Banner by the glorious Ferra

Haiku is a poetic form with a long and rich tradition, having its origins in Heien period Japan as part of a longer, collaborative form of poetry called Tanka. It dwells on and evokes a moment in time, and brims with seasonal and natural imagery. It has an ethereal and ephemeral quality, but one that stands the test of time and is universal. A haiku overall is usually full of nuance, but the ubiquitous structure of 17 syllables has a purity of form, which allows for depth in its simplicity. With our attention spans being what they are now a days, Haiku is as relevant as ever. So, what better way to luxuriate in the coming of spring than letting it stir our poetic impulses? Or better yet, stir it with the added benefit of potential compensation? >.>
