Alex looked up from the book he was poring over as soon as his servant opened the door. Standing, he smiled at Nina and Master, bowing to them in greeting before taking Nina's hand and kissing it. "Welcome to my home, friends."
The young vampire smelled of paper and various spices, which seemed to be the scent that one could relate to everything in the house. Alexander gingerly kept hold of Nina's hand while he spoke to her father. "This is your daughter?" he asked, pushing his glasses back up his face and keeping a smile on his pale face. "She's quite the beauty."
Master chuckled, and nodded.

Justice shook his head, glancing up at the ghost. "If someone told you to let the only thing in your life that mattered slip away, would you do it?" The Xa'Thian flickered his black wings, his sullen gaze drifting to the ground far below him. "I love her. I don't want her to leave . . . but she isn't mine to claim. I can't have her."
