A lullaby. Often sang by mothers to their children. Such sweet and tender songs. Yet no all lullabies are peaceful. Some can bring horror and terror. Despite covering your ears you can not avert this lullaby:Hypno's Lullaby...

Quote:
“Come little children, come with me
Safe and happy, you will be
Away from you’re homes, now let us run
With Hypno, you’ll have so much fun

Oh, little children, please don’t cry
Hypno wouldn’t hurt a fly
Be free, be free, be free, to play
Come down in my cave with me to stay

Oh little children, please don’t squirm
Those ropes, I know, will hold you firm
Hypno tells you this is true
But sadly, Hypno lied to you

Oh little children, you musn’t leave
Your families for you will grieve
Their minds will unravel at the seams
Allowing me to haunt their dreams

But surely, all of you must know
That it is time for you to go
Oh little children, you weren’t clever
Now you shall stay with me forever.”
End of poem...

We love to see mysterious places. Some can even move from place to place. A silly thought yet maybe there is something behind it. Maybe it is best we don't visit such places. Places such as mysterious islands. Or one big island known as Mirage Island...

Quote:
“I can’t see mirage island today…” The old man sighed as he turned back towards the window. I bowed my head in disappointment, and trailed out the door. I walked down the steps from his home and towards the Pokemon Centre of Pacifidlog Town. I pulled out a pokeball and let Zangoose, my favorite pokemon and best friend, out. He walked beside me and I patted his head and he grinned in delight. “It’s just not fair Zangy!” I wailed. He groaned and snuggled into me to offer me comfort. Ever since I was little, I was told stories about the legendary Island, and since I was always a curious traveller, I had wanted to go for years. Every day since I first visited Pacifidlog town, I had asked the man if he could see mirage island. And every single day, it had been the same answer, I was beginning to give up hope.

I wanted to catch a Wynaut, as crazy as that sounds, because they’re not that amazing, but I’ve always been curious about the odd creatures, and the supposedly amazing berries that inhibited the island. I put Zangy back into his pokeball, let out my Swellow, and he flew us back to New Bark Town, since I hadn’t visited my mom in awhile. “Mom?” I called as i walked inside the house. “SWEETIE!” My mom flew down the stairs and enveloped me in a hug. “Oh honey, I’ve missed you so much.” My cheeks flushed red. “Naw mom!” She pulled back and I let all my pokemon out. My Zangy, Swellow, Blaziken, Ludicolo, Altaria, and Electrike. Mom looked delighted and quickly got pokemon food for all of them. Mom made us dinner and we sat outside, watching my pokemon playing in the sunset.

“I can’t find it mom.”

“Find what honey?”

I sighed. “Mirage Island.”

Mom swiftly turned her head towards me. “I’ve heard bad things about that place honey.”

I shook my head. “It probably doesn’t even exsist, that man’s just probably crazy.”

Mom nodded. “Come on, lets tidy up and get ready for bed.

The next morning, we were walking through the petalburg woods, laughing and chatting merrily as my beautiful pokemon played freely. Suddenly, Zangy stopped moving, and uttered a small cry. I turned to him quickly. “Zangy?”Zangy started frantically chattering to Swellow and my other pokemon. All of them started moving towards the pokeballs on my belt.

I was confused. “Do you guys want to go in?” I asked, and they all nodded.

I let them in one at a time, and then I looked at my watch. “Ohhh!”

“What?” Mom asked me, looking worried.

“This is the time we usually get to Pacifidlog town. C’mon guys, we’re not going today.” I went to let them out, but they wouldn’t budge. Swellow refused to get in his pokeball and he bent down like he would when he would fly me.

“Honey, they’re not gonna give up, go to the town, I’ll see you when you get back.” Mom said as she hugged me.

I kissed my mom on the cheek. “Okay mom, I love you.”

I hopped on Swellows back and we sped away, towards Pacifidlog. He landed me right outside the old man’s house, and I thanked him and put him back in his pokeball. I went up to the man, and waited for usual disappointment.

“Oh! Oh My! I see Mirage Island today!” The old man grinned happily at me and peered towards the ocean.

I stood there for a moment, flabbergasted. Then I ran out of the house and to the pokemon centre.

“Sorry Altaria!” I whispered to my pokeball as I swapped her over for my sharpedo. Before I knew it, I was on the back of sharpedo, surfing away from Pacifidlog town, closer and closer to Mirage Island.

We surfed for what seemed like forever, before Sharpie stopped dead in his tracks. “Sharpedo…” He whimpered. There, in the near distance, was a misty island, not very visible. “Mirage Island…” I muttered, shocked. “Come on Sharpie.” I said to the pokemon, but he refused to move. He was terrified. “Please, Sharpie, just a little, I’ll swim the rest.” Sharpie edged forward and soon enough, it was in an easy swimming distance. “Thankyou Sharpie.” I put him in his pokeball and swam easily to the beachfront. “Wow…” I muttered as i stared at the huge, mysterious, island. I tramped forward and felt a niggling in my pocket. “Oh Zangy.” I let him out and he hugged me, but then he looked at the island and he cowered behind me. “Oh come on Zangy, it’s okay.” He edged out a little, and we carried on towards a bunch of large trees. It started to get darker and darker as we went deeper into the island’s center. Then suddenly, i saw a very distinct tree, sitting in the middle of a patch of grass.

“LIECHI BERRIES!” I yelled as i ran towards the juicy looking berries on the tree. I ate one and a burst of flavor hit me. “Wow. Zangy, come try these!” Zangy shook his head. “Zangy! Try them!” Zangy shook his head again, and then, he started to run away. “ZANGY!” I screamed. I stuffed a few more berries in my mouth, and went to chase after him. “Wait, need more berries….” I went back to the tree, and ate a few more, savouring them slowly. I needed more berries. I’ll just get the pokemon to find them… I thought as i let them all out. “Go find Zangy!” I yelled at them. They looked at me confused. “GO!” I screamed at them. They all ran away from me and in Zangy’s direction. I sat in the long grass, pulling more and more berries off the tree, and swallowing them.

“Wy…. Wy….”

“What?! Who’s there?!” I said between berries.

Need to find Zangy! No.. more berries.

More, and more, and more, eating everyone off the tree.

I heard odd cries in the distance.

My Pokemon! No, berries are more important.

Soon, they were all gone, and i lay down in the grass, smiling.

“Wynaut!”

I sat up startled, and saw a wynaut in the distance. “Oh my god!” I screamed.

“Come here Wynaaaut!” i slowly walked towards it. “Wy… Wy…”

And then, there were more, and more, and soon, a whole group of Wynaut were standing before me in the trees. i walked slowly towards them, getting ready to capture one, and then my legs slowly lifted off the ground, and the Wynaut were carrying me deeper, and deeper, and deeper.

I woke up, in a dark cave, with flickering torches around the outside.

“Zangoose….”

My head snapped to the left, and I saw my Zangoose, my beautiful, beautiful Zangy, lying on the ground, badly hurt, a large wound in his stomach.

“Zangy?!”

He turned towards me, and as he moved, I saw them, my poor, poor pokemon, dead, every single one of them. How long had I been out? What had happened?

My Zangy moaned, and then his eyes closed, and he slept. What felt like an hour later, he stopped breathing, and i cried for my dead best friend.

Don’t, sleep. I told myself as my eyes barely kept open.

I noticed on a plate to my left, berries. I scooped them up, and devoured them one by one, and then my eyes drooped more.

Need, sleep, I can dream, of more berries. As I slowly closed my eyes, The Wynaut walked into the cave, and devoured my beautiful Zangy.

Just a dream, when I wake up tomorrow, all of this would have disappeared, everything will be back to normal.”

And then, the world faded to black.

“Sir, how’s the sighting today?”

“I can’t see mirage island today…”

Mirage Island - it must become visible and invisible depending on the weather conditions that make mirages appear.

Or is it really appearing and disappearing?
End of story...
