The door squeaked quietly as William entered the common room. He paused and took off his hat as his eyes adjusted to reveal a large but mostly vacant room. From his peripheral, he noticed the proprietor cleaning up. "Evening, Jennifer," he said, the deep, dulcet melody of his voice gently breaking the silence. "It's a nice night out tonight." He turned his eyes her direction, glancing momentarily at Edgar, and took her in. She wasn't unattractive, by any means, but he was always a little put off by her snake.
