Oh, jeez... I would not be able to clean that up! The only way I'm able to scoop out my cat's litter box is by knowing it'll only get smellier.
I don't think I've actually ever experienced something like that, though. But a few years ago, when my mom lived near the mountains, we had a rat or something in the kitchen and a neighbor came over to "take care of it". The idiot shot it while it hid under the stove.
