Most of these men were easily fooled by her lies. In her mind she was grinning and laughing at them and how easily they could be manipulated. A few of them suggested that she take them to where she and her fiancé had been attacked. Keeping in character she feigned being afraid and shook her head. “How could I go back there? I want to know if he is alright, but I don’t know what I would do if he was…” She acted as though she couldn’t finish her sentence and pretended to cry once more. The men continued to comfort her.
Taking another glance around she spotted a man who seemed to be watching her from the bar. That one didn’t seem to be fooled by her tale. Of course he also didn’t seem be drunk like most of the others. In truth she hated preying on drunkards. Their blood wasn’t as tasty, but it would do when needed. Her gaze left the man’s face turning back to one of the men in front of her, Duncan, she believed he said his name was. He along with a few of the others were urging her that it would be safe if they left in a group. This game was growing tiring so she finally agreed to lead a small group of them to spot. Duncan along with three other young men escorted her outside. “Thank you, I really appreciate what you are doing for me. It’s this way…by the way,” she whispered lowly to them, “I don’t like how that man at the bar was watching me. He made me really uncomfortable.” The fools told her not to worry, they would take care of him as well if he tried anything. She smiled at this with their reply. “We should hurry.” The small group disappeared up the darkened street.
