It was completely dark in the house now, but Riki didn't feel that turning on the light would be good. "Attention is bad.." she mumbled, hugging her knees tighter. She got a creepy feeling sitting here in the dark. It was quiet inside and the sounds of others talking were heavily dampened by the fog and walls.
Sitting so quietly, it was impossible to miss the sudden grumbling that came from her stomach. She kicked her legs out and looked at her belly, prodding it with her fingers. "Hungry?" she asked it, receiving another short gurgle in response. "Riki wonders...where the food is?" she continued asking her stomach, getting more gurgly replies. "Well, then...that means is food time!" she said with a happier tone and shot up from her sitting position. She walked across the dark room in hopes she would find the kitchen.
She bumped into the wall with a small oof, and continued to feel her way around the perimeter of the room. Her fingers felt twitchy as she inched along, but her stomach's protests felt stronger. "When was last food?" she mused, reaching out her hand. But instead of reaching a wall, it touched something much more...fleshy. She pulled her hand back quickly and darted back in the direction she'd traveled from.
Riki bumped back into the door and found the light switch. The room was suddenly flooded with color...and zombies. "Why are here?" she asked them, her hand reaching backward for the sword. They hadn't been there before. "Upstairs?" she asked as they slowly moved closer. "Safe...?" she asked, almost begging them.
But she couldn't communicate with the dead. They were lifeless, mindless beings that fed off those who had what they lacked. She tightened her grip on the sword and unsheathed it, swinging it over her head with both hands and slicing through the zombie's skull. She pulled it out and swung at another and another, slicing them in half or cutting off limbs. As the last one fell, she let out a frustrated scream and started hacking away at the bodies. "DIEEE!"
