Rue stopped under a tree, taking in the silence. She didn't like it, she preferred music and noise. It was what she had grown up with. The woods used to be filled with it; they had also been safe. She sat down next to the tree and exhaled loudly. She could hear birds in the distance and began to whistle to the birds. They fluttered down around her and sang with her. She held out her hand and one landed in it, the feathers tickling her palm, making her giggle.
