If you feel like you've done everything you possibly can, including telling him face to face something like "We are only friends and nothing more. You need to stop sending me letters and bothering me constantly." and he still won't leave you alone, I would talk to your parents about it. I know that may seem like you're being a tattle-tale, but if he will not stop bothering you, perhaps your parents can talk to his parents about it or something. Listen to your intuition. If you're getting bad vibes from him, continue to stay away, make all your social networks private or friends-only, or delete them (as horrible as that might be).
