Pulling the heavy cloak over her head, Flora pulled her dark braided hair from the back to hang over her shoulder. She dropped her chin as she stepped out onto the street, allowing the hood to hide her face. It had been almost three months since she had escaped slavery, and she wasn't going to take any chances on getting caught to go back. The city streets were busy this early August morning and the scent of rain filled the air.

Deep in her own thoughts, she kept her emerald eyes on the ground as she headed towards the market place, instictively dodging the busy crowd as she tried to blend in. Today will be the day I hear of a slave free island in the caribbean and begin a better life... Flora held so much hope for a place like that. She dreamt of it, wished and prayed for it, but each day proved as unlucky as the last.

Stepping into the slave shop, Sye smirked. He was in the market for a new slave or two, and even when he wasn't, he still enjoyed coming here. A window shopper, you could call him, this was the third slave shop he'd been to in a week. He'd traveled to two other cities to see what their slave shops held, and displeased, he ruturned home empty handed. "I hope this months shipment proves better than the last," he said to the shop owner as he began walking down the caged areas to browse.

Sye Ewell was in the market for a beauty this time around. He already had enough hard workers, servants, cooks etc. being that his large estate proved needy and his deep pockets proved worthy. He was a charmer when it came to women, but most of the time he found them to be prudes, or only out for his riches, and that just wouldn't do. So, he planned on buying a female companion, at least for the time being. He would treat her like a princess, this slave would be lucky, but he held every intention of throwing her to the curb should a woman of class come into his life.
