Pit... pat... pit... pat... Charlie awoke to the sound of mice dancing in the walls, scurrying about like squirrels on crack. With large blue eyes, Charlie glanced around at her surroundings. As the confusion began to edge away, realization hit her like a two ton boulder. Instinct kicked in and she jumped up, eyes instantly searching for her brother, Khris. She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw his small, thin body curled up on the wooden floor. She darted over to him, her lean, athletic body making it easier for her to move quickly. Without making a peep of noise, she shook her little brother harshly. When he moaned, she covered his mouth and shook him again. "Wake up!" She whisper yelled. His eyes popped open and Charlie, who was dressed in bright purple skinny jeans and a gray Push Play band tee shirt on, yanked him to the side and out of the room, leaning against the wall of a hallway. "Don't make a sound," she said, barely audible. She pulled her long crimson hair into a swishing pony tail and began to silently glide down the hallway.
Khris awoke to his sister shaking him like a rag doll, and he growled under his breath at her. Looking around at the musky smelling, and dust filled room, he felt like he was in a dream. He flopped over and tried to go back to sleep, but Charlie was relentless. Groaning, his eyes snapped back open to see his sister leaning right over his face. He stood up, almost white blonde hair falling across his face as his own baby blue eyes surveyed the room. Soon enough he was yanked out of the room and into the hall, then pushed against the wall. He knew his sister wasn't trying to be rough, but he glared at her angrily anyways. He continued to follow her along, hoping to God, if there was one, that no one would see them. He heard a small flutter of foot steps and a whisper of voices and stopped in his tracks, catching his breath and glancing around anxiously. A small breeze tickled his arms, he was wearing a dark blue and black striped shirt and black jeans, and he hurried after his older sister.
