When Alex entered the cave he had automatically been drawn to the cavernous walls and seemingly nonexistent ceiling. Stalactites and stalagmites gleamed along the sides of the cave, serving to excite his trap-making mind rather than his detective one. He could hang rope from the stalactites and connect it to a bucket of water which would drop once the rope was burned through by a candle which would be lit by...well most people got the picture. Of course, the fact that the fog didn't infect the cave was enough reason for Alexander to whip out two flashlights (as if reading Ella's mind) and handing one to her for to use.

He flicked the switch and panned the beam of light around the walls finding evidence of dripping water, mud, and most importantly, prints.

"Look at these Ella," he said, flashing the light on a set of fresh-looking footprints, "don't you think the fog would have kept people from coming here?"

It was common knowledge that amateur spelunkers loved going through the Crystal Caves, but not only was it night time, but it was foggy, foggy enough that most people wouldn't even be able to see the cave unless they walked up close. Why would they come all the way here just to explore at night?

He frowned as they approached the first split in the cave and turned to his strawberry-haired companion and nodded.

"You take the left and I'll take the right path," he decided, "as long as we don't go too deep into the caves we should still have signal in case either of us get in trouble but if we do...stick to the usual plan of run around until we can meet at the Mystercycle."

With a baited breath he entered the cavern, ready for the things to come.
