. series. still an excellent read especially if you like the south. i.e. louisianna :)
Kim Harrison- another good one
Dakota Banks- First time author her new book is called "Dark Times" not really a vampire one but still really amazing. Starts at the salem witch burning time period where a girl being burned at the stake makes a deal with one of the children of the old gods of babylon. :) Not a good god but turns out to be one of the powerful 9 siblings that are basically demons. Starts out great middle is good ending she leaves you screaming at her wanting the second book cause the first is a cliff hanger.... >.< second book not out till fall probably....grrrr.
Thats all I can remember at this moment. :) Hope it helps.
