Luka stood unobtrusively at the entrance, turning a gilded letter-opener over in his hands. He preferred to survey slaves before attempting purchase, to see how they interacted with each other and their handlers. He'd never bought before, and though this was a well-known establishment, he was prepared for a murkier course of action. Besides, the workers were still hustling around, kicking the misbehaved and tightening the fighting-slaves chains.

Most slaves hadn't noticed his standoffish presence. Their whispered words hit his ears, an onslaught of pain, terror, rage and the smallest shreds of hope. The roar of one fighter-slave in the back, a bullish human with muscles beyond his species, reached particularly far. Far enough to reach the ears of the nearest handler, who reached for his baton.

Luka set down the letter-opener, his gangly figure forcing him to bow more than a man of his status could feel comfortable doing. Instead, his eyes followed the actions of the first master to actually prowl the wares, a female Demon. Perhaps it was time to do so as well. He smoothed his wrinkle-less jacket, strolling down a row at random. This seemed to be the 'flight' section. Luka analyzed each tag as he went, knowing the qualities he would demand of a house-slave but curious as to which purchase would pique his interest most.
