Kaladin just chuckled. "But if everyone was as cold hearted as you thought them to be, there wouldn't be any socially active places like this, would there?" Kaladin tore off a piece of the meat that he had offered, seeing that the stranger made no move for it. He put it it in his mouth, and quietly chewed, and swallowed.
"Now that the world has changed, it shouldn't mean all civilization should. Some are just...scared." His eyes grew soft as they set on the table, his mind wandering off again to somewhere distant.
But the moment quickly past, and he looked up at the stranger
"You just have to make the first move sometimes," Kaladin said, popping the rest of the bland meat into his mouth. He pushed the plate of remaining food to the older man.
"And maybe they won't be as afraid anymore."
